  1. I was banded on August 18th. After my first fill I adjusted after a couple of days and could eat a lot of things if I went slow. Weight lost was good. On November 11st I was given a second fill and I haven't been in good shape ever since. I can hardly get anything down and have been living on shakes, chicken and Soup. I started throwing up, not daily but enough. I am uncomfortable with the small amount of food I'm eating. I had lost 40 lbs. before the last fill and now I'm almost at 50 lbs just 9 days later. I am scheduled for another fill in 4 weeks and I'm concerned that I'll be on nothing but shakes. Does everyone get filled every 6 weeks? I'm told I will have at least 6 fills.

I have 2 fills and my doc gives fills every 6 weeks after my 2nd fill I could see a change in restriction but the weight loss has been slow. I go to the gym 5x week my doc said I am loosing fat instead of weight which is great.

I cant eat boiled eggs bad news or beef its to hard to swallow other than that most food is fine

  2. Oh Wow, I would NEVER even attempt to do something like that, especially since it already cost a fortune to get the band!! I would not be able to get another one if i screwed it up because of my own stupidity!!! Wow, thats insane!!!

i agree with you its not only insane as we are not trained medical professionals its also dangerous.

  3. costco has a great Protein bar called Premier Protein with 30 G Protein they come in 4 or 5 different flavors. I cut them up and snack on it thru the day

I HATE chocolate and Peanut Butter. I have a hard time with protein powders/drinks. I have tried to mix the powder in some yogurt and it's just not working. My question is... has any one found a "good" protein bar, that I can use as a meal replacement. I really like grabbing one for breakfast, and carrying them around in my purse for just in case moments. Here is my issue. Like I have already said I HATE chocolate even the fake kind. I have not found a protein bar that doesn't have that awful tasting excuse for chocolate. I like crispy fruit and granola type bars. I can't seem to find any that have a high enough protein content and a low enough sugar content. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

  4. The last two times I went for my fills, the doctor was digging too. I looked to see what he was doing because he was taking a while to find the port. When he found it he showed me the Fluid in the syringe. when they fill you they pull fluid out to make sure they found the right spot. The fluid that comes out is blue (at least it is for me, anyone else?). He said that the fluid is blue so they know when they hit the right spot. Yea, you deserve an apology for the unprofessional conversation you overheard and a fill since he didn't give you one to begin with. Good luck.

I agree with you she deserves an apology for the unprofessional behavior the staff has. She needs to stand her grounds and not let this happen again. We pay allot of money for insurance to cover our medical bills and we deserve the proper treatment medically and professionally.

  5. I had surgery on Aug 28th after 5 weeks of a pre surgery liquid diet I thought I would never get to have surgery. I kept an open mind and remembered the band is a tool to loose weight not a magic button. The post here don't tell what people eat (who don't loose weight). If they dont follow the rules they may not loose weight. It didn't take a few weeks to gain all our weight and become obese so it will take work and dedication using the band as a tool to loose weight. hang in there and look at the positiveness of the band and ignore negative comments(post) and focus on your goals...

    Best of luck to you

  6. i know that i am pre-op, i am suppose to be on a liquid diet right now for two weeks. BUT....my dad called (who never calls) and asked me if i wanted to do a father daughter dinner. I was wondering what i could do? Could i have salad? What if i use ex-lax? (even though i know that is not the purpose of it)

The lap band requires a life style change---I did not cheat during 5 weeks of liquids. There is a reason for the liquid diet and you need to have will power and do what your doc says. Be strong and don't give in to temptations. Have some Soup and tell your dad thank you so much for the company..

I don't mean to be rude this is my personal opinion (if you want the band to work for you -you have to follow the rules)

  7. I had surgery on Tuesday, Sept 9th. When I woke up from the surgery the nurse told me they repaired a hiatal hernia. I had no clue I had this. I'd like some feed back from someone whose had one. I'm not even sure what questions to ask lol. I had to do some research on the net to find out what it actually was lol.

I had the same thing happen to me. The funny thing is I have never had one symptom for the hernia. I see my doc Wed and will be asking many questions

  8. I had surgery a couple of days ago and still no bowel movement. The dr said it can take 2-4 weeks. I cant bear it. I take Vitamins but nothing is helping. What helped for you?

I used a heating pad on my belly and shoulder for pain. I also used Gas X strips and they did help. I only had pain for 2-3 days . As for the BM I used Mryolax and that helped so much. Drink lots of Water. Hang in there this shall all pass and you will be on to a new life.

    Best of luck to you
