  1. Happy 63rd Birthday maggielexi!

  2. So good of you to share your experience! I'm getting banded on Thursday (just 3 more days) and I'm excited but because of the unknown, a little apprehensive too. Your story really helped me and thanks so much for sharing!

Thanks for the tips . . I'm getting excited to start my new life and even if it's 1/2 pound per week, as you say it certainly adds up and it will make a big difference. You must be very pleased with the health results . .good work!

Hi, I haven't heard of anyone. I'm in B.C. going to Dr. Ortiz in Mexico for my surgery, have you had yours? I'm getting banded next week!
  6. Thank you SO much for taking the time to do up some recipes and food ideas and congratulations on your achievement in weight loss. You must feel fantastic! Mags

One day out and going strong!

You are one very brave girl to go through this surgery with 9 month old twins at home! Congratulations --- you make me feel tired just thinking about what your days must be like. Take good care of yourself!

One day out and going strong!

well done alladin . . . . it's so helpful to read about what you've been drinking, etc. I have not yet had my surgery, it will be in another month but I think it's helpful now for me to start buying some of the liquid stuff that I can eat so that I have it all here for when I get home after my surgery. You're doing extremely well, how exciting it must be for you. I wish I was where you're at right now, I'm so pumped to have the surgery! Take care and don't overdo it! Maggielexi
  9. It's fun reading everyone's comments --- I'm from Nelson, British Columbia and I'm just waiting to get my surgery date . .Dr. Ortiz from Tijuana, Mexico will be doing this for me. I feel really pumped about how this is going change my life in many ways and I really can't wait to begin. I'd love to hear from people who are in the first few months to see how they're doing --- it's always the 'unknowns' that are a little scary. These chat forums are excellent -- so nice to hear from people as to how they're dealing with all of this. Thanks, Maggielexi

Allie: I hope your own doctor can get you something for the fever and pain -- sorry that you're going through this but you have the right attitude so you will overcome this. All the best to you . . .thanks for letting us know where to buy the gas-x-strips. I'll get some and a heating pad in preparation for my banding. Hope your day goes a little better for you today. I guess you're thinking about all the other issues and you have no time to feel hungry! Maggielexi

One day out and going strong!

Well done and thanks for posting this. It's especially helpful to me as I plan to take the plunge tomorrow and book my surgery, etc. I expect to have it the second week in May. I too am excited about changing my life . . . my son made the comment that one day in the next few months I can put my clothes in a big pile and burn them! Take care of yourself, it sounds as if you're doing great and just listening to you gives me confidence. I hope I can keep in touch over the next few weeks . it sounds as if you're off to a great start! Maggielexi
  12. Lena: That is kind of funny --- that's exactly why I'm not saying anything to anyone. I went to see my doctor and she was actually very supportive which surprised me and the one thing she did suggest is for me to go on chat lines and listen to what people have experienced. Good advice and that's why I'm now talking to folks like you! I'm glad that you're going to Dr. Ortiz . me too, only I'm hoping to get mine done the second week in May so we'll have to keep in touch and give each other some support! I'm excited about it, will be taking the plunge and sending in the forms this week. I talked to Dr. Ortiz on the phone, he's wonderful and I'm getting a copy of the tape where his clinic was on Oprah (now that you mention Oprah). I guess her show went down to his clinic and so it should be interesting. Good stuff, Lena . thanks for your note. Maggielexi
  13. Dear Newbie: I am in the same situation as you -- I've completed my research, I'm paying for everything at my own cost and I've only told my grown up kids what I am planning to do. I just don't want to listen to alot of negativity, I just want to go and get the lap band surgery done and get on with my life. I am just as excited as you and I was happy to read your message. Good luck! It sounds like you're husband's adventures are going to start all over again once he returns home!

All of your stories are so interesting. I am strongly considering lap band surgery -- anyone get it done by Dr. Ortiz? Just looking for some feedback. Thanks!
