Hi there! I was so relieved to read this. I have been around the same weight for 3 months it seems. In June, I started weight training, but the scale is barely moving. I am still in no carbs (other than whatever carbs are in fruits/veggies) so I thought I would’ve lost a lot more than 52 pounds by now. Very frustrating.

Hang in there girl, Im glad that I reached out and see others that are in the same boat as me. Makes me feel tons better. I guess we have to just keep plugging away, I mean no loss is still better than a gain. In the meantime Im just going to make some very short term goals, so Im going to try to lose 5 pounds before i head to Disney in 7 weeks. Hopefully I can manage that! And that will be a feat in itself not to gain during that week, hopefully all the walking will offset any tastes of dole whips and churros I may have, lol.

Hi Mama - me too! I have been gaining and losing the same 2lbs over and over again for around the past five weeks

I was 4lbs off my original target at the last visit to my nutritionist about 6 weeks ago. He revised my target down the way by another 16lbs. Psychologically I felt a bit deflated after that, but boy am I getting frustrated with this lose/ gain cycle!

Am generally more active and running 3 days a week! All in all a bit disheartened now!

We have almost the same stats, you have done much better than me! I would be ecstatic to be at 175. My practice doesn't set goals, however my own personal goal is to get under 200 then Ill reset a new goal from there. That little 2 lb yoyo really messes with your mind. I know I shouldn't go on the scale as often as I do but it keeps me focused.

My experience seems radically different than most because I could eat far more than 1000 calories a day even without refined carbs. My hunger is reduced, but my ability to eat, not so much. I’ve never tested to see how much I can eat, but by week 2 I already had to count calories to make sure I don’t go over. On the one hand I feel lucky. No vomiting, little pain, can eat and drink comfortably. On the other hand, if my success is going to rely mostly on my will power, I won’t be any more successful than I would’ve been without surgery. The lack of hunger helps me now, but long term I hear your appetite comes back. When it does, I won’t have the restrictions to guide me. I’m scared. For the time being I’m doing well, tracking and doing pretty good on Protein.

Lotte I feel the same as you somewhat. In my first few weeks I was chewing chewing and eating really slow like my Dr. told me to very little resistance but I didn't push it past 4 oz, but definitely could do more if i wanted to. I've recently realized because I was super hungry one day and ate a little on the fast side and didn't super chew that I felt much more restriction and fuller that way. So now I just eat at my normal pace pre surgery and that seems to help. I think all the slowness and chewing was allowing food to slip thru my sleeve easier, thus making overeating possible.

  4. Almost 1 month out for me, I gained 2 lbs a couple of weeks in.. I think its just our bodies readjusting. I felt good and was able to tolerate food very easy. I actually started my mush phase a couple of days early because I was feeling real hunger not head hunger. But I think by actually doing well and being able to take in decent (i think) calories my weight loss has been slower than I expected. Friday will be my 1 month and I'm at 12 lbs down post surgery.

Hey guys! I messaged me doctor regarding this issue and this is what he replied...

Its reflux. I would try using two pillows to sleep or sleeping on your belly. As you lose weight and time goes by it should improve. If its not improving come see me.

You van uae phnergan for nausea as needed.

I love that my doctor has Facebook, lol. So I'm sleeping with 2 pillows tonight and I'm hoping to not wake up with neck pain. Has anyone ever used phenergan?

I bought my hubby a GERD pillow on Amazon. Its just a wedge that keeps you elevated and you put your own pillow right on top. He hasn't had anymore gagging since sleeping elevated.

Whatever you do, don't take the maximum dose of Dulcolax!! I did that (because I was feeling especially stopped up)...welp, not stopped up now! My surgeon recommended miralax (I took dulcolax because I had it on hand), but I've seen where others recommend something else. I'd call your surgeon's office and see what they recommend.

As far as whether or not you should be having bowel movements on liquids, I would say yes. You've likely still got stool in your colon, and the longer it sits there the drier and more uncomfortable it's going to get. There also is still likely some residual "stuff" from your liquids, especially the Protein Shakes, making its way down, and it may have nowhere to go if you're stopped up.

Hopefully you start feeling better soon!

I second this advice! I took a little over half a dose of Miralax, and that was more than enough to work!

Merry Christmas to you as well. My ricotta bake just came out of the oven, will be eating soon and very excited to try it. I too haven’t had any issues with drinking and eating and sometimes worry the sleeve won’t work for me. I know I need to be patient but I just wish I felt less “normal” and more like a person who just had surgery 2 weeks ago.

One recipe I would recommend is retried Beans, super filling and flavorful. I use a Vitamixer to mash them up good and then add beef broth to a smoother consistency. I also use as much low sodium products as possible.

That sounds great, I've just started with soft foods so I'm definitely going to try that! I'd like to have a few options to take for lunch when I return to work next week. I'd rather not try anything new while at work and feel sick. So happy to hear we are all in the same boat but ultimately I think it means we are doing well just needed to hear it from others.

  8. Merry Christmas everyone! Made a ricotta bake today this is the first time I felt any restriction after about 3 oz. Up until today I could do Protein Shakes, drinks, puddings very easy. Can even eat a whole yogurt with out any discomfort. Im glad I finally felt full I was starting to wonder if I ever got sleeved! kidding of course. Hope you all are doing well.

Sorry I haven’t been replying or posting much..I’ve been sooooo low on energy and mood wise the last couple of days.. day 5 post op today and so far I’ve tried 1/4 of cream of wheat ( was so excited to have warm food), couldn’t finish it or have anything other than Water for the rest of that day

Next day I tried SF chocolate pudding made with chocolate Protein Shake instead of milk and ate 2 1/4 cups (separate meals) and since that day been having bouts of nausea and weird taste in my mouth that meds weren’t helping

also crazy bad back pain and my energy is barely enough to take me to/ from the bathroom

tried a popsicle this afternoon, was refreshing and it actually made me feel a little better so i had another one and now thinking about number 3

Hang in there! I had my surgery the same day as you and have had terrible nausea. BUT I am feeling a bit better every day and walking 10 minutes at a time feels like I just finished a marathon. I couldn't do Protein Shakes till yesterday but they really give you a little energy boost.

I had my sleeve on the 11th, day 4 today! I've also had a lot of new tummy noises and sensations, and burping! My nausea has improved a lot in the last 2 days, just a bit achey now in the stomach.

Im so happy to hear your nausea is getting better. My surgery was on the 12 and the nausea is awful. If it wasnt for that I'd be running laps! Well not really but I'd feel a ton better. :)
