  1. I used dr frenzel with bodevolve as well!
  2. That's what I did. I'm still waiting to see if it was worth the risk! I'll know this week sometime
  3. I've gotten conflicting reports. Called one person who said if it was medically necessary they would cover it. The second one said it excludes it but will cover $1000 towards any inpatient surgery, 25% off anesthesia within their network, percentage off a surgeon in their network etc. it becomes active October 1, so I'll find out for sure next week. I'm so anxious.
  4. I called and asked. I misunderstood. It's because I have a hernia.

    Expect the unexpected lol

My friends mom told me she got to the point that she missed chewing. That caught her off guard. The other thing was her entire 25 year marriage she has loved this chicken dish her husband made. She spit it out following surgery because it just didn't taste right.
  6. I think I've settled on dr Clayton frenzel. Anyone have any experiences with bodevolve? I'm coming from out of state and keeping my fingers crossed that the hiatal hernia is there like we suspect and my insurance will cover that portion.
  7. I inquired with dr Clayton Frenzel. His office offers a cash pay price as low as $5000 if your insurance has a general surgery clause. Has anyone ever heard of this? How does it work?
  8. Who are you using? I'm in the beginning stages and I live in Slidell.
  9. Not electively, but meeting criteria it does. I definitely meet the criteria, but my husbands policy specifically excludes surgery for any reason.
  10. Today I called and inquired about secondary insurance with first health conventey. I've read good things about the insurance and I'm hoping that'll get be back on track for coverage in addition to the health insurance provided with my husbands work. Anyone have similar situations?
  11. I called united healthcare today (choice plus) and my policy doesn't include wls. The man on the phone gave me a few suggestions, call hr and see if they'll add it to my policy. (Not likely) His other suggestion was have my doctor write a letter of appeal suggesting why wls would benefit me/why I need it. He sounded super optimistic. I really thought the no would have devastated me, but it doesn't feel like the end for me. I believe in my gut that the surgery will get covered.
  12. May I ask why you chose to self pay? Was it to avoid the 6 mo process?
  13. Did you use the estimator tool? That's really what my question is.
  14. I have united healthcare choice plus. I am calling united in the morning and I have asked the bariatric center to find out if the surgery would be covered. On the united healthcare website, there is a tool that will estimate your out of pocket cost for procedures. When I click the tool it suggests that nothing will be covered. My question is has anyone ever used the tool, but then you were approved anyway? I'm not losing hope until I hear from the insurance company, but wanted to ask.
