    Are my expectations too high?

I weighed 296 the day of surgery and 180.4 on my 1 year. The lowest I got with VSG was 164.8 . I stuck to the plan. Good luck to you.

    help i think im overeating

Was the jello sugar free ? I dont see anything wrong with what you ate. Drop the apple juice unless it is sugar free or a 5 calorie juice. I was eating around 700 calories post op VSG within a month. If you feel you are having true hunger it could be acid. I had an acid problem with VSG and it mimicked hunger pains. Hang in there you are doing fine.
  9. You dont want to mess with the sleeve if you already have had reflux issues. I converted to bypass 2 1/2 months ago and although I wasnt very happy the first 6 weeks I have come around and its not so bad. I do dump on cereal or heavy carbs so I just dont eat that stuff especially in the mornings !!! I can drink alcohol and I dont dump on that. It really varies person to person. I know a woman who has never dumped with the bypass and she said she wish she did !! It is a good deterrent for sure.

I had a hernia and bad GERD that caused me to get erosive esophagitis Grade D.

    Is anyone else as disappointed...

At 10 weeks post op VSG I lost 30lbs. I wasnt too enthused either. I was watching people that had surgery after me passing me by and I was going by the book and it seemed so unfair !!!! Slow losing sucks when you are constantly comparing yourself to others and its so hard not to. I can totally relate to you. I just kept plugging away day by day and I did reach my first goal of 180 at the first year mark. My starting weight was 311.2 1st day of liquid diet. I was 296 day of surgery and 180.4 on my 1st year surgery date. Everyday went by so slowly it seemed but I knew this was my last chance and I had to do this. You can do it too !!! One day at a time !!
  14. you can eat anything that you can tolerate and like @catwoman7 said not everyone dumps with bypass.
  15. I had the sleeve in 8/2017. I now have erosive esophagitis Grade D from the acid issues and revised to Bypass 2 months ago. I would say if you already have had acid issues then you dont want that sleeve. You can lose hair with VSG too and you are suppose to take vitamins with both surgeries. I have not lost hair yet but I do dump on sugar and heavy carbs. I have been told that it doesnt mean I will always be a dumper. I can also have a sm amount of sugar after a meal and be just fine. I cant eat dry cereal of any kind or biscuit and gravy in the mornings. We all are different though and technically are not suppose to be eating those things anyways. I am in maintenance and eat what I want as long as my body lets me, lol. Good luck.

    ❤My Revision Story❤

Congrats on being GERD free and being happy . I dont know what the length stuff means but I did ask my surgeon to make it so I would not have as many issues with vitamin deficiencies . ( I am guessing that is what you are referring to) After surgery was completed at some point in the hospital he did let me know that he didnt bypass as much of the small intestines. I guess you have to have a longer limb or something like that? Have you had blood work to confirm everything is okay ? What vitamins do you take? I have a friend who also had less intestines taken and she had issues with her bloodwork the 2nd time she went in.

    Weight gain.....

If you had the 2nd surgery for weight loss then it has everything to do with your question, if in fact it was because of weight gain. At least that is what I am getting out of that response from the other person.
  18. I really need some help and advice on what I can do. I have lumbar stenosis and have to get injections to be able to walk like normal people, otherwise I get stuck and cant move my left leg and have awful pain trying to do so. I also have bad neck that gives me horrible headaches which go on day and night sometimes and need injections for those. I truly cant handle all of this pain. I am so overwhelmed at the moment. I was told today by the bariatric team that if I must have them to space them out and stay on my Dexilant ( I dont know if I will ever be able to get off of it) Now I am scared. She didnt tell me what can happen by doing these injections. Any advice would be greatly appreciated . FYI I was revised to Bypass 2 months ago and had been able to have the injections with the sleeve with no issues.

    Weight gain.....

So true !! I also put on weight. From Feb to May 1st I gained 15 or 16 lbs. Then on May 1st I decided it was enough and went back to eating the way we are taught. About 2 weeks later I got the call that my revision to bypass was scheduled. In 3 weeks I lost 6 lbs and have taken the rest off since the bypass. It is much better to get on the horse with a 10 to 20 lb gain then that 50 lbs like you said.
  23. Have you spoke with your Dr. ? I am also having this on occasion and wonder if I have another hiatal hernia which for me would make since because of the acid issues I still have some mornings. Hugs
