Wow, I’m so excited that so many people have responded and PM’d and I’m so happy that all this stuff won’t go to waste!!!

For now, I think I have enough people to cover the amount of stuff I have, or vice versa, but if/when I’m making up the packages and I am able to send out more stuff, I will post again.

Thanks again for your responses. You don’t know how good it does my heart to know this stuff will be put to good use!

Would anyone be interested in a “bariatric care package” of sorts?
Quick backstory- I was sleeved on 1/23 and have been doing great! One “side effect” (I guess you could call it that) is that anything with preservatives, sugar substitutes, and the like tastes AWFUL to me. I am basically only eating meats, fruits, veggies, nuts- that type of stuff.
The only problem I have with this is that prior to my surgery and shortly after post-op, I went balls to the wall and bought all these Protein Shakes, Protein Soups, protein lemonades, Vitamins, Crystal Light, etc that I now have no use for because I physically cannot tolerate the taste.
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in some of the products, free of cost? I would basically just throw a bunch of different stuff in a box and ship it to you. It would be great for people who are pre-op and aren’t sure of what to buy or what you might like or dislike.
If you’re interested, please PM me and let me know! I wanna get all of this stuff out of my house ASAP!

This sounds completely like me. Was sleeved 1/8/17, lost 8.5 pounds in the first week, put back on 2 pounds then stayed there for 2.5 weeks. By a month out I had only lost 10 pounds and was so worried my surgeon was going to be disappointed. They told me I was right where they wanted me though and I've started to dial back my expectations. I think in my mind I thought the weight would just fall off in droves like it did the first week and I think that's unrealistic, for me anyway.

I think you're doing great, keep up the great work. More weight loss is coming.
I want to answer your question about incorporating exercise.
My personal experience is definitely not the norm. The day of surgery, I weighed 312 lbs. I had a lot of prior and existing health problems, including chronic pain. I was unable to exercise because of those problems. I literally stayed in bed for most of the first 13 months after my sleeve surgery. During that time, I lost over 100 pounds.
I am currently very much on the mend, I turned a corner in January. For the first time since 2014, I am able to exercise, get lots of housework done, be very active, get out of the house and am getting on with my life.
Yes, if I had been able to exercise sooner, the weight would have come of more quickly....a lot of people here will attest to that.
Exercise is definitely good. But, sometimes, you just can't do it for either physical or mental reasons. It is also normal to go through mental changes, lack of energy, etc after surgery. You will get to the point when you are ready to incorporate exercise into your plan. When you're ready, start slowly and then work your way up. In the meantime, while you currently aren't exercising, as long as you follow the plan, the weight will come off.

I'm 3 weeks and 3 days post o.p. I've lost 30 lbs thus far and this week NOTHING! I'm glad someone said something... I was about to call my Dr. I'm not getting all my liquids and I don't feel like I'm peeing enough either. So I thought something was wrong. I didn't have a scale before surgery but now I do and I want to throw it out!!!! You all made me feel better...

If you're body is constantly changing, whether it be a lbs or inches, that IMO is not a stall. Try not to focus so much on the scale number, it will go up and down, and so many get frustrated and start stressing...and we all know that stress isn't good. Stress, can really keep you in a "stall" Relax...take the cue from those before you and know that these things will happen. Stick to your program and it'll come off. Be encouraged and blessings on your journey hon.

My surgeon told me not to even think about my weight, just concentrate on the Protein, Water, Vitamins, and exercise. Of course, I had the surgery to lose weight, so I've been weighing myself and keeping track, but this is not a linear process at all. I've been stalled three or four times at least--sometimes for weeks--but IF I do what I'm supposed to, the weight comes off. You will also stall; your loss will not be as fast as you'd like; and the loss will slow down over time. I'm just guessing, of course.

Yup, that was me. Lost 11 lbs the first week and then stalled for the next two, zero movement of the scale but I could see and feel my clothes especially my shirts getting looser. Then after the two week stall I dropped around 7 lbs then on and off for the next couple of weeks.

I don’t stress anymore because if I don’t see the scale moving this week I’m pretty sure I will do the following one.

Very cool! Great results! Congrats to you on a successful surgery and on your losses!
I'm sure others will be along shortly, but in my experience pre-surg, weight loss is never linear. If I have a big ol' drop, I can be sure it will be followed by a stair step pattern. You lose fat and Fluid and your body rushes to re-establish equilibrium by filling the fat cells with Water. Then you shed it and the scale moves down and the process repeats.
Here's a shot of my last 180days of losses.

I'm the same as you. I'm 4 weeks post op tomorrow. In week 1 I lost 8.5lbs, week 2 I lost 2.5lbs and last week I lost 0lbs. I normally weigh myself on a Friday but I have been a bit down over it so I weighed myself Wednesday morning and found I have gained 2lbs. It's so disheartening this early. I've a review with my surgeon Monday so I hope he'll help me. I'm following all I've been told to do. But I feel I can eat so much more than I should be even though I am eating so much less than before. I'm stressed from it. But you are right. It's a marathon. A life long one! Just do our best and support each other on this site. I work for a doctor who told me it's normal to stall for a month then it'll start coming off. We are still healing too. Best of luck!

Hi, I did not have any of your issues after my surgery, but I will tell you this:
What you are feeling WILL pass. It may suck currently, but you just have to be brave and push forward. Some of what you are feeling might only last a few days. Just be sure to let your surgeon know what you are experiencing and follow their instructions to the letter. Do what you can to stay comfortable and just know that having the surgery WAS the right decision.

You were hit hard post-surgery at home. You were still healing (even with it going well) plus a cold, your period, a desire for cigs, taste buds are off kilter, and you've had lettuce cravings. Not easy at all. My taste buds were off too - sugar-free Popsicles and jell-o tasted too sweet. The salmon my daughter was making (which never made me feel sick before) smelled horrible to the point of nausea. About Water and Protein, I'm still not close to my goals. It takes awhile to get there. I hope you are feeling better very soon. Your body probably needs a lot of rest right now. Try not to overthink it because anxiety about work may set in. Keep focusing on what you need in the moment and eventually you'll get to where you want to be.

hdbuttahz, if you slept for 24 hours when you got home, you're probably really really dehydrated. You need to sip, sip, sip, and you might not be able to make up for that lost time on your own.
Please pay special attention to the symptoms of dehydration. If you think you're in trouble, call your doc and maybe even consider going to urgent care for some fluids IV.
Not only will dehydration make you feel run over by a truck...it can also increase your risk of blood clots.
Pour yourself four little one ounce cups of Water every single hour you're awake and challenge yourself to drink one of them every 15 minutes. Drink anything you can tolerate....but please drink an ounce every fifteen minutes you're awake.
I totally understand feeling discouraged and freaked out....have so been there.
But seriously, girl...hydration is critically important...and that floaty feeling you're describing concerns me.
    Sip, sip, sip.
And you're dead right...no one gets it who hasn't been there.
One of my discharge nurses told me when I went home that the most common cause of emergency dehydration was sleeping for extended periods of time after arriving home. She actually cautioned us to set a timer and take 30 minute naps...so that we could get our water in each hour and not get behind.
Pay attention to the color of your urine. if it's very dark, you might be suffering dehydration. Pick up the skin on the back of your hand...it should snap back down. if it sort of tents and oozes down...you're dehydrated.

The cold can't be helping, but I kind of understand where you are coming from. I also had very little pain, but my feeling at that point was that the first month just pretty much sucked. I got so sick of the sweet taste of Protein Drinks I could barely get them down. The broth I tried seemed disgusting. Fudgesicles helped . . . but I also had no energy at all. It took forever until I felt more or less normal.
It will get better! that's virtually a promise . . . real food helps enormously, even though you will only be able to eat a few bites at first. Hang in there, though. It's worth it!

My surgeon requires a two week “liquid and lettuce” diet prior to surgery. I noticed quickly when joining this forum that there are literally dozens of pre-op diets and surgeons are all different.
I’m on day 2 and while I am tired and weak and a little headachy, it’s going surprisingly well. I feel (like I do with most stuff in life) that I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop. Is this just beginners luck and I’m going to start feeling horrible or am I just lucky that it’s going well and I’m going to coast to the end?
    Any advice/experiences would be helpful!!
