    Still difficult to eat meat

pork chop still sits kinda off with me. If i keep the amount very small and use lots of time to chew i can handle it ok. other meats sit better but they each took a different amount of time before i didn't have issues with them. just keep testing new meats at different times and it will get better with time

    Was it worth it?

Yes yes yes and thousand times again yes!!!!!!! nothing so clearly showed me how far down a dark path i had traveled than where i am today. you gain weight so slowly and withdraw from life in such small ways that you sometimes never notice till its to late. that door marked to late was what i was standing in front of 1.5 year ago. all i needed to do was hold off a little bit longer and the high blood pressure and diabetes could have finished me off. But is was the memory loss from years of sleep Apnea that was the real driving force for me, it is utterly terrifying to lose the ability to remember yesterday.

    Just read no oatmeal

one of oddest things about this journey is the total lack of any standard program. if you stay around long enough there is nothing you wont see go thru here. maybe because its new and the science behind it is not well understood even by the doctors that do it. they know it works but not much has been tested past that point and the science always takes years to sort out. maybe in the future they will sort out what is a must and what is just a doctor trying to avoid any and all problems with every patient be using broad strokes for his recommendations.

  7. so the old saying "muscle weighs more than fat" it also burns more energy every minute of every day so your BMR is higher. The idea that muscle weighs more than fat is a common misconception. One pound of muscle weighs the same as 1 lb. of fat, but muscle and fat differ in volume. One pound of fat takes up more room in the body than 1 lb. of muscle. This does not necessarily mean you’ll gain weight when you build muscle mass. If you lose fat and develop lean muscle mass, the scale will likely go down. thats from livestrong

normal is 30-60 minutes for peak then 1-2 hours of slow decline it varies greatly from person to person because we all have a different metabolism

    Grazing Causes Hunger (for me)

all eating produces an insulin spike to handle the increased blood sugar when this blood sugar starts back down it triggers a short period of hunger - the body wants easy energy it does not want to work at breaking down fat if it can avoid it. fat is the energy of survival (last resort) if you graze you start a roller coaster effect in your blood sugar/insulin response and you will always be hungry. as you become fat adaptive you will switch to fat burning with less of the hungry feeling. i just like understand the why of something going on inside of me. not everyone does so just throwing this out there. the only important part is that you noticed the effect on yourself and are now more mindful of it

    Scales

look on amazon and choose 4 stars or above. then look at weight limit- go with 350 or higher - never choose one that you nearly max out. then look at dimensions get a Large one look at bottom get biggest "feet" that are as far apart as you can see as for features i use a scale and a tape measure- nothing else matters- is my weight going down is my gut shrinking thats it Lastly never compare home weights with other scales. It does not matter if the numbers are different what matters is if the numbers at home show a decrease over time.

    Rage

will it just go away..... probably not. lots if not most of use have some type of emotional issues that make weight loss more difficult. the surgery makes the weight loss easier but does not address the emotional issues that hang around even if the weight goes away. some of use used food to deal with those issues even if we didn't realize it and when the food is taken away we are at a loss as how to handle those emotions. seek out a counselor that understands or works with WLS if you can. Even just a few visits to help you learn new coping strategies could go a long way to making you enjoy more of your new life. post op is a mental game, if your not winning get some help.
  13. I enjoy nuts -we are what we eat - so when i want a treat my go to is a Kind Bar. not a protein bar but i have no issues hitting my protein target and at 5g sugar i can fit this into my 10g or less sugar per day program as a once in while treat.

    preop liquid diet

the act of chewing food and the taste sensations cause an actual brain chemistry response. It can be disconcerting when we dont get that and that is a big part of "head hunger". It not really about being full. It mostly goes away as soon as you reach soft food stage. The pre and post op liquid phase can cause you some level of discomfort from this. avoiding food imagery and concentrating on some task to keep your mind focused elsewhere is what worked for me. good luck and grats on getting to this point in the journey

    I feel scared and ashamed...

Getting sleeved was my very first surgery and being put under was my biggest fear. That being said we cant be ruled by our fears if you let fear of surgery control you the weight will take away your life 1 pound at a time. we adjust and slow down so gradually we do not even notice how we are withdrawing from life as our weight piles up and make everything we do harder. Please face your fears and get your life -all of it - back.

    Lost 90 pounds

you don't mention your macro's so i will ask are you getting in 60-70 grams of protein everyday? and the gym is for a lot of things - your health and general we being - lots of the issues from being overweight are helped by going to the gym but its just the movement - getting your body moving for a hour or more a day that does most all the magic. All the latest studies say the same thing - working out makes you healthy but does not result in more than modest weight weight loss. So keep up the workouts cause they help heal all the damage we did to ourselves with the weight and stick to your surgeons program for the weight loss. They go hand in hand. grats on your progress you should be proud of where you are and how far you have come.
  17. only you can decide taste. and the cheapest is the one you will use. dont buy much till you know you like it even if the great big one is "cheaper"
