Yes you will be able to, with that being said you may want to wait until you are close to goal. Once you start playing around with foods not on the plan you may have a hard time getting to where you are trying to go. It can be a slippery slope.

My surgeon used a 34

I guess I’m learning that my body can be satisfied by not being overly stuffed from food. It’s just alarming because I was expecting to have the restriction I did when I first had surgery. I would take 3 bites and I’d be full. Now, I can finish my portion.
How do you feel when you eat 3 oz of chicken, fish, pork, or beef ? Things like that still fill me up pretty quickly

Your pouch will relax over time and its highly unlikely that you have stretched it out. I would imagine people that do stretch there pouches would be binge eaters and do it over and over again ( my personal opinion ) I was told they don't stretch but on an episode of My 600 lb life Dr. Now said one of his patients had stretched their pouch. Just stick to the guidelines your surgeon gave you. Good luck

I have read articles saying the sleeve has more restriction then the RNY . I am 23 months out and still have great restriction. Before the surgery my portion size was huge and I loved cake, ice cream and candy lol. Now I keep all that stuff out of my house and when I want something I go out and get a one serving.
Either surgery will work and you get out of it what you put into it. You have to remember its a tool. Good luck to you !

It can be very aggravating with stalls, just keep following the plan and the weight will start coming off again. My experience was I would not lose for 3 weeks but maybe a pound or 2 then BAM I would lose 5-8 pounds in a week. Everyone is different on how there bodies release the weight, so whatever you do stick with your plan.

I was going to have the by pass and the day I scheduled the surgery I changed it to the sleeve and I am so glad I did !! My surgeon told me I could lose the same amount of weight and I have lost 145 lbs !! He also said that by doing the sleeve I had somewhere else to go from there if for some reason it didn't work, but either surgery is just a tool and you still have to do the work. I can take NASIDS where I would not be able to with the By Pass. Good luck to you !

They do come in handy. Kids eat more in a sitting then I do, lol.
Have you ever had the waiter or waitress keep asking if you want something to drink? I now just tell them Water and leave it sitting there, it is just easier then explaining it or to keep saying no thank you.

I take ibuprofen 800 prescribed to me by my bariatric NP . Sleeve patients here can take it, but not by pass patients.

In the beginning taste changed a lot for me. Mostly with anything that had Tomato in it. I don't have any issues with any foods now.

No, in the beginning I took half dose in morning and half dose at night. Now I take 30mg instead of 60mg every morning.

Just now, Fazzini Bee said:My surgeon said that the pouch is trying to figure out how much acid it needs to produce. So it just takes some time. Some people, get better and some keep the reflux. I just wanted to see if anyone reflux has improved.
Well thank you for the info, I would love to get off of the PPI so I will talk to my bariatric NP and see what she says. I still have heartburn even taking the PPI and sometimes it gets really bad. Antacids do help most of the time.

Did you have by pass or the sleeve ? I have no problems with it myself and I am pretty sure I waited until 6 months post op.

I looked that up to see what it is (Carafate) and it said it was for ulcers ? I guess it has more uses then just for that?

12 hours ago, Fazzini Bee said:I started having GERD about 1 month out of surgical. I've been instructed to take zantac 2x a day and carafate 4x a day- which is horrible because of the time restriction. Can eat an hour after taking , or 2 hrs after eating. It restricts how much food you can take in.
I was wondering has anyone started with Gerd and it get better eventually?
QuoteIs what you are doing working ?
I have GERD and it started as soon as I had the surgery. They put me on ompezole which didn't work, then Dexilant which I still take today but my dose has been halved this last 3 months. Hope to be able to get off the PPI someday.

3 hours ago, Daftgirl said:@KCgirl061 @elcee i cut out added sugar, rice, bread, Pasta, potatoes, fruit, caffeine, booze, processed foods and have kept that strictness since my surgery in Dec. but I will definitely take your advice on trying different Protein foods instead of just shakes (sometimes i like to have baked chicken breast in the morning for Breakfast or a hardboiled egg white), and I think the weight lifting (not just cardio) has also changed my appetite routine! I appreciate your help! Happy 4th! Meanwhile, i just made a (zero carb) Isopure Protein Powder Mug Cake with applesauce and swerve sweetener, yum!
shakes do nothing for me except add more Protein. Can you eat scrambled eggs and bacon in morning or turkey sausage patty ? It is always best to eat solid protein all 3 meals. Good luck and Happy 4th !

I'm currently 4 months post-op and had the sleeve 4 months ago. For those that have gerd, heartburn, reflux etc. What are the symptoms? When you have severe symptoms and needed to convert, how do you describe the feeling?
Thank you!
I have it and if you have reflux you will know, it comes out through the nose and mouth while sleeping and you wake up choking ( this is my experience with it) I take meds for it and don't have that problem anymore, although I still have heartburn and take antacids when I need to. Spicy foods make it worse for me.

Ugh, if I had the money or insurance would pay I would do it . My weight loss was everywhere and I wasn't expecting the sagging thighs. I just watch everything I wear. The arms are the worst for me. I wear a medium top, but my coats and jackets are Extra large to fit my arms.

I am taking Dexilant for GERD and have recently halved the dose and I don't have any regrets. I was scheduled for RNY and changed it to the sleeve .
