  1. Hello all,
I had gastric bypass in November. I had this done not for weight loss but to prevent my Barrett’s esophagus from turning into cancer. Before surgery I had really severe GERD. After 3 months I’m still pale and weak. I take all the Vitamins I was prescribed while also eating my Protein and taking in the Water I’m supposed to. I was curious if anyone else has had this issue afterwards?

I was pale and weak until I got referred to a Hematolgoist and got an Iron transfusion. Have you had your iron levels checked ?

  2. Thank you for your updating posts. I go in day after tomorrow (by pass) not so worried about surgery as I am of what it will be like after. I have had plenty of surgeries before and know I tend to vomit from the anesthesia so asked the dr to make sure to put the anti nausea patch behind my ear, worked great for other surgeries.
i like that you came back as a post op report from your pre op.
I have also been having a lot of back pain from an injury last March and hope that doesn’t make things worse after surgery.. I have to go back to work the next week (no vacation time yet).
How much have lost so far and in how long?
    Thanks!

    Mine is on Thursday :)

  3. No he didn't what is a belly binder? I had a c section 11 yrs ago but never got one of those. But I can definalty say this is worst then a c section. But I got the chewable tabs. Could not find the strips at all smh took 2 nothing yet uggh

It’s a wide stretchy band of fabric that you pull all your stomach close to your body (compression). It really helped me with pain. Especially when sitting or bending over.
They have them on Amazon. Maybe you can ask your dr what they think?

:( hope they work soon for you. Has pain stinks.

  4. So I am 6 days post op and I am still in alot of pain but only on my right side where they stomach out at and where I had my drain in at. It' Just i have to hold my stomach up as I walk and I came down with a cold so I have to hold my stomach in when I have to cough smh, it' the worst I mean goodness. Also when I drink my stomach is very painful as the drink is going down, why is That? Will it get better soon? I think I'm having gas too,. When I do drink I have the urge to burp as well but nothing really do just lil tiny burps sometimes.

Did your surgeon give you a belly binder ? I’m getting one and I know after c section I used mine and it helped a ton. Just an idea ? :)
Also if you try a stuffed animal or folded up blankets instead of your hand helps so much more with the coughing pains. Just hold it close.
Have you tried gas x strips for the gas ? I’ve seen many swear by them.
    Hope this helps :)

  5. Hi everyone. This past week I have really been struggling with dizziness and my energy level. I am falling asleep by 8:30 each night. I am keeping up with fluids, Vitamins and Protein requirements, so when I talked to my nurse practitioner, we both thought it might be an issue with Iron. I am going in for lab tests later today to check it out. Has anyone else had this happen about a month out from surgery? My Multivitamin has an Iron supplement, so I am hoping to figure this out without another pill. I will also try to get in more iron rich foods that aren't meat based, since meat is still hard for me to digest.

That’s how I was with low iron. A simple infusion helped a ton. Glad you are getting it checked out just in case.

  6. Thank you to everyone who responded to my question. You all had wonderful things to say and it helped put my mind at ease. You're right....I did make the decision to do this while I was in a clear and rational state of mind and I trust and I KNOW that this is the right decision for me. Thank you for the well wishes and support. It means the world. It's nice to know other people have been through or are going through the same thing you are and came out on the other side all the better for it.[emoji4]

I’m so glad you are feeling better :)

  7. Hello everyone,

Monday I had another upper GI which did show I had a stricture. I was admitted into the hospital on Wednesday. Thursday they did an endoscopy with balloon to open the stricture. I was released yesterday (Saturday) since my vomiting and heartburn was under control.

So I’m out and I feel SO much better. I actually slept through the night last night and woke up early today.

The doctor did send me home on raglan and lorazepam to help everything move through my stomach.

My only issue now is figuring out what my stomach can handle so that I can meal prep for work this week.

Thank you all for checking in on me and getting me all of the great advice and support !!

Glad to hear you are better [emoji4]

  8. I’m getting the sleeve on feb 1st. Honestly, my band tried to kill me. I had it 10 years almost and lost 120. I loved it for awhile. However; last January it failed and slipped. I couldn’t even drink Water , it felt like I was being stabbed over and over. I was throwing everything up. I had it removed and they took out tons of adhesions and scar tissue. I still have a bunch I’m sure he will take more out this time. From what I see if we commit to the plan it will work. Hope this helps some [emoji4]

  9. he bulk of what I’ve been seeing is most sleevers love theirs. They love to see their weight coming off even if they went thru hell with complications. Some people jump into surgeries and don’t mentally prepare and just eat every dang thing they used to.
Everyone has to do the work to succeed. Try not to listen to everyone. My dad (rip) used to say “opinions are like aholes everyone’s got em” lol

  10. I hope I'm posting this question is the right place. I filled out the pre-op paperwork for Dr Garcia in Mexico and got my quote. I was honest as to having three C-sections and Lipo on my lower stomach. I was quoted the standard price.
I know I have scar tissue or adhesions as I do feel pain and tenderness at times in my lower abdomen a few inches above my C-section scar and a feeling like something is ripping every time I sneeze.
My question is, has anyone with scar tissue or adhesions had any complications with the getting the sleeve and/or healing? Or did it present a problem for the doctor upon going in? Just wondering..
    Thanks [emoji4]

So my band of almost 10 years failed and I had to have it removed and I had a huge amount of scar tissue and adhesions. He said it will be no problem and that it will just be more sore possibly then a person without any surgeries. I also had gallbladder removed last year too. It should be fine :) a good doctor should be able to navigate and take it out.
