I was sleeved Sept 18, 2017. My Start weight was 313 My surgery weight was 282 and my Current weight is 252. Felt like I was at a stand still for couple weeks and began back on Protein Drink for few days, replacing Breakfast or lunch once a day. Think I will do that for breakfast this day after Thanksgiving Not that i ate much, but tried a few bites of pie : (

Pain will be managed. You will be uncomfortable for a couple of days. But think about all those clothes in the back of your closet that you are going to look amazing in. All of the good things coming up. The holidays, new years eve. No more new years resolutions about losing weight. You can do this... we all can... you got this far. Don't give up...

Hey everybody! I'm a September 19th sleever. I'll be having mine with Dr. Cauthen at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. I'm so excited!
My husband has his sleeve done this past Thursday, and has done tremendously well. No pain meds since 5 pm on Saturday, he's getting in all his fluids and Protein and walking over a mile per day! I hope I bounce back the way he has!

I had surgery in Tijuana in early April 2017. I went alone and had a great experience. I was treated very well, received excellent medical care, and have experienced no complications post-op. Make sure to do your homework and select a surgeon (and hospital) with top notch credentials and don't use price as the main deciding factor. There are many well qualified bariatric surgeons but some are better than others, just like in the States.
I arrived in San Diego on a Sunday morning, was picked up by my surgeon's driver, was driven across the border with a couple of other patients (that I hung out with periodically during the week), was taken to the hospital for pre-op testing, overnighted at a great hotel in a safe part of TJ, had surgery the next day, spent a few days in the hospital, stayed 2 more days at the hotel, then was driven back to San Diego. I spent a week there total, which gave me adequate time to rest and recover. My surgeon visited me twice a day in the hospital and once a day at the hotel. I told very few people my plans so I didn't have to deal with their bias or misinformation about surgery in Mexico. I found a lot of my time that week to be enjoyable and relaxing , like a mini vacation from my normal life, crazy as that may seem.
One thing I suggest is to be completely honest and transparent on your medical questionnaire so your surgeon can recommend the right procedure for you and properly prepare for your surgery.

Honestly, I think it has to do with people being jealous or insecure. I genuinely feel that in SOME cases, especially with women, they wouldn't want to compliment you or give you the confidence or make you feel good about yourself because they don't want you to look better or thinner than them. It's really sad honestly.
Someone in my life (a female) weighs a little less than me since my weight loss. She was happy that I was about 30-35 lbs more than her. It made her happy knowing I was bigger than her. But now my weight is going down and she has not asked about surgery, how I"m doing, feeling, etc. She says I cheated and took the easy way out and is getting pissed off because I'm a few lbs away from being the same weight as her now. She doesn't realize I'm struggling on this journey of being on liquids for an entire month and not eating fast food or drinking sodas anymore and having Portion Control and exercising will all contribute to my weight loss...the surgery isn't a magic pill....it gives me the will power and hope I didn't have before.
Eff the people who don't support you or notice you. They want you to stay down, how you were before surgery.
Your light is shining through as your coming into your new skin....just shine and blind em.

They automatically gave me zofran. Toward the end of my stay they would ask if I wanted it (I always said yes).

I only had nausea when I tried to drink, either ice chips or ice Water. The one time they left it and I drank it room temperature, I didn't get any nausea so experiment with temps if it's bothering you.

I tend to be a sleepy, ready to doze anywhere kind of person, but I slept a lot. I barely remember the day of surgery, just vaguely a visit from the surgeon and possibly from the nurses very late. I did wake up enough to post a few things online, but brief and not that coherent.

The second day I dozed most of the day except when I'd get up to pee and walk about every two hours with periodic check ins online.

Day 3 I tried to doze a little, but knowing I was going home, I was on alert for updates and I actually even turned on the TV for a few minutes. I did take a nap when I got home.

During my time off, I did nap periodically and realized I was definitely feeling more normal when I stopped needing to.

High weight - April 2016 271.5 (there may have been times when it was higher, but that's the highest recorded.)
    Surgery Weight 246.9 on August 23, 2016
Current Weight 172.3 - 99.x pounds - I want to get into the 150s. I've been stuck for about 2 months, but I'm putting on a lot of muscle -
I'm down from barely fitting into size 22 pants and 2XL tops to wearing size 10 and 8 pants and L and M tops. I am about a week from my surgiversary.

I'm 5'3". In April when my first appt with surgeon was, I was at 252. I lost weight pre surgery and was 231 a week before surgery.
I am now 5 weeks post RNY, and I weigh 198!
I urge you not to compare to other people though. I was worried about whether I was losing enough after 3 weeks, and that's the advice I got.
My surgeon says women lose a few pounds, then go several days without loss and then lose a few more, and so on. This has been the case for me.
Surgery is driving your weight loss. Do what your team recommends and you'll do great.
My goal is about 120 I think... That's a healthy BMI. I could probably go even lower, but we will see how 120 looks and feels!
