I had my surgery on 9/5. I prepared for this for one year. Nothing could Have prepared me for the recovery period. I planned on staying one night in hospital, and ended up staying three nights. My surgery was on Wednesday morning and I went home Saturday night. As I am writing this, I feel pretty good, and each day I feel that I am getting better and stronger. Day two I was vomiting blood, and for the remainder of the days I was not able to keep one thing down.
I highly recommend you staying in the hospital at least 1 to 2 nights. I know that everyone experiences things differently, and we are all different and how we recover, but for me it was a tad bit rough. I was not vomiting up fresh blood, it was all blood that was just residual from the actual surgery in my stomach, I had the VSG done by a very renowned surgeon. He is one of the best, and I completely trusted him with this entire process, and like I said, I feel better each and every day and I am so grateful to God, but please do not try and go home on the first night, stay in the hospital and let those nurses help you.
Any one go home the same day ?
