Cannot recommend this highly enough. I always set it for 6 hours no matter the size of chicken. You can tone down the spice rub if you want, but it's actually very slight. I don't bother grilling it at the end to crisp the skin. (Right now we're not going to be using the skin anyway). I make it regularly and added the broth and veg and chicken to a small bowl of brown rice or similar. But made it today on Day 3 of Purees, pulled a tiny bit of chicken (it's so soft and tearable done this way), one chunk of carrot and the juices and pureed them and it was the first time I actually wanted more of anything since my op. Whoever made this recipe up is a genuis. At the moment I'm not eating the other veg - onion & celery - as I don't want to take chances. Of course once you have picked the chicken you can chuck the bones back in and get a superb stock. And THIS is my fave recipe for that http://www.theyummylife.com/Slow_Cooker_Chicken_Broth
My Mum had Gastric Bypass almost a year ago and when I made the Chicken in Slow Cooker for her she got so much wellness out of it. Good luck!! I wonder what other peoples faves are.

I had an issue with chewing 4 big chalky Calcium tabs a day and went in search for solutions without it being a capsule either. I found this and I really enjoy it. Its the consistency of the drinkable yogurt. Tastes like a slightly tart blueberry yogurt shooter. Just 2 TBSP every morning

Im still in the early stages so i will talk to my surgeon again for sure. I never noticed how often the reflux occured till i started researching these surgeries. Sometimes i think id rather deal with bad acid reflux then worse health complications associated with rny. Ive also read rny is better for high bmi...mine is 52...

    Hi everyone
Ever since i thought abt having this surgery ive wanted the sleeve bc it has less risk. But now that i have read up on both..im not sure. Something that ive noticed more is my heartburn/acid reflux..should that be a reason to switch to rny? All advise is welcome.

Dr Davis has some recipes in the back of the book that I haven't gotten to yet. But I did make a grain bowl last night that is super yummy if anyone is interested. I will be posting plant based recipes from time to time. This website, budgetbytes, is my usual go to. If anyone wants to share, please do!
Here's last night's dinner (I used red quinoa instead):

US has failed miserably at saving it's people through nutrition. It is unfortunately up to us, the people to do diligence in spreading the word, researching, and sharing the awesome health benefits of a plant based diet. I am so thankful for the doctors who are for their patients and handing out the right nutrition. They (and we) what will save our citizens.

    Great info here-thank you!
A silly anatomy question I plan to ask my surgeon, but in case anyone has already asked it... To give you an idea of where I'm at - I am just starting my journey and my immersion day is coming up in a couple weeks. I am currently working out with a personal trainer and working on building strong core muscles. Will having a stronger core make it more difficult for the surgeon to make the incisions or cause more pain when they pull the stomach out? I'm hoping having a stronger core beforehand will actually help me in my recovery...
PS, You haven't seen anything until you've seen my trainer have me perch on all fours (hands and knees) on top of a balance ball, with the goal of me being able to use my core to stay on it for several minutes at a time...effective, and I'm getting better at it every day, but quite a sight!

I think that everyone needs to spend more time on themselves and what us best for them and not be so worried about how their significant other is going to be affected. Let me tell you what I KNOW to be true. If this person really cares about you, they will support your betterment and happiness. If this isn't the case, move on to a better partner.

Started going to the gym for an hr in the morning. I always hate the gym bc i feel everyone is staring. But i forced myself and it was fine. What made u opt for rouxe?

1200 calories is hard. I am 2 years post op and sometimes I have 1200 calories, but rarely. I can't really function off of it. It is a huge deficit for someone with a normal metabolism.
I think you are being too hard on yourself.
Losing weight post wls is easy because you have no hunger, your are healing so eating hurts, and you have a major metabolic reset going on in your body.
I was a diet failure for decades. WLS boom, lost over 170 pounds in less than 2 years. And it felt pretty easy most of the time. I'm not a serious exerciser and I still lost my weight and kept my msucle up, so all is not lost.
Don't give up keep going, and be kind to yourself.

The program I was you couldn't gain weight. I lost 40 lb before the surgery from 1st appt till surgery. Doctor was fine with it felt I was deloping the proper eating habits I needed for the surgery to be successful. People who knew me certainty had their own opinion that if I can lose 40 lbs without the surgery i don't need it. Thank goodness I didn't listen to them. HW 290 SW 250 CW 184.
