  17. i am scheduled for september 24- i am so excited- i am looking for others being banded at or around the same time to buddy with :whatchutalkingabout
  18. i am not sure if this is helpful or not- i am scheduled to be banded in september- my surgeon and my endo both told me that i needed to nothing special - as the weight came off - and it will come off- my symptoms would slowly subside- and the goal would be to be off all my meds within a year- i hope they are right- only time will tell
  19. hi there i am 5'3" and i am scheduled to be banded in september- you have to like your doctor-trust him be confident in him/her etc. i did not like the first specialist i went to - i am not having surgery with him surprise surprise- i am having surgery with a doctor that listed to me - and we made the decesion together on the lap band- that is the surgery i wanted to begin with. there are other doctors out there. i would be concerned if a doctor is pushing one procedure over another without discussion or reasoning-
  20. hi karen! i am robyn.i am hoping to get my date on tuesday the 22nd. my hoops were support group meetings, nutritionist, nuclear stress test, glucose tolerance test, many lab test (took 11 vials of blood ) and a psych eval. i would have already been done but another medical issue popped up and i need to have surgery which put me a bit behind. i did not have to keep a journal or have a six month weight loss period but doctors differ in there own regiment for lack of a better word. i have blue cross for my insurance- they require medical documentation that shows my current health and chronic conditions that would benefit from the surgery. i did have to prove that i have tried unsucessful to diet with little or no improvement- i had my own documentation showing weight watchers ediets tops as weel as purchased excerise equipment and books etc. my doctor had a form that all i had to do was check off what i had tried and give the dates. i believe that form will be sent to the insurance carrier. each insurance carrier varies and within the insurace carrier- there are different types of plans and each one the plans can vary. there is no black and white- insurance is kind of a gray . i would recomennd that you contact your insurance carrier and speak to a benefit specialist- give them CPT code your surgeon will bill( you can get this from his/her office) and verify that the procedure is covered and if it is see if the insurance carrier with give you a list of their requirements to make sure all your ts are crossed and is dotted
  21. good luck to you. i just recently finished all my hoops and am awaiting the response/approval from my insurance and them my surgery date. the insurance carrier determines the hoops you must jump thru so to speak. i was lucky enough to be able to do most of my requirements by taking one day off from work and scheduling all i could. i am medical insurance biller. if you have any questions or problems feel free to contact me.
  22. i have fulfulled all my requirements....the seminar, 2 support group meetings, i received cardiology and psych clearance labwork and nutritional appointments. i am extremely anxious for my appointment - i am concerned that he is going to make me wait. dr t. required me to have fistulla surgery before he would operate- and i have done this. i see my colin surgeon tomorrow to find of if i am all set or need another surgery. i am afraid i will have to put off the lap band even farther.
  23. they made me schedule my 2 nutrition visits a month apart my first one is the end of april and the second the end of may- do not worry - i wish mine was moving faster i justg had a hard time getting in withthe nutrionalist they required
  24. i think i am in the same stage as you- i have chosen my surgeon and have finished all my pre op with the execption of my nutrition consult. i am 40 and i too am sick of the gain then lose then gain cycle. my mom is not thrilled by the idea of the surgery and i am 40 . i am not sure when my surgery is going to be scheduled but i am hoping for june or july and to get started on my new path- good luck to you and let me know when you get your date- robin in ellington ct
