  1. Don't worry about that at all Killian. I weighed myself everyday since surgery as well and I was down every day, then the other day it said I went up 2lbs, today when I went on the scale I was down 3. Weight fluctuation happens to everyone which is why they suggest we only weight ourselves once a week (although that is tough to do). You will see it come off.

  2. Thank you guys for all that great information. I by no means expect him to change his life I just wanted him to be a little more sensitive the first few weeks out of surgery. I realize that this is my choice and my choice alone and that I will always be around food and will need to deal with it and plan appropriately and that’s exactly what I plan on doing. There are just so many emotions for me the first week post op that I think I just go overwhelmed with it all last night and had a melt down. You guys are the best and I truly appreciate all your advice.

  3. I’m 5 days post op and granted I haven’t been on the top of the moon lately because I’m in a lot of pain and I’m naturally on all liquids and less than 300 calories per day however my husband has not changed his eating habits not even a tiny bit since I got home. He will sit right beside me on the couch and eat ho ho’s, Peanut Butter Cookies, chips, peanuts, cheese burgers, candy, Burger King etc. etc. I finally looked at him today and said “don’t you have any consideration around what I’m going through right now? Can you maybe eat this in the kitchen and not 5 inches from my face (literally) and he looks at me and tells me just because I changed my life doesn’t mean he is changing his and to pretty much get over it. I’m so upset like on the verge of crying upset because my husband and I are best friends it’s not like we have had a bad relationship we love each other more than life but he has been so insensitive since I came out of surgery that it’s just mind boggling. Has anyone else dealt with this with their spouse??? Any advice would be more than appreciated.

  4. I'm 7 weeks out, unfortunately I wasn't one of those that lost their hunger. It was a very dramatic hunger the first 2 weeks, like my stomach was physically turning inside out, uncomfortable really. I just made sure I had something with me so I could eat every 2-3 hrs. I still get hungry every 2-3 hrs but its much more manageable now and I can ignore it if I chose.
I have never been on a PPI, it's not part of my surgeon's protocol and I have had no issue with reflux.

Oh wow sorry to hear that. I have the same growling feeling. I’m not on a PPI either. I will continue to follow the all liquid diet I was just hoping I wasn’t the only one hungry 5 days out.

  5. Hi All, I had the lap band back in 2009 and in 3 years I lost 103lbs. At that time I started trying to have a baby and that proved to be very difficult. After many miscarriages I finally had a baby 4 years later (after 2 round of IVF. During my struggles with infertility things seemed off with my band though I was preoccupied with trying to conceive and I didn't really care too much. Due to an ectopic pregnancy I had emergency surgery to have a fallopian tube removed and even that surgeon said that she took at look at my band and it "didn't look right" to her. Now that my baby is a year old I've been thinking about going back to my baratric surgeon. As of right now I've gained half of my weight loss back. I also just got a letter from my surgeon's office stating that greater than 50% of band patients are having revisions due to ineffectiveness of the band, food intolerance, band slipping, and heartburn/erosion. I'm pretty sure I have all of those things.

I'm a little nervous about a new surgery but I can't live the way I have been living anymore.

I had my lap band put in in 2012. Lost 50lbs was experiencing severe reflux and it had to be completely drained. I was self pay so there went $17,000 down the drain [emoji15] I just had my lap band conversion to the VGS on Tuesday and my insurance paid 100% thank god. It’s tough but I know it will all be worth it. Good luck.

  6. I’m 4 days out and it’s been beyond tough as it relates to the pain. I’m not having any issues getting my liquids down but my pain under my right rib cage is more than I ever thought it would be. One day at a time is all we can do. I am down 6lbs though so I know this will all be worth it but it’s definitely no fun. Prayers for all of us.

  7. I feel horrible too and I am 4 days out. I don’t know why I felt I would be fine by now but I did. sleeping is tough sitting up is tough going to the bathroom is tough. I get scared every now and again that something went wrong and I’m not healing right. It’s a very scary thing that’s for sure and if anyone says we took the easy way out they are crazy.

  8. I was operated on on Tuesday of this week and I finally go home tomorrow. My question is should I weigh myself or wait u til my first post-op dr appt? I see some people who have had amazing results and others who have gained. I know this is a time of healing and everyone’s body is different but I must admit I’m curious to say the least? Suggestions are most welcomed.

  9. Just had ab 6oz of broth and 2 bites of Jello - big improvement - still have IV at 40% and IV meds. Some mild discomfort - regularly doing 6-12 laps at a time - belching and farting along the way.

Awesome Sosewsue61 sounds like you’re doing great. Still no gas for me. I keep walking but nothing coming out lol. Baby sips of Water and a little broth and jello. My husband is in complete amazement that I’m not starving after these four days. Dr is keeping me one more night since my conversion from lap and to sleeve was more complicated than he thought. Happy to be here. Not ready to go home just yet.

  10. I had my surgery yesterday. Was in some pain until they got it under control. Was up and walking three hours after getting to my hospital room. Nurses were shocked but after I had my c section with my daughter (15 years ago) I recall the sooner I got up and walked the faster I healed. I have been eating ice chips and drinking small sips of Water. Only had a couple bites of Jello last night and one teaspoon of broth. I will see how Breakfast goes shortly. Being removed from IV today and going to liquid medicine. Fingers crossed for a successful day. Not sure when I’m leaving it may be tomorrow or Friday. Much love to you all!!!

In 4 days I had two very small sips of broth. The sight and smell of it was enough to make me almost vomit. Depending on your plan, I wouldn’t put much thought into it, just focus on Water and sf popsicles. I bought 3 cartons of broth before my surgery last Monday and didn’t open a single one.

MG1776 thank you for the info!! I won't over think the broth situation at this point.
