  1. I was sleeved on 8/23. It has been a whole month and I have only lost 25 pounds. I'm a big girl I should have lost more. I'm not eating nearly what I was eating before but staying under 900 calories a day. What is wrong with me? Why am I not losing? I feel like this was all a mistake and I'm going to just stay fat forever. The scale hasn't moved in about 2 weeks and my heart is broken.

You will lose again!!! And 25lbs in a month is a huge loss. When I feel stagnant I focus on increasing Protein and Water and things move again. Have patience, you didn't gain the weight overnight either.

  2. For me if I eat too fast I het nauseated. Then if I've been real bad I lose my tummy contents. Just saw my doc today and am down 20% of what I want to lose total. So I'm happy with that I think reading everyone's pounds lost is difficult cuz we all started at different places and have different goals of how much we want or need to lose. So percentage of the goal might be better way to express the loss, at least for me. Thanks for sharing.

How far out are you? I am down 16% of my goal from surgery day. 36% from my highest recorded weight (that was on prednisone).

  3. ... Also, on another note, I was at King Soopers the other day and saw protein-infused Water in the diet/exercise supplements section of the store. I was intrigued to try it out but considering it's $10 for four bottles, my attitude quickly shifted to "screw that".

Ok girl, I tried Isopure Protein water and hated it. It was the smell that got me and I could not drink it. So in my opinion I would steer clear. I did by genpro unflavored Protein Powder and it goes great in Soup, so that may be an idea.

  4. My WLS group's goal for all patients is 3 squares/day. Mind you, by the end of the 2 year program. Obviously I can't get all of my requirements in 3 meals right now, but once I can, I won't need more meals.
Their point is, eating 5-6 small meals a day (every 2 hours or so) leads to grazing on food all day. Your metabolism/body gets confused on the nearly constant supply of food source, that it's not able to utilize it properly. Having decent breaks between balanced meals gives your digestive system the opportunity to perform it's sole purpose in the way we were designed to work. Eating smaller, yet more frequent meals may lead to less desirable habits, and food choices, and mindless "grazing".

Thank you for that perspective. I can barely rat 3 meals a day now, but it's good to have that in mind as I work on my routine. I had previously read eating every 3 hours was best. Prior to surgery I was eating 3x with 2 optional Snacks. I honestly never ate more than 2x per day before but I ate poor choices and large portions. I think the sleeve was a perfect choice for me because of that.

  5. Which app were you using? Does an alarm go off?

I didn't think about this option. I haven't looked lately, but certainly in the beginning, foodie apps didn't fit with my Bariatric way of eating. While I'm still struggling to eat more than 2.5 ounces at a time, regular reminders could be helpful.
Though my NUT talks about grazing and dangers of eating too often, so there's conflict.

Baritastic is a good app that focuses on Protein, Water, carbs. It has a reminder function, I added one for Vitamins.< br>
What are the dangers of eating too often? I don't have my post op class until October as it takes 6 weeks to get to solids on my surgeon's plan.

  6. When I overate it was under 5 oz of food (I'm allowed 6) and it was literally from one bite to the next. It wasn't pain per se but this fullness in my chest and throat like I could literally feel the food backed up. I get more pain pain if I eat too fast, this was so uncomfortable to the max and it was nearly instant.

That is totally how it happened for me. 1 Bute I was good, the next in pain. It was super intense pressure in my stomach and chest.

  7. I had gastric bypass 12 years ago. I lost 175 pounds. In the past 4 months I have lost 52 pounds. I just can't hold any food. I have no energy at all. I can't even work. I've had terrible stomache pains and have to wear warm ups since they are loose. I look anorexic. I am really scared. I have been to my gastroenterologist and he has run all kinds of tests (endoscope, colonoscopy, ct scans, etc). He did have to stretch my esophagus because I had a hard time eating meat and that helped that but I still can't eat. Something had to have to the pouch. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? I NEED HELP BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE! Thanks.

Look not to frighten you but yes I have seen this and it's not great. Keep working with your PCP to get referrals and make sure you are meeting calorie needs, like drinking high Protein Shakes in the meantime. Have you seen your original surgeon again? Mine will follow me for life. Or find a bariatric center and consult them.

  8. They had me taking pills the day after surgery and it sat heavy but was totally fine. I didn't start my big pills for 2 or 3 nights but that was just because I was scared.

If you're really really nervous, no matter the med you likely can pull apart the capsules and eat it with some applesauce or something similar. You just can't chew the little balls inside.

Please check with a pharmacist before pulling capsules apart. Not all can be pulled apart without complications such as extended or controlled release pills. This can cause dangerous complications with some meds, such as blood pressure pills (Just one example).

  9. I had to track my liquid intake in 15 minute increments. No more than 2 oz every 15 min (in this tiny little shot (pill) glasses) and I couldn't leave till I drank x oz within y hours. I definitely fibbed a little to get home after only one night. The hospital bed caused more pain than my incisions and my particular ward had patients that left me a little traumatized.

Less than 2 weeks till solids for me!

For those on the soft food/solid border I made this amazing mash. Riced cauliflower, sweet potato and ground turkey. Garlic and a little onion for seasoning. So good. It's not quite solid or soft.

I had to track too. And have managed pain and nausea plus walk a certain distance. Honestly I was so well cared for, but I am a nurse in the same hospital (different unit). I only nlknew 1 CNA and she was a personal friend but a surprise to see her there and I was kind of babied. It was comforting especially while I was miserable and vomiting.

But I was so happy to get home to my own bed and husband

  10. The remarkable thing is how different each of these programmes are. For me, they discharged me from the hospital as soon as I could handle full liquids, a couple of days later I could start the purée diet and now, I am on soft foods.

Man I feel cheated and jealous! I am supposed to do puree for 2 weeks. I feel I could avoid more carbs on soft/regular. But oh well.

I was in the hospital 2 days because of vomiting day 1. Doing ok since.
