    Substance abuse

When I had my Psyche evaluation I asked the Dr what would disqualify me from being approved for the surgery. One thing he stated was being an alcoholic since I would need to refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages during my recovery from surgery. As for you. You should seek the help of a qualified medical professional who can offer you guidance and treatment.

    So tired

I'm ok when I stay home. When I go out just to shop I'm exhausted. I attribute this to the trauma of surgery and only drinking liquids. I'm hoping to get more energy when I start eating more proteins in the puree phase.
  3. Dianne I drink all my water with crystal light. Thanks for the tip. I'm still on my liquid phase and will be heading into the puree phase at the end of this week and I don't want to experience a three week stall.

    September Sleevers?

RSM I'm 60 and had my sleeve surgery 8/31/17. My main goal was to get off my meds for diabetes and cholesterol. Upon being discharged from the hospital all four of my diabetes meds were discontinued. Pre surgery my glucose was 200-210. Now its 89-106. It looks like I might be able to reverse my diabetes. Time will tell. Good luck on your surgery.
  5. I was sleeved on 8/31/17. So far I've lost 17lbs. My only problem is my glucose level is low in the morning. One reason I had the sleeve was to control my diabetes and to get off diabetes meds. To counter the low glucose I drink a few ounces of fruit juice and Im back to a normal range. At 1st it was difficult to get my fluids. It seemed after a few zips I was full. After a week post op I have no problems with drinking my liquids. As for pain, had some the first three days at the incision site where my stomach was removed. I still have the bruise there. I plan on going back to work this week( week and 1/2 post surgery) so recovery wasn't too bad. I wish all my fellow sleevers the best and that we all shed our past bad eating habits as we progress.
  6. The only pain I had was the incision the surgeon removed my stomach from. It was sore but I was able to deal with the pain. I don't like taking narcotics. When I went home the Dr. wanted to prescribe Percocet. I declined the script opting for oral Tylenol. A week later I still have the bruise by the incision but no pain.
  7. My reason for the gastric sleeve had to do with my health. I had coronary by pass surgery at a young age, I'm diabetic and have other health issues. I take nine pills and one injection to control my ailments each day. It would be only a matter of a few years when my Liver and Kidneys would fail due the the amount of meds I take. I talked it over with my doctor and he agreed that sleeve surgery would be good for me. He did tell me the bypass had better results but after a coronary bypass I didn't want to be ripped open again. I wasn't that heavy 211 at 5'6". I used tell people that I was just chubby. That's my reason for having the surgery. I hope that I can get down to 165lbs. The day I left the hospital all four of my diabetes meds were discontinued. This morning, my glucose level was 86. Just last week prior to my surgery it was 210. I'm hoping my cholesterol meds will be next to go.
