  1. I am checking in, boy have I missed the support...where to start.... the doc who did my surgery left 4 months after I was banded. The hospital gave me the name of another doc whom I have had dealings with and I really like, however...he is NO LONGER doing bands. He does do fills, and will check the band but he does not do support groups. There is NO LOCAL support. I figured, thats ok I got this under control! And, I did! for over 2 years...well, now...I don't know what is going on...I have gained back almost 20lbs of the weight I lost, and I had not gotten even close to my goal. So, I decided to start fresh...I am doing 3 days of liquids..then I am going to do 5 days of soft foods, and then my protein/veggies. I have noticed I can eat way more than I should. I am not following the rules about portion control. I have had soda the past 6 months (another bad habit) I was drinking 3 or 4 large sweet teas per day...not even getting close the eating the amount of Protein I need to eat. So, I am hoping that by going back to square 1...the liquids, I can break the other bad habits. Is anyone else struggling??? Tonya
  2. hang in there!! have you tried journaling you thoughts and why you are eating??
  3. Hi there...I was banded on 6/27 and would love a mentor to help me over the next stage of my life!!! I am a mom, married, and live in IL!
  4. I am not sure how to add... I get my band on June 27th~
  5. wow, your doc is wayyy more easy going than mine! I am on liquids for 2 weeks, them mushies for 2 weeks, then normal food...taking it very easy. I would bring along a couple of cans of protein drinks...just to be safe!!!! Slim fast low carb is pretty good!
  6. ohhh that sounds soo very good!! thanks for sharing!!
  7. Hi there!!! I understand about being nervous!! i am too!!!! feel free to email me... tonyagarst@comcast.net I have started the pre-op diet (monday) to get ready for surgery. I did not wait till friday, because I know that I may slip up..and wanted a few days of cushion so it would not hurt me. I also walked yesterday!!!! 50 minuets!!! wahooooo
  8. Hi Lynn.. I am in the Kankakee area and Dr. Soriano is doing my surgery on 6/27...are you also in IL???
  9. my doc has me on 2 protein shakes (breakfast/lunch) and a high protein low carb dinner for 13 days before surgery. The day before surgery I am on clear liquids ONLY...the day of and the day after surgery...again clear liquid only....then back to protein shakes (3x a day) for the next 2 weeks.... My BMI is 38.6..a couple of reason I was "personally" given was two-fold...one is that this "plan" will help you shrink the liver, making the surgery easier (for the doc) and the other was it gets your mind set going for weight loss...
  10. LOL I just did the SAME darn thing...got rid of the winter 2x clothes!! LOL...I went to Avenue and they had some really cute sweaters in 14/16 so I bought 3...figure even if I am a bit smaller than that by fall (right now i am between 18/20) that would be ok...sweaters can be worn a bit big...and they were 6.99! If you want a buddy I would be MOREEE than happy to email back and forth with ya!!!!! i will send you a private message with my email!!!
  11. my bmi is wayyy below 50..actually it is 38.8 and i am still required to do the 2 week pre-op...the doc said he requires it to make the surgery easier...
  12. If you are starting your pre-op on the 17th you should get your band withing a couple of weeks!!!! my pre-op diet is 2 protein shakes a day and a healthy low carb meal. I was doing the kashi shakes, but they are to high in carbs so those will not be taken for the pre-op. My nutritionist said that the slim fast low carb drinks are ok to do...as well as sugar free carnation instant breakfast (add 1/3 cup dry powder milk and 8 oz of skim milk...23gms of protein) I am supposed to start on Friday...but I think i will start Monday...that way I don't have to worry about the weekend...I am afraid if I try starting on Friday...the weekend will be there and I won't have my "routine" in place... Have you sent off your information to the insurance yet???????
  13. No, I did not have to loose any weight before surgery. I am required to do the 2 week pre-op diet to help shrink the liver. You need to stopping thinking about your last meal, and focus on how great you will look and feel...kwim? I gave up soda 45 days ago...when I start craving it, I tell myself...nothing at all tastes as good as being thin feels...as nutty and corny as that sounds..I believe it is the truth. I was a size 5/6...I know what "thin" feels like..I don't expect to be a 5/6 again, but I do expect to be in the onederland and normal size clothing instead of plus sizes... so that is what I am thinking...
  14. that is my concern too. the band is only a tool, and a lot of what i have read is 80% of it is mental..lol! that is why i am looking for a buddy!! I figure if i have someone to check in with, compare notes with, and get/give encourgement I will do muchhhh better!!!!!!
  15. I am looking for anyone who is scheduled for 6/27 that wants a buddy to go through the surgery with... I have to start my pre-op on 6/13 and would love to bounce ideas and suggestions off someone who is going through it with me.... :tongue2:
