  1. Maybe I misunderstood my doctor and the info I read. Maybe the 70% is without working out. I am planning on kicking this weight problem in the booty so I can get my nice one back! Thanks for sharing your thoughts SGirl35! You're my new best friend =)

You’re so welcome! You probably didn’t misread it. The charts I think do show 70%, but you know what? I never think anything anyone says is 100% true to MY body. We ultimately can change those charts! So let’s keep our heads up and beat the numbers. By the way, if I only lose 70%, then I’m still fat too. No thanks, I can do better! :)

  2. I think if you work out , you’ll lose all your weight. Perhaps after you lose the 70%, you’ll just have to work a bit harder for the rest to come off.. have faith and don’t stress about the future that we can’t predict. I can’t give a true “ average” weight loss for me as I know it’s not realistic. Since I’ve lost 21lbs in 2 wks...

  3. Has anybody been dealing with extreme nausea! I am 3 weeks out and I can’t put anything on my stomach without feeling extremely sick to my stomach. I have not actually vomited, but seriously can’t deal with this anymore

I’m two weeks out and also experience plenty of nausea .. I just take my anti nausea pill and drink some Water. Seems to help some. I definitely don’t get in enough Protein, and I’m not stressed about it.. what can I do? Just try to stay very hydrated. Hope you’re okay though and can find a solution.

  4. I tried some at around that time and it made me feel so crappy. I don't remember the exact feeling but it was enough to remember to never drink it again. I don't even buy juice when I'm at the store. The most I'll drink is Apple juice if I absolutely have to but most of the time when I'm not home I usually have other options on what to drink. I used to love orange juice. Now it's just not on the list of any beverages I'd personally recommend....

Yeah I’m learning.. I told my family yesterday that juices give me dumping. Not worth the one or two ounces. I used to buy Trop 50. I only had the idea because my surgeons assistant told me I can make smoothies... I have no idea why or how she thought that was a good idea?! I can barely tolerate my Premier Protein shakes. Other than that, all I drink ate Powerade Zero. It has electrolytes and stuff, no sugar. Anything else hurts my stomach so bad. On the bright side, I’m down over 23lbs since 9/25/17.. so it makes it all seem okay. Hoping I continue on the fast track and keep losing weight. I also can’t wait for soft foods soon. liquids get old real fast.

  5. I think they say that because of the sugar and calorie content? Even before surgery I would drink low sugar low calorie drinks only.. but I think at 1 oz -2oz of a drink contains such a small amount of sugar that it won’t affect me, however it’s a bad habit long term. I just wasn’t sure if it would hurt my stomach, and sure enough even fresh squeezed apple juice watered down , 1-2oz definitely hurt my stomach... lesson learned.

  6. Hi all.
So has anyone else delt with this? I'm 12 days post-op and my stomach itches profusely, and it won't stop. I called my doctors office, and per their instructions I tried benadryl and calamine lotion. Unfortunately neither one has helped.
Does anyone have any other advice or solutions, its driving me crazy?!

I’m two weeks post op and super itchy too! It mostly itches where the cuts of surgery are scabbing. It’s gross, so I won’t dare use things to help that yet. I’m afraid.. I’ve had too many annoying instances with leaking and scabs opening... hope your itch goes away.

  7. Just curious. How long before typically can you sit down and have a small portioned dinner with family. I'm not there yet, my surgery was on September 18th, gastric bypass. I think I miss that the most.

I also had surgery over a week ago. Very new. My docs told me liquid for 3 weeks. Then soft mushy food like tuna or eggs , cottage cheese, non fat refried Beans ... (all things that sound great, considering liquids get old fast) I smell what my family cooks and would love to cook some chicken myself . But that’s for an additional few weeks I’m assuming.

  8. I just looked up what it was and the recipes look delish! Only question is, don’t we only eat such a tiny tiny amount of food anyhow? I’m only 1 week post op- but got the impression that our stomachs aren’t going to be larger enough to consume more than 4 Oz anyhow.. I definitely loved fried food ...

  9. Hello All,
Its been a while since I posted because I have been recovering from my RNY on 9/11. I am still having a lot of pain three weeks out. I read that some people don't get pain at all. Anybody still have pain and if so how are you handling it?
    Thanks,
    Zallykatz16

Hey there. I’m one week out. I have had so much pain, but I’m learning to make sure to drink as much Protein as you can, because your body needs it to heal. I also walk up and down my stairs to get to my room, and I drink lots and lots of Water as I can. I also finally stopped taking my pain killer last night. I woke up feeling so refreshed and noticed a dramatic difference in pain in my tummy. Walked down my stairs with no pain and no effort. All you can do is your best. Sorry you’re still in pain. It really sucks, I know.

Hello. I heard that it can take a week or two until you can tolerate shakes or other things. I had my surgery on the 25th and still can only tolerate water mostly.. I’m in pain too. Be patient. Your body needs time.

  11. Hey, so i live in a big coastal city myself, and just had my bypass. I’ll tell you, yes, it’s a funeral for food. I always ate all kinds of things, and now I’m full off of 2oz of water.. your new stomach doesn’t have room for much else. I have no idea how people are drinking alcohol and eating other stuff.. you’ll feel very sick if you do. But this is the cost of wanting to get health or small.. however, other friends of mine who had bypass, after one year or more, eat and drink pretty normal now.. they just haven’t kept their weight off all the way... as for insurance? I’m in California and have medi-Cal , so in all covered. Only payed for Vitamins and my shakes.

  12. the only thing that keep my mind off eating was doing other things i love i love movies so i seen every movie you can think of. and with my liquid diet i did do a lot of broth base Soups Panara was my friend.

Thank god for movies!! I’ve maxed out Netflix and now on to Amazon prime and soon Hulu. I have surgery tomorrow. Even this one day fast has made me so emotional. Wish me luck.

  13. For women, we store estrogen in our fat. So as we lose weight, we are flooded with hormones. Yes, you will get your libido back, in spades.

I already have such a high libido... I can’t imagine it higher.. but I was once thin and yes when we feel healthier and are smaller it makes things just easier and more enjoyable, at least for me :)

  14. Yeah, I also took that show as a learning experience. I liked watching it.
