  1. My testosterone was recently tested by my PCP and it was found to be low. I have to be tested one more time before they decide if it needs to be treated but due to sexual issues and overall fatigue, she thought it would be worth a shot.

I was reading up online and apparently this surgery (bypass) or any number of factors related can cause Low T.

I think I've been dealing with it for a while but has anyone here dealt with it pre or post surgery?

If you were treated after testing, how did you feel?

Try warm/hot drinks! I had the exact same bubbling/stuck feeling with cold drinks out of the gate. Once I switched to Decaf hot tea/coffee it was a whole different ballgame. I know it kind of stinks to drink warm stuff now during the summer but even just starting out with a cup of hot tea in the morning can help the rest of the day go a lot more smoothly.

She actually started hot tea yesterday and she's doing pretty well so I'm happy about that.

  3. I definitely hit a bout of depression after surgery. It’s such and adjustment and I feel partly that there is so much build up and excitement leading up, the it eventually settles and also your body adjusting too. I was suffering from mental illness anyway but things have been getting better.

Don’t rule out meds. Maybe give it some time but if you need help, maybe look into it.

  4. Hello.

    Mine was 4/2.

I started off at 369 last September at my first weigh in. I weigh 300.4 now. I’m not 100% on what exactly I weighed at the beginning of surgery. I’ll have to ask.

Overall I feel great. Went down 2 pant sizes and 1-2 shirt sizes and my confidence is up.

  5. My wife recently had her surgery (I had mine in April) and she’s not feeling so hot.

I know things fall into place and you start feeling better over time but she’s become depressed because of the constant nausea and being unable to comfortably drink.

She said it feels like her drinks are getting stuck on the way down and her stomach bubbles when she does get it down. She’s tried ice chips and eats popsicles which works decently but she says she can’t quench her thirst because it’s hard for her to drink.

She goes back to work Tuesday and I want to help her feel better. Any tips no matter how big or small?

    Thanks.

Some people might scold me, but I still sauce things, especially meats. I use sugar free BBQ Sauce, low fat ranch, low sodium gravy, A-1 sauce, ect. It helps get the meats down. I say as long as you measure and include it in your calorie/fat intake for the day, its worth a shot.

Yep me too. I use the BBQ Sauce too and a bunch of other things.

Hey Guys!! Anyone else have this issue. I was a month on liquid and now I’m in the second month of only purée foods. But after my first week of puréed I gained 3 pounds?? I freaked out a bit. I’m eating 500 calories at most is that too much?

I wouldn't worry too much about the weight gain. Even at 2 months out I'll fluctuate 1-3 pounds either way throughout the week. It's likely Water retention and it will level itself out.

500 calories doesn't seem like a lot. My nutritionist advised to focus on Proteins first and foremost. On my 2nd follow up appointment later this month they are going to give me a template on calories, carbs, etc.

Just stick to the foods you can eat, try to get the 60-80 grams of Protein and try to make sure it's quality protein too.

You're doing fine. I worry a lot too but it you are doing what your doctor said, you will be ok.

  8. I worry about everything.
My nut has only given me a Protein goal no calorie goal until my next post-op appointment on 6/22.

I’m trying to reach that 60-80 protein goal but I feel like with that I’m getting too many calories.

    Today I had 920 calories, yesterday 850.

I don’t eat anything I’m not supposed to but the weight just isn’t coming off like I want to. I’m 7 weeks out, what was your carb/calorie goal at that point?

  9. This came to mind after I had a terrible experience with tuna at work today. It was the Starkist pouches. I’ve had one before but this pouch was a bit dryer and it did not settle well at all. My supervisor had to give me some time to recoup.

I also had an absolutely awful experience with salmon. Never again will I go near what was one of my favorite foods.

White meat chicken is a no go too.

  10. I'm a big fan of all kinds of nuts, especially peanuts.

Would you consider those fairly healthy? I know they have a lot of Protein but are higher in fat and sodium but those are two things I'm not directly focused on.

I want to buy a canister of Flamin' Hot Peanuts and was curious to know if any of you would do the same?

The stats in the post block are a little skewed. My starting weight was 370, way back in 2011. I got down to 300ish and then floated around 300-310 since, I'm down 48.2 since my surgery on March 21st. I tried to figure out how to add all the states to denote the first "failed" WLS... but sadly this forum isn't configured to allow that. Sorry for the confusion!

That's no problem, still impressive. I'm about 40 since my surgery so it looks like I'm on pace.

I was I was doing something really wrong!
