    Let's see.
    Today I had:
A cup of 1% cottage cheese
1 egg and 3oz kidney Beans
    1/2 large apple
2oz rice krispies treat (off plan.. plate sitting there was my undoing)
1/2 cup 2% milk and 5oz evaporated milk
    4oz beef steak
Extra Vitamins (they have calories and protein)
    Total: 1280cal 83g Protein
Gonna have to be better. Things keep on slipping in. Sigh..

I was a really good girl for around 1 and 1/2 years. Trying to eat and focus only on my eating and taking my time to chew. I still don't drink with my meals. I know that is something I will do for the rest of my life. It is one thing I won't have a problem with because it hurts my "PRISSY POUCH" if I try to drink. I notice I have got away from the sit down at the table etc. So I guess I should get back to basic's.

Ok, I should eat better. Right after surgery I did sit and eat slowly, but now I've gotten in the habit of grabbing my food and eating any old place, as quickly as possible. (Bad, Bad Berry!)
    Yesterday:
1 small apple with 1oz cashew butter
    2 cups 2% milk
    4oz beef steak
    1 egg and 3oz Beans
Total: 1100 calories and 63g Protein

OK, despite the ongoing ravenous hunger from PT, I'm staying the course and am now officially down a few more tenths of a pound to 230.4lbs (nekkidy/poop and pee free) this morning. I'm continuing to ask myself every time I get a hunger cue at inappropriate times, "Why am I eating?" So far, it's stopped me from major jungle fever interaction with mah food! I sit down at the table for dinner and the other meals I'm either working at my computer or else I'm working at monkey business at my computer chatting with you guys in the forum...not ideal. I should ideally be focused solely on eating and sitting at the table. I think doing a pre-workout lunch and a post-workout lunch maybe help with the hungry, hungry hippo problem I've been having as a result of the added exercise and added hunger.
Question: Do you eat at your table? Do you eat slowly-savoring and chewing each small bite as directed by your doc? Do you put your hand and fork down between bites? I just read an article that suggests perhaps that people who eat faster are more prone to metabolic syndrome. So HOW do you eat?
Eating faster linked to metabolic syndrome article
Study about eating speed and metabolic disease rates-yes, it's only an association study and association cannot prove causation...

Well, if we self-erase (which we can't, cuz we can no longer edit after 1 hour I think), then we won't have food ideas to go back and look up when we need them?
But, yes, as sad as it is, it doesn't appear that there are many who want to do a daily menu thread. But there are some...lol. So until I get bored with it, I may just amuse myself and post my daily menu in this thread through November, then start one for December. Cuz you know, I'm ornery that way. Andrew Meany and passive resistance and all, "Thank you sir, I prefer not." hahahaha

I hope it will give people inspiration (not me, cuz you know, I'm pre-surgery), but I know afterward, I will go back and re-read all the posts. So hopefully it will help each of us stay on track, but also help others!

No, I should have named this differently. If we start new threads each week, the threads will quickly overrun the "Recent Posts" area to the right of the screen. I would hate for that to happen. So I suggest just keeping this thread through the end of November and beginning a December Menu thread. Will that work for everyone?

Fluffy, I don't post what I eat because I am a weird eater. But...I do like to read this. I'm sure the Friday night has something to do with "NO POSTERS". Thank you for starting this. To document your food is the way to get where you want to be. RIGHT It will come together.

I read it every day. I haven't had surgery yet and have been doing a lot of food funerals. But I read and take notes of things that will be good choices for me to try after surgery (likely Xmas week). I hope you and others continue!

I have gained back a considerable amount of my lost weight do to deaths and depression and bad eating. I wanted to see about a revision and now that I have insurance( had to pay cash for my surgery in 2005 ) so I went to a new doctor at Kaiser (my insurance). They had me do a upper GI test( had to drink barium and had x rays.) they said my pouch hadn’t stretched. I believe it cause if I am eating health foods like meats and vegetables I get full fast. But if I eat slider foods I can eat more. So just getting back on track by drinking Protein Shakes and having 1 meal a day at first.
So maybe start with seeing if you pouch has stretched.

I’m super excited that I got my surgery date today! Saw my surgeon last week on Wednesday the 18th, at that time he submitted my paperwork to the insurance company for approval. I was anxious all weekend and expected to hear something by Tuesday, so when I got up and made some phone calls this morning. My first call was to the insurance company and was delighted to find out that they had approved me and had already sent the approval over to my doc. So, immediately I got back on the phone and called over to the Drs office and they set me up with a date for November 7th. It just seems so surreal!!

I am 7 months out, have lost 73 lbs from my highest weight, but have been stalled for 4 months.
Lost 63 lbs the first 3 months and only 10 lbs the last 4 months.
While my tolerance to foods got better I didn't think I was doing that bad until I started logging everything down again. From that I realized that I picked up so many bad habits again. And also my portions have gotten way larger then they should ever be. For a little while I was so disappointed in myself. I did all this work to get the surgery only to slowly slip back into horrible habits. I tried to ignore it and make excuses but I have finally come to terms that I have fallen off the wagon completely.
My snacking is horrible. I can tolerate almost anything. Although I can't eat a LOT. I can still eat up to almost 2 cups if I don't measure beforehand. I don't eat bad all day just once here and there but when it happens daily its enough damage. The only thing I am doing right is exercising daily. That's it.
This is hard to share but I really do want to do better and get back on track. I am now logging all my foods and measuring again. Thinking about it it seems a lot of it is food hunger or stress eating. Scheduled appointments with my psych at my surgical program. I've been feeling hopeless when it comes to my pouch these past couple weeks, like I wasted this procedure and completely broke my pouch. Trying to stay encouraged though. But any suggestions of how to better keep yourself accountable and how to get back on track would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you

Be mindful that it's also the end of the year, so insurance providers are being inundated with paperwork for procedures before people's deductibles reset on Jan 1st. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of IL, and my doc says they normally will turn around and give approval to shut and close cases like mine within a week. However, it took a little over a month to get my approval back. The contact at BCBS IL told my doc's office that because of it being 4th quarter, it was just taking longer to get through all of the paperwork. Hopefully that's not the case for you, but if it takes longer, don't stress about it! My doc still scheduled me for surgery because they knew they'd get the approval at some point beforehand.

I'm not scheduled yet. I've got my pre-op testing on 12/11 and my pre-op visit with the surgeon on the 13th. Despite that, his office has told me I'd be scheduled within a couple of weeks and, when I asked, said that Christmas week is a a reasonable expectation if I want to do it then as they expect it to be a quiet week. Soooooo, that's what I'm targeting!
