getting really bored of the purée diet and i have 2.5 weeks left of it... any suggestions on how to spice it up? i can start eating eggs on friday so i’m sure that’ll help but i’m getting so bored with yogurt, Jello, applesauce etc. i love refried Beans but after 3 bites i’m painfully full.
Have you tried the infamous ricotta bake? Are you allowed tuna? I was allowed tuna. Thankfully I only had to do that stage for a week

Go figure, It's part of my approved list. Believe me I will be avoiding it from here out. I'm just glad this happened this far out. I had nausea for 2 days after surgery and then it went away. Never had problems since until today with anything. I can't imagine the pain you guys that can't hold some things down early on must go through. Luckily I had no pain and it came up pretty easy. My next meal for today will be a trusty old shake.

It’s weird that steak and other forms of beef are on my okay list, just not ground beef. And I can’t imagine what it’s like for people going through this early on either. I experienced nausea and a phantom vomit session a few hours after surgery but I didn’t get nauseous again until the day I was discharged and they gave me something for it. Never experienced nausea again after that. 5 weeks post op and I handle most of the foods on my okay list well. I love ground beef but I’m afraid to even take a chance on it, lol. Conflicting info from my nutritionist and my surgeon’s office. And you definitely can’t go wrong with a shake

I have a question. This morning 2nd day on phase 4 which allows me to eat meat, I tried ground beef. My wife made fresh burgers last night for dinner with an 80/20 mix and I took 1oz of one of the patties. I ate about 1/4 of it and done. Couldn't eat any more, I was too full. After about 35 minutes after I took a small sip of Water then went for a second. I didn't swallow it because I had that tightness in my chest suddenly build up really strong. Then kicked in the nausea. 1st time since surgery I had to vomit. Silly and it probably doesn't matter but when this happens do you track that as a meal? Does any of it get into your system in that amount of time?

Well for one, I was told to only use the leanest ground beef prior to surgery, but post op, I was told not to eat any ground beef because it is too tough for my new pouch to digest. I’m back on a full diet and I still haven’t bothered it because I was instructed not to. I’m sorry you went through that. Maybe it was too much for your new tummy

Ok, the last major hurdle I needed to get over has been complete. Surgery paid in full. :D

I talked to my surgeon this morning about all my concerns, worries, and anxieties. I was reminded of why I chose him as he is so caring and compassionate. He put all my fears to rest and told me I could call him whenever I needed.

And then he said, "All this practicing you've been doing to transform your eating habits will pay off." And I thought well ****...with everything going on I totally and completely forgot I should have been practicing sipping, taking smaller bites, chewing well, etc. So I guess I have the next 4.5 days to cram all that practicing in! lol

I still forgot to ask him what he thinks a healthy weight is for me to target. But I suppose there is plenty of time after the surgery to discuss that.

You have totally got this! And I’ll be honest, I didn’t practice that at all. Only practiced chewing more and eating with smaller utensils. My pouch definitely made certain that I nibbled though, lol. Things will feel like lead hitting your new stomach. You will catch on quickly. Best wishes! 🤗

So now that my time is getting closer I'm getting more anxious and worried about things.

I worry that I won't have the discipline to eat like I need to after the surgery and I'll ruin everything. I worry that something horrible will happen and I won't make it out of surgery, leaving my kids all alone, and devastate my mom on top of just losing my dad. (I know, morbid thoughts!)

I also worry about handling the comments about my weight loss at work since I won't be telling anyone. I haven't even told my boss yet that I am having a surgery since all this other stuff happened. I suppose I need to do that tomorrow.

I've very frustrated that I really want to pay for my surgery to get that weight off my chest but my surgeon's billing dept will not call me back!

I think I have a good handle on what I'll be eating for the first two weeks after surgery, but that third week has me anxious as I'll be back at work at that point. Need to do a lot of planning for that.

To top all this off my husband keeps saying he's not sure if he can get time off for the time I'm in the hospital. I think that's crap but he keeps saying he took all this time off for my dad's funeral and he just started a new job at his company last week. But whatever. My back up help was going to be my mom, but now she's going back to Illinois to be with her family for a few days and won't be back until the day after my surgery. I don't really need anyone to be in the hospital with me (although it would be nice), but I do need someone to get my kids to school so a little help would be nice.

UGH...I just think I'm under way too much stress right now!

My dear Emily, you have got this. Breathe! You will have the diet down because you wanted change and honestly, I don’t think you’re really going to crave the awful stuff too much. And I pray things work out with the pick up situation for your children. Are there any people close to you beside your family members that know about your surgery that can help with your kids?

oh yeah that def helps!! i’ve been drinking a lot of chicken broth and today i tried the Premier Protein Water raspberry flavored and drank a whole one. it was a little too sweet for me so i diluted it with Water. one bottle is 16.9 oz and i cut it with water every time so i know i reached my goal of 32oz!!
Nice! And I got so tired of chicken broth! I started using French onion Soup (strained), and beefy onion soup (also strained). I haven’t tried any Protein waters yet

ugh yeah how weird is that! i think it’s probably more so if i were talking the narcotics but since i’m not i could probably drive if i really wanted to. but they want you to have full range of motion and i guess it is a little sore if i were to turn around when pulling out or something. luckily i don’t really need to go anywhere for the next few days!
Oh okay, got it. 31 days post op and I still feel like my range of motion could use a little more work. I walk fine but if I bend or turn my body weird I’m in pain. It’s awful. I want the faint soreness in my tummy to leave already

I’m 5 days post op and honestly really struggling with cravings, commercials, etc. Hoping a couple weeks out when I move to pureed stuff this gets easier. Just sipping Water and Clear Liquids is getting old. I’m hanging in there because I know the end result is worth it.
I am so sorry! The liquid stage in general is just so tiring! I think you will feel much better when you get to the purée stage. Hang in there!

congrats on being down 10lbs that’s awesome!! you got surgery 7/25 as well right? i haven’t weighed myself yet.

ugh yes even though i was tired after getting out of the house was so nice. can’t wait to be able to drive though
You’re not allowed to drive? I don’t drive but they told me it was fine as long as I wasn’t on my liquid narcotic pain killers which I only took the first day I came home. And I’m guilty of stepping on the scale every single day 🤦🏽‍♀️

I only got three shots at the hospital and none to take home, I got then in the back of my arm, went to krogers and home depot today on the wheelchair thingies felt great to be out and about .. still scared to force liquids and have my pouch expand since Im still so inflated i feel like Im going to explode, other than that I'm down 10 pounds!
Lucky you about the shots. I had to take them because of the birth control I’m on. It’s been ruining my life for the past couple of months so I’m having it removed from my arm on Monday. And definitely don’t force the liquids. Drinking too much makes you feel like a brick just hit your pouch. And congrats on the 10 lbs!
