    Rant/FOMO

my FAT clothes are residing in a large tote in the garage. I still can't seem to reach the point of letting them go. The deep dark place in the back of your mind you try never to go to will not accept that i will not need those size 48 jeans or those 3x shirts in 6 months. So yea i kinda know that feeling. Its been 20 years since i weighed this amount so it might take me a few months to believe.

    Looking for support from strangers

how much of that 800 - 1000 is from protein? You also may be on the low side calories wise depending on your activity level. maybe a protein shake with breakfast to raise your protein intake and bump your calories a little bit. Also are you getting enough water? when we get real busy we can forget to drink on a regular basis.

dont make up a pretend surgery. just say surgery and then stare them in the eye till they slink back into the hole they crawled out of.

    Sweetners

Just chose an artificial sweetener with no glycemic load. as for the coffee i use that time to get in my Premeir protein drink by adding it in 1/3's to my giant coffee cup Amazon has great prices and costco is not bad if you have a card. I use chocolate or caramel for a great coffee. but i do drink it black after i finish the protein drink.

    Diet

Your diet has to prioritize protein to ensure you do not break down muscle mass. Carbs will raise blood sugar and that will raise insulin and as long as you have elevated insulin you will not burn stored body fat. so hydrate eat protein - fats - complex carbs no added sugars - no simple carbs calorie counts at this early stage will not matter if you are following the above.

Update: i had the sleeve May 10th

You made my day. I was so worried you would talk yourself out of it. I hope you have a great recovery and get to enjoy all that this new chance in life has to offer.
  16. My wife and daughter and I are doing dinner theater on Saturday for Mothers day. The meal will mostly come home cause i know if i eat the salad i will not have room for the main course but the main course will be a medium flat iron steak so it will reheat good for lunch the next day. It is nice to get out and see a show and just hang out. It can get tiresome to always be the WL person and it doesnt take much effort to find menu items that fit and you get 2 or meals for the price of 1
  17. everyone heals at a different rate. 1-2 weeks would be completely normal. you should feel a little better everyday it is a gradual improvement. Walk as much as you can it is the driver of the healing process. the less you walk the longer it takes.
  18. Most stay 1 day. Some programs 2 days and i have seen a few post from people that went home same night after a very early a.m. surgery. No overnight could see you there as late as 10 p.m. so dont think this means surgery to the parking lot. good luck and it will be worth the hassles.

    Easy way out!

The "Easy way out" would have been to do nothing except what we had already done over and over and continue to fail to lose the weight or worse to drop it and gain it back repeatedly. The end result would have been an early grave and the "easiest way out" congrats on your brave decision to get control of your life and dont let anyone or anything take that control away from you again.

    Reconsidering bypass

My first reaction is to always go with the surgeon. But and of course there is a But. This weight loss process you are about to start is very much a mental game post op and you need to be completely behind the process you are about to undertake. Please try to research the acid reflux issue and come to terms with your choices. The time post op will be easier if you are not constantly thinking about what you could have or should have done. good luck

One Month Post Op-Is it just me?

Just try to always have a water near at hand. You need to be able to see and grab it and get a swallow as often as you can. Just try to make getting another sip real easy.
  22. they should have, are they aware of the roller derby? For all those naysayers that preach calorie in calorie out this is all proof you need. So many hormonal things are involved in getting your body to burn stored fat. If your otherwise healthy try 6 weeks of intermittent fasting. 12 hrs for 2 weeks then 14 hrs for 2 weeks and then 16 hours for 2 weeks. see what happens. in case all the IF junk out there seems to crazy this just no calories in after dinner - nothing but water- until 12 hrs have passed then just add hours by either eating dinner a little earlier or breakfast a little late. Get all your calories during the feeding window and make sure that includes a good meal after that hard workout. with that kind of workout you may need to run a little high on the protein grams put the most carbs in the food before that workout so you have plenty of energy for knocking the **** out of people. The least carbs in last meal of the day. good luck and let us know if anything changes. This is a marathon not a sprint so have faith the weight will come off.

    I think I'm mental...

Don't we all, If i had the say over it i would remove all those months of pre surgey crap they put us thru and replace it with 6 months of therapy post surgery cause we have a hell of a mental fight to win after it is said and done.
  24. So according to a web site calculator that does math so much better than me i have reached 81 percent of excess weight loss. I should be very happy but i find myself stuck wanting that 100 percent number.

i know I have plenty of time to reach my goal just thought it funny that i cant seem to take as much pleasure in what i have achieved as what i want to achieve.

Dam the Mind games we play with ourselves.

you all have a great day.
