That’s scary af! I need revision because of acid reflux but crap, not sure about that now

Sorry not trying to scare anyone if they need to do it for medical purposes. I had it done for medical. Just because I dont have restriction anymore doesnt mean you wont. I didnt want to revise in the first place so that has just made me more agitated about the whole thing.

I also have to go in for an EGD again because I still have the burning which gave me the esophagitis and now they thinking I may have ulcers !!!

  2. I was revised almost 6 months ago. I had great restriction with the sleeve even at almost 3 years but now NOTHING. Its hard to wrap your head around it in the beginning. I hope you all have some kind of full feeling but I DONT. I feel like I never had WLS which scares the hell out of me. I can see how people regain with the by pass for sure and until you go from sleeve to bypass you dont have a clue !

Hi I had my revision Monday 11/2. 11/3 was horrible. Not as easy as the sleeve was and I’m starving lol I cried, my nurses (2) sucked and I was in a lot of pain! More then before way more but today is day 5 post op and I’m better. My incisions started to get infected bcuz I had a rash from the dermabond so I had to Peep it off and now I’m on a horse pill antibiotic. I’m already dropping weight. I only felt a little acid last night when I had Greek yogurt. My doc gave me a diet plan to follow from day 3-16.

Congratulations !!! It takes some getting use to. Good luck !

Perhaps some of it may have to do with Pandemic? My alcohol consumption increased dramatically since March. I’ve been trying (albeit not very hard) to deal with it by keeping it out of the house. I find if there’s none around, then I can go without just fine. Problem is I eventually go out to get some. Boredom, I think.

I rarely have the alcohol in the house. I started grabbing a few shot bottles at the gas station here and there. I also started drinking where alcohol was served wherever I went . I have not had anything to drink in 2 days now and am doing okay.

Does alcohol give you a different feeling now than it did before? What is a typical situation in which you'd consume a drink?

Nope, its the same. I think it has something to do with me not being able to eat anything I want and since I cant do that maybe I am trying to put that somewhere else? I had heard of transfer addiction before I ever had WLS but since I didnt have those issues with VSG I didnt see this coming. I suppose being aware had my antenna up which is a good thing but damn. I rarely drank before but I would say I have a few drinks several times a week now which may not seem bad, but for someone like me that had a few drinks every month or two this cant be good.

  6. Its hard to believe it has been 5 months since my revision. I weighed in at 159.6 this morning and seem to be holding steady. I dont feel like my weight bounces around as much. I am getting use to the RNY but am struggling in other areas now { alcohol}. I have never been much of a drinker but have noticed an increase and am trying to nip it in the butt now. I do not understand why this didnt happen with VSG . Any thoughts ? I see the team first part of November and am going to talk to them about this

  7. You will lose weight. I was surprised that I hit the 150s. I never got below 164.8 with the sleeve and fought just to stay under 175. My metabolism isnt the best and I have never exercised through this whole thing because of my back. I strictly lost all my weight following the plan . I did lose 22 lbs after my revision 5 months ago and am maintaining with no problems. Its just different. Good luck

I've been reading through this thread and have a question. Im having revision surgery next week. Went from sleeve to MGB and now to RNY because i have horrible reflux. I had excessive weight gain in the years of trying to get to a solution, so I'd love to lose some weight with this as well, but it is not the reason Im having surgery. I see a lot of people asking for stories of success and mostly Im reading that "it's just not as fast" or "I miss my sleeve" but you guys still lost weight right? Just took longer, so had success, but not as fast as you wanted?

Hi, with the sleeve before my 3 pregnancies I could only take 3-4 bites of food before feeling incredibly full even leading to vomiting. Within a year I had lost 150 pounds with the bypass it’s no longer a pouch fullness but an uncomfortable nausea feeling. I have an Iron stomach so I’ve only had dumping once but I stick to what I know to be safe. Everyone is different. To me the sleeve was much bettter because I’m a good addict

    Agreed.

  9. I actually passed the damn thing but was ON the LINE if I remember correctly so I had to go do their extra counseling or he wouldnt pass me on for the surgery. As far as I was concerned it was a ploy for more money !!

I do realize it my be helpful for some and for those of you that get a benefit from it congrats.

    Hi

I heard gastric bypass is slightly more effective in weight loss compared to the other surgeries? Is this true?

During the honeymoon period, I am hoping to lose 14 pounds per month. How long does this honeymoon period last for?

Ask yourself what kind of eater am I ? Do you eat a bunch of junk food or do you eat to past full at meal times ? The sleeve is more restrictive so my opinion it is meant for overeaters, but if you are more of a snacker and junk food eater the bypass is better. Just my opinion.

  11. The test is ridiculous and mine took several hours. I was made to do 6 extra sessions of counseling I think before I could advance to the next stage. They cant tell who will succeed or fail from surgery by a damn test. It still pisses me off lol !! Thats okay though I showed them so they can take the test and shove it !

The gastric bypass will bring other digestive advantages other than just having a smaller stomach. Also, a pouch reset may restore restrictions of your smaller stomach. I had a gastric sleeve. At first, it was restrictive. Later I was able to eat larger meals. When I did a liquid diet years later, the pouch reset itself. I felt full after very small meals again.

Yes you may be able to reset a sleeve but I dont believe you can do that with a Bypass. I had revision and I still dont feel too much.. I started weighing my food again .

  13. Thank you all for your comments. I get violently ill when I dump and it lasts for about 2 hours. Its just awful. I had an episode a few weeks back and I dont even know what I ate to cause it but it lasted 4 hours. I have learned to lay down quickly if I think I might have an episode. I heard that it slows everything down.
