Chris_FL got a reaction from justmetj in I know it's nobody's business BUT
I told everyone too. It just felt strange to not tell the truth when people ask how I did it. Plus I had some relatives who are overweight and wanted to be a positive influence.

To date, three people have had the surgery because of me and are very happy.

    That makes me feel good!

My boyfriend and immediate family did not support my decision. I went to every appointment alone. The day of surgery, they showed up and supported me. Afterwards, they helped me a tad during recovery, but guess what? One year later...I'm down 75lbs and they are super happy for me. I am super proud of myself as well.

At the end of the day, if you are unhappy with YOU...YOU have every right to do something about it.
I think my boyfriend was scared I was going to change, or be too attractive and not want him anymore.
If the relationship is solid before the surgery, then you should be fine.
However, if you have underlying issues that have not been addressed with each other. This could unveil all that.
For me, i'm a year post op and having relationship issues now. I think he is starting to feel insecure and makes little comments hinting at it here and there.
I'm growing into a strong, confident person and he isn't used to it.
If you want the surgery, do it. She will be forced to deal with her feelings regarding it, but I promise, it will be worth it for YOU. I don't regret it for one single moment.
The way I feel right now, the progress I have made...I could not have done it on my own. The surgery changed my life.
I eat healthy and work out but the surgery was the tool I didn't have to help me.

Chris_FL got a reaction from Nataliesmom in Why am I so nervous?
It's perfectly normal to feel that way. I was very nervous myself when I went in on Monday morning.

It was over in the blink of an eye and I was back home Tuesday by 4:00pm.

Today, the pain has decreased considerably. Felt like really bad cramps, but the pain killers helped.

I'm super excited about my future and you should be too.

I was nervous because so many people depend on me and I was scared of the chance that something could go wrong. But I realized this was something I needed to do if I wanted to be with my family for the long haul.

You can do this. Good Luck!

That is a good amount of weight in 3 weeks. You might have entered your first (not your last) stall. I lost 15 pounds by 3 weeks as well. Then I hit my first stall. It lasted a week, and then I started losing again. I am only down 38 pounds in 8 weeks after going through 2 stalls at 3 and 6 weeks. No problem with that as I dropped 25 pounds during my 2 week pre-op diet. I have also been lifting weights for the last 3 weeks, and feel that my body is responding.
There are several people in this forum that lost more than 40 pounds their first month post-op, but they might have had a lot more weight and/or fat to lose than I did.
Anyway, don't rush it. Your body will lose the weight at its own speed. Anyone other than a WLS patient would be ecstatic to lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks. Stick to your plan, and you will be successful.

You will have many stalls and plateaus in you journey and it is just part of the journey. Along the way you will learn to tweak your diet to support weight loss and will identify what works and what doesn’t work and all of that takes times of things not working.

I am almost 5 months out which is nothing compared to some of he vets here but I have learned a lot from their advice that makes a difference. I didn’t believe it when people said they would drop inches and sizes without dropping weight. Or that nothing would happen and then a whoosh of pounds dropped.

Use the plateaus to learn what works and what doesn’t work. And strap yourself in for the process of learning how to maintain your health for the rest of your life. Keep going and don’t make yourself nuts !

Also, when you weigh yourself at home, you're typically wearing less clothing. At least in my case.
