    popcicles....

Outshine makes a 1G of sugar popsicle. They come in a box with tangerine, raspberry and strawberry. If you like soft popsicles these are good. I prefer the PopSicle Sugar free orange, cherry and grape.

    Snacks YES OR NO

That's no problem, still impressive. I'm about 40 since my surgery so it looks like I'm on pace. I was I was doing something really wrong!

    Snacks YES OR NO

Not to go off subject but we have similar starting stats and goal stats. Off by one pound. That's amazing that you have lost that much in that time.
  4. I don't think they've ever distinguished whether the weight gain is from people having an increased appetite or actual changes in your body that prevents you from losing weight anyway. I'm not too worried about it, just curious on other experiences. Seeing that most patients are on anti-depressants isn't too surprising either.

    Coffee after weight loss surgery?

I drink it almost daily, no decaf. My doctor said it's what you add to it that can be the issue. High calorie creamer, sugar, etc.

Post op meat, is leaner better?

I use lean beef but I have to use dark chicken because white doesn't settle well.
  7. All that sounds pretty good, thank you I'll check them out. What kind of crackers do you eat? I know you said whole wheat but Triscuits or Wheat Thins? I've noticed Triscuits settle well with me.
  8. I started regular foods a little over a week ago. I'll find something I really like, for example chicken, cheese, lean lunch meat and turkey burgers. I'll eat a few, they settle well and then I'm absolutely sick of them. I hate that it happens because I feel like I'm wasting food but my enjoyment will only last a few meals. The only thing I can eat on a consistent basis is beef jerky, Greek Yogurt and some soups so far.

    Snacks YES OR NO

If I'm hungry yes, I'll try to go for protein rich snacks like nuts or yogurt or low calorie foods like plain popcorn or popsicles.
  10. What are some of your favorites? I try things here or there but want to try new things so I have stuff I can default to if I want.
  11. I'm post-op now and I want to change my weight stats that show when I post on the boards but I can't find a place to do that. Am I missing something?

    High Protein Snack Foods

I like pistachios and cashews the most. Last night I ate a few pork rinds with a spoonful of jalapeno cilantro hummus. Bariatriceating.com has some snacks that are like chex mix, just the chex. I haven't received them yet but I like what I've had from them so far.
  13. I was having the same trouble, actually for the first 4-5 weeks. I came back to work and things were much easier. I always have a bottle or cup of water nearby and I pretty much only eat protein rich foods now. If I am struggling I may eat a protein bar, not exclusively though. Sometimes I just have to force myself to eat because I'm oftentimes not hungry but just try to get on a good schedule and you'll be good
  14. Hello! So I am month and a half out. I'm at 309 right now which starting at my initial weight of 369 is a total loss of 60 lbs. My scale at home and at the doctor's office is about 5 pounds off so I get confused but 60 is about right either way. I've went down a shirt size from 3x to 2x in button ups and polos and will probably need to start wearing XL t-shirts soon. My pant size has went from 48 to 46 so I'm happy about that. I've been at a stall for awhile but I can see and feel the progress. Coming back to work has helped me stay on a good eating schedule and eat the right amount of protein and drink the right amount of water. Overall things are good, just started solid foods last week and I'm learning what does and doesn't agree with me. It's nice that I can get full after eating so little. I'm looking forward to summer and plan to try riding a rollercoaster for the first time (I've never been able to fit in the rides). My wife has her surgery next Tuesday so I'll be out for a week helping her. She's on a liquid diet now and I told her that's the hardest part. If you subscribe to our Youtube channel we will be updating soon. Hope all is well for everyone!
  15. 7 months of education classes, weigh-ins, blood tests, pulmonary and heart tests, psychological screening, and various other appointments have finally brought me to the actual surgery this upcoming Monday. I had my pre-admission testing and meetings with the doctor today, blood test too which came back ok. I'm on the liquid diet currently and ready to go. I was thinking the other day. Some of the winter clothes I've worn all season will never be worn again, most of my clothes won't (except for some I kept when I had lost a lot of weight on my own 2 years ago). I've never been skinny. I've been smaller but never have reached my goal. I'm really excited to start this change and continue to work for the rest of my life for it. I want to buy clothes anywhere, have a child (if this helps it), go on a rollercoaster, jog or run, all of the things I've never been able to do in the past 33 years. My wife was supposed to have her surgery last week originally but the insurance required additional tests that couldn't be scheduled until April, so it's disappointing we can't do it together but I'm still happy we are taking this journey. I've ben reading over these boards since last summer and am part of the Facebook group as well as many other Bariatric related ones and I really feel like I have a hold on this. I'll be at the hospital 5 AM Monday. It's finally time.
  16. I had my first post-surgical follow up as I was starting regular foods and they wanted me to focus on protein and then water. They told me next month they would have me speak with a nutritionist to work out a diet plan with a calorie range. Every plan is different though. It's crazy how everyone's experience is so different sometimes.
  17. If you’d like, we started a YouTube page to follow our progress. Subscribe if you’d like.
  18. Thanks. I'll definitely continue to be on here. She's not too upset. Basically a mix up with the hospital and the insurance. They are hoping for a May date for her.
  19. So Monday is my surgery pending insurance clearance. Thursday I have a pre-op pre-admission test. I had a 6 month nutrition program that I had to lose 25 pounds to qualify and I did. Exactly 25. My problem now is that I gained some of that back. I’m so worried they will deny me, the doctor at least. I worry about everything.
  20. April 2nd as long as the insurance clears.
  21. The dietician and doctor wanted my wife an I to lose 25 pounds in the 6 months leading up to surgery. To those who had a long wait, how much weight did you end up losing before surgery?
  22. jrsone

    Pre-Op weight loss.

She lost 12. I felt like I got off track the week before last because it was my birthday but the scale says I at least lost 1-3 more pounds. I'm trying to do well and not fall off and I'm getting better and not getting so down when I don't do well.

    Pre-Op weight loss.

I ended up losing 17 pounds the first month
  24. I'm going to be discussing with him the right surgery for me. I weigh in the 350 range and I'm really thinking about gastric bypass. It's going to be at least 6 months because of my insurance but I think the nutrition classes will do me some good. I hope everything goes well. I've NEVER been skinny. I've been down in the mid-200s but never lower as an adult. I'm already picking out clothes and it's going to be another 2 years before I am anywhere near my goal! Also, for the guys who are starting/started around my weight, what did you pick for your goal weight.
