Anyone in their 20's have vsg

I am 23! I had my surgery on October 20. Including my pre-op (which was a month long) I am down 40 pounds and 17 inches overall. Feels so great. I definitely felt regretful immediately following the surgery while I was still in the hospital, but it really does get better. I am so excited to have a new lifestyle and looking forward to the rest of my journey.

    Pre op weight loss

That is awesome!!! Congratulations on your loss! I weigh myself every day, as it helps me realize how much my weight can fluctuate naturally and I don’t stress about stalls anymore or what the number will be at my next appointment. I worry too much otherwise. It is fun to see how differently your clothes fit during the entire process. I am glad you had a pain-free surgery and were able to get back to things quickly! I think that definitely helps with recovery

    Pre op weight loss

I had a four week pre-op diet and lost 22 pounds total. Have lost another 8 pounds since my surgery last Friday.

    From start to finish

First orientation was 7/12/17 and the operation took place 10/20/17. Pretty quick.

    Pain after surgery

I ended up being allergic to the anesthesia they used to put me under and so I spent a lot of time in the hospital vomiting and my nausea was high. Even at the worst, the pain was about a 5 out of 10 for me, with 10 being the worst pain I’ve ever felt. The day after the procedure, it was down to a 2. Now at home I’d say I’m pretty comfortably less than a 1, but not quite a zero. My core really hurts to engage and I still need help sitting up in bed and whatnot. Gets better every day with sleep, walking, and fluids!

    Eval

Hello! Mine was pretty easy. My nutritionist talked with me about what I’m eating currently and have been. She gave me some tips for cutting calories and for success within the first six months. Told me a couple stories of what not to do. It was pretty easy overall!

    New subbie!

My wake up call moment was when we went to Disney World and I almost wasn’t able to participate in something due to my weight. I was 25 pounds short of having to sit it out. It took another year before my best friend had WLS and I realized I may be able to take that route, too.

    What is your Pre-OP Diet?

Mine has three phases. Phase 1 was protein shake for breakfast, small piece of fruit or cheese for snack, microwave meal for lunch, small snack again, and microwave meal for dinner for a week. Phase 2 was the exact same, except the microwave meal for lunch was replaced by a shake. This was also for a week. Phase 3 is two weeks. Full liquid protein shakes for snacks and meals, although I can have 1-2 cups of veggies with lunch and dinner. I have 5 days of phase three left. I’m getting really tired of these darn protein shakes! I have lost 16 pounds thus far, though, so it’s definitely been worth it.

    Calling all October sleevers!!

I’m scheduled for 10/20 (which is also my birthday!) I’m still waiting on insurance approval, so I’m a little worried about that. I should hear back next week. I’ve been doing a ton of reading and research and I feel pretty prepared, although I’m still nervous as heck. I’ll probably panic once it’s actually time. But for now I’m okay. Just ready to get this over with so I can start my new life!
