  1. I am 4 months and 1 day post op from my revision. I weighed in this morning at 159.8 so I appear to be holding steady. I went up to 163 then it just dropped back down. Water weight I suppose.

I had a scare a few weeks ago that sent me to the ER but I left because you couldnt even get in the door !! I then went to another hospital that had a 2 1/2 hr wait !! I then went to a 3rd that didnt have an ER. I came home after that and decided I would call an ambulance if it didnt get better. I went through 4 hrs of pain and it just stopped. I chalked it up to some kind of dumping. UGH. Now my back has been out for most of the week and I have been having pretty bad pain in lower left abdomen near pelvis. Any thoughts ? I have been debating on going in but keep thinking it has something to do with my back.

    Thanks Tracy.

I didn’t take measurements but I did lose inches. I was a 22/24 right and now I’m a 20 which is slightly big on me. I know I have to be patient, it’s just frustrating when other are losing 20 , 50, haha.

Yes it is frustrating. I do remember !!! Hang in there !! Great rewards are coming 1!

Yes doing much better but weight still super low. It’s been 7 weeks and only lost 13 lbs.

Also I get super sleepy if ive had a good meal. I usually stick to Protein Drinks and yogurt but yesterday had tiny container of mashed potatoes and I swear I was in a food coma. FelL asleep for half an hour.

I would have to agree with you on the slow part but that is 2lbs a week and at a year its 104 !!! Every lb will add up to get you to where you want to be !! Hang in there and try to envision yourself 100lbs less this time next year !! I am here anytime you need to chat.

I too sometimes have to lay down after eating and take a nap.

Have you noticed by chance if you are gaining muscle or losing inches ? I did a journal and measurements in the very beginning of my original surgery because I was a slow loser compared to a lot of others. People would say to me when I would go on rants about it that it wasnt a race and everyone journey is different. We all end up at the same place if we follow our plan. Hugs

Had my first appointment last week then they sent me to a cardiologist and psychologist. The provider said the psychologist results always delay the time for the procedure to be done. I myself got a short patience 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Yes the counseling part slows it all down. I did all of their testing and then was sent for 4 to 6 weeks of counseling before they moved me to the next phase !! I was peeved to say the least but played their game, lol. I dont have a lot of patience myself so I get it. Unfortunately you are at their mercy and there is nothing you can do about it. Take a deep breath and just get through it. Remind yourself that it will be all worth it when the time comes. Hang in there.

  5. Only being 3 weeks out I would imagine you are weak. It takes a good 4 to 6 weeks and sometimes longer to get your energy back. You have gone through a major surgery. I felt like it was Thanksgiving with the sleeve too even after being 2 1/2 years with it although it did relax the 2nd year it was still restrictive. You may be only able to take a couple of small bites of food or only be able to drink a small amount of a Protein Shake and that is normal right now. It would take me a whole day to drink a shake in the beginning and I could not have more then 5 bites of food and I was stuffed for hours.

From what you are saying about your son though it wouldnt hurt to go get checked out. I hope all is well with the both of you and its nothing too serious. Good luck on your journey !!

I feel like everyone else can get the surgery but there is no way it will happen for me. I will be the last fat person in my family and i'll die unhealthy, pathetic and hiding from the world. I lost 150 pounds before then got married to a food addict and gained almost all of it back. I can not do it anymore. If i can not get it i do not want to be alive anymore. I have no quality of life and now i have gout. I need some good news. I go in september 11th to see what the surgeon says. Anyone else feel this way?

Dont give up !!! It took me 2 years to finally have the surgery. I had to switch back to my old Dr. that was in a different town that I had moved from because my new Dr. would NOT sign the papers for me to even go see the surgeon unless I did his requirements first !!! SERIOUSLY !!! I stayed with him until I realized he had control issues and was never going to help me. I went in and seen my old Dr. who signed the papers that day and I have stayed with her ever since. I just drive 20 min when I go see her.

  7. I dont know about the insurance part unless you have GERD or something that is causing you issues.

Do you not have restriction to help you lose the weight? I do have a friend that had the revision that did well losing the weight, but there have been many people saying how much harder it is the 2nd time around. I was my original goal weight when I had the revision. I had gotten down in the high 160s and gained back to my original goal weight of 180. I dropped 12lbs the first month and I have lost a few more but that is it for me. I rarely feel anything when I eat but will get sick if I over eat or eat sugar or heavy carbs. Good luck to you and whatever you decide to do, but truthfully if you still have restriction keep your sleeve of course unless you are having bad reflux.

I’m sorry you had such a hard time! I just had my revision as well on the 8/25 and also had my hiatel hernia repaired. I also noticed that I have more pain after this surgery in relation to my original surgery!

Yes it was awful !!! You should feel much better in 4 to 6 weeks. It is different that is for sure. You will have to let me know what you think about it when you start eating. Talk about messing with my head. I was a mess but so much better now that some time has passed.

What are the requirements for revision

If you have GERD and take a PPI. I dont know of other reasons. I do know some people are able to get a revision for weight gain, but you even have to be more diligent if you are doing it for weight loss. It is not like your original surgery where you had lots of restriction and the weight came off. Personally I liked the sleeve better I had way more restriction with it. I rarely feel anything with this bypass.

    Hi Tracyringo...

I had the revisio as well. It seems I can drink fluids without a problem. I feel concern. Thought I should be able to feel some discomfort if I get full...but I don't. Should i ask my surgeon? Any thoughts?

Sent from my SM-N975U using BariatricPal mobile app

The liquids just flow right on through so you wont feel anything as far as that goes. I didnt feel anything for the first few weeks. I didnt feel anything until I added firm Protein and even then its not the same but I have gotten use to it. I have also read where people having this bypass as a virgin surgery dont feel anything. Who knew, right? Its crazy. I did say something to the surgeon while in the hospital about it and this is normal for bypass. Good luck to you !!

  11. I am weighing in at 165 this morning. I am 3 months and 3 days post op VSG to RNY. My weight seems pretty stable in the 160s which is nice. I always felt like I was struggling to keep it in the 160s with the VSG. I feel normal now like before surgery.

I am still having a little burning in the mornings before I take my PPI and they are wanting me to start switching the PPI off with something else. I am awful and cant remember if it was pepcid or zantac.. I have not been rescheduled yet for an EGD but am hoping they do that at my next post op visit in 3 months. I need peace of mind that this worked and I am healing from the erosive esophagitis grade D.

I had another episode where I overate and had to leave a dinner. UGH. I was sick for around 2 hours afterwards. I didnt think I had eaten that much but I was wrong !! I still have to be mindful of what I eat and how much. Anyone who has had the bypass know exactly what I am talking about, it is awful dumping or overeating !!

I had the sleeve 15 months ago and my weight never literally fell off. Is that a fact for most with sleeve?

I followed the plan and it came off but it was slow for me compared to others at that time. I lost 14 lbs the first month compared to other losing 20 in 2 weeks !!

7 weeks post-op tomorrow, weight today 137.6, again I'm retaining Water. I stopped taking the psyllium capsules because I was having multiple loose BMs a day. Maybe constipation will not be an issue for me as it was with the sleeve. I am still tolerating all foods. I tried cauliflower rice this week. It tastes of nothing, not even cauliflower. I put some za'atar on it to give it some flavor but I think I have to add some cheese or condensed Soup or something. I hate throwing out food these days.

Got a call from the surgeon's office and I am scheduled for an EGD the first week in October to check that everything is okay and that's when I am supposed to be able to discontinue the PPI. I have had two instances of acid, or something that feels like acid, this week. Not nearly as horrible as before surgery, but distinctly there. If it happens again I will have to pay attention to whether it is precipitated by a particular food/drink/time of day/relation to meals.

I overate for the first time on Thursday. I picked up a bag of popcorn that someone left sitting on the counter, and it felt so light I figured there couldn't be much in it. So I mindlessly kept eating it while watching TV (usually I measure my food in measuring cups) until it became clear that I was full. Too full. Painfully full. The fullness feeling was not in my chest, where my stomach is, but in my upper abdomen, where the Roux limb is. Gosh it hurt for about two hours, and I tried to vomit but it was too far down to come up, so I just had to bear it. Prior to last night I had not felt full, but I wasn't hungry, either. I think that's the feeling I want. With the sleeve it was very clear when I was full, with the RNY my stomach doesn't let me know. I think that may be at least partly due to the fact that I told my surgeon I was concerned about losing too much weight and he made the pouch bigger than he normally would.

I feel your pain on overeating and being sick for 2 hrs and not being able to vomit. ITS HORRIBLE !!

Glad you are doing well with your revision.
