  1. Well, add me to the waiting boat!!! I'm praying for a miraculous, super fast approval for all of us who are waiting!!! GEEZ!!! Just say YES!!!! LOL
  2. Anewme.... Thanks so much!! I definitely appreciate the prayers.. Just got off the phone w/ my pt. coord. I have the pre-op class next week.. and hopefully a swift insurance approval!! (Add that to your prayer list please!!)...
  3. Thanks so much!! I know.. it's like... UGH!!! I started posting in May/June.. I believe... Time has flown...
  4. So, last night I had my last required appointment for my medically supervised weight loss program. Leading up to that appointment, I had an emotional tsunami!!! I have been sooooo overwhelmed with different crazy scenarios about why this surgery will not happen... I'm a very positive person, so I was shocked and kind of paralyzed when all this negativity bombarded me!! I've been on the verge of tears since Thanksgiving.. it's like this foreboding sadness and apprehension about completing this process... It's been crazy.. Okay back to last night.. well, I was on my way to the office and I was just dreading it... I even drove the speed limit.. And I DON'T ever do that!! LOL.. so I get there and the nice receptionist who works Thursdays is there... She told me how she hadn't seen me in a long time, but it's always a pleasure because I have such a nice, bubbly personality.. (Inside I was like.. lady, you just don't know!!!)... So, after exchanging pleasantries, I sat and was called back shortly... to face the dreaded scale!!! I literally got shocked when I step on.. not because of weight.. but because I had a been wearing my wool coat and I was all charged up!! LOL... Everything's normal BP, Temp, breathing... but mentally, I'm just drained and dreading my doc coming in.. He comes in and immediately says, what's wrong?? So, I do through the whole spiel.. He listens, laughs and reminds me of 6 months ago and the progress that I've made.. He assured me that my surgery would happen and I wouldn't be used as a guinea pig for a new mind-control medical testing! Then he invited his intern in (by my permission).. He starts telling her about me and asked me to share why I decided to have WLS... I felt so EMPOWERED and instantly calm about everything... because I know I'm doing this for the right reasons and I understand that this is my life and I'm responsible for making it as good or not, as I want it to be... I told him how sad and emotional I was.. and it dawned on me.. I'm losing my best frenemy!!! And very soon!!! He said he definitely believes in me and that he looks forward to sharing all of my success!! LOL.. Anyway, I left the appointment very hopeful, less fearful, still emotional.. but I made it!! My doc told me that each February, his office holds an dance for patients who have gone through WLS.. He said that I have to be there and save him the LAST DANCE!!! LOL... that still makes me smile!! Next step is submitting to insurance.. And I pray that happens early next week!!!
  5. Stay hydrated!!! Drink plenty of water to help w/ the aches and MADNESS!!! Best wishes... I'll be where you are in a few weeks!!!
  6. Hey, I can deal w/ that.. I'd rather be cold and healthy... than hot, miserable and decreasing my life expectancy daily!!!
  7. Thanks Diva and everyone else who keep this forum open, honest and supportive!! I'm excited to start this journey towards a healthier life...
  8. I am nearing the end of my 6 months.. Time has flown!!! And I think the wait is worth it!!! I grew weary several times, but a lot of our fellow sleevers (hehehe) encouraged me and helped me see that I was preparing to change my life... in every aspect and that decision and action can't be made hastily or w/o going through the process... You'll do great!!!
  9. God is awesome and I'm sure you will do your part as well!! I had a 6-month weight loss plan to be on.. w/ dr visits e' month.. I have my last one Thursday and I'm praying for a quick insurance approval so I can STOP freaking out!! I'm excited though... I have a lot of weight to lose too!! My surgeon wants my goal weight to be somewhere between 220-200... That excites me, since this was my weight.... in JUNIOR HIGH!!! I know we're gonna do it!!! Let's keep in touch!!!
  10. Congrats!! You're gonna do great!!! I was also diagnosed w/ PCOS, thankfully, none of the other co-morbidities.. but, I don't want to wait to change my life.. I'm 36, single, but dating... I want to be married, the kids are negotiable.. I teach high school..so, I see enough ppl under 18!! LOL.. I'm excited for you!!! Best wishes!!

Trust me, I understand!!! OMG!!! I had to fly to DC for a conference during the summer and WOW... I'll NEVER fly Southwest again for any reason (I hope!!)... It was thoroughly embarrassed and offended when the boarding agent attempted to make me purchase an extra seat on an almost empty flight!!! There were 40 people on a 757!!! REALLY??!!! The supervisor snapped on him!! I was horrified!! But, it made me see again how blatant discrimination against obese people is prevalent and tolerated in most cases... But, we are starting a new journey that will lead to greater and better days!!! Best wishes
  12. Awww Julie, that's awesome!!!! Girl, buy a few belts.. you don't want to be mooning folx!!! LOL!! Keep up the awesome work!!
  13. Awesome job!! I'm praying that my approval goes that smoothly!!.. Congrats!!!
  14. Sasicas, I'm sorry to hear that... I had sleep apnea prior to getting my tonsils and adenoids removed some years ago.. I wonder if it's being caused by inflamed nasal/sinus passages or something... I hope they figure it out...
  15. Hey Rain... I'm also a teacher.. I hope to be sleeved during my Christmas break, but I won't be returning to school until Feb 1st.. I've told my admins and a few friends at work.. I was very reluctant to tell my Mom, who found out from one of my 6 sisters!!! So, I went home to MS for Thanksgiving and we all sat down after dinner and talked.. I decided to have surgery because I'm beginning to "feel" my weight and my body is letting me know that I'm over 350 lbs!!! I hurt my back some years ago and I've managed it well until recently when a bout of pneumonia forced me to be on bed rest for some weeks... The one person who had a major issue was an overweight friend of mine who ranted and raved about I just needed to work out and get a plan.. I was in tears because I felt that she of all people should understand how it is to be trapped in a body that seems like it doesn't belong to you.. It's like being in prison!!! But she was so unsupportive and rude!! Later I figured out why.. she doesn't want to be the lone "fat" girl in our group.. She feels that I will change and become a snob or something... Anyway, i told them I was looking for approval or validation of my decision.. I wanted them to know what was going on.. And if they don't agree, that's fine.. it's my body and my life.. They know me.. I'm analytical.. i don't do anything without researching and "counting the cost"... I believe we will be fine!!
  16. Awesome job!!!! Keep up the good work!!
  17. YEAH!!! I pray all went well and that your recovery goes smoothly!!
  18. Thanks guys!! I can be a worrywart!!! I just want to get this right!! (Of course, my doc says, I shouldn't think about getting stuff right all the time, just about doing the right things one day at a time).. and it's true... I'm getting better! You all are some supportive and full of wisdom.. I really appreciate it!!!
