  1. My original goal weight was 180 set by both the surgeon and myself. I made goal my first year and then I set the 170 goal which I have also made and stayed under for the last few months. I have lost approximately 90 + % of my excess weight. I wear a size 10 jeans and med tops and am comfortable where I am, although sometimes part of me says I should get to 155 for the normal BMI. The other part says if I didn't have the extra skin I would be there, sigh.
  2. I am 50 and am in menopause , ugh the hot flashes at night while asleep keep waking me up ! I need to start building muscle, does anyone have any ideas on how I can do this from home? Thanks in advance !

    Constipation

Walking really does help to get things moving as stated above and I use MOM or Miralax when needed. Lots of water will help also.

Dirty dark sleeve secrets :P Confessional

Just giving honest answer to an honest question and I don't promote going against vitamins.😉
  5. Today I am having Breakfast 1 egg scrambled and 2 or 3 slices of bacon Lunch 3 oz stuffed pork chop and asparagus ( last night leftovers ) Dinner teriyaki chicken with rice ( 3 oz chicken, 1/4 cup rice, 3 to 4 pineapple chunks ) If I have a snack it will be Chobani key lime yogurt and/or almonds. If I cant finish a meal ( which happens a lot still ) I go back and finish it later. Totaling everything up with the yogurt I am hitting 841 calories. 72 carbs 29 fat 71 protein . Sure does seem like this should be more than 841 calories and this is why I quit tracking. I would make sure I was getting in 1200 to 1500 calories and my weight would stay 10 to 15 pounds heavier then I am now when I tracked. I quit tracking this past Christmas and I still get my protein, so I happy.

Dirty dark sleeve secrets :P Confessional

You and I are only 2 weeks a part surgery wise. I have skipped my vitamins and it is not as big an issue for us VSG, but we do need them especially early on. I cannot drink with meals because it hurts and sometimes I have to wait more then an hour because of the pressure. I have a prescription from my bariatric team for 800 mg ibuprofen. VSG here are allowed NSAID. Some days on vacation I have not gotten all my protein I have on vacation ate out quite a bit but do try to make the best choices.

    Acid Reflux

I have heard of it, but I have not tried it and to be honest I don't even know what it is. Guess I need to look it up. It says it is for ulcers

    Acid Reflux

I got reflux immediately after surgery. Medication controls it now. I have read as you lose the weight you also may lose the reflux, this has not been my experience thus far, but I have cut my dose in half . Good luck

    Price of meds. $$$$$

Have you tried Walgreens Pharmacy ? I needed a vitamin D prescription and my insurance would not cover it Walgreens have discounts that they can do for you . My script was around 100 bucks and they got it down to around $20 or less.

    What to eat?

In the early days I would go to YouTube and type in what are you eating at 2 months or at 6 months out depending on where I was and get ideas that way. I got some great suggestions back then.
  13. Was thinking the same thing about ms.sss and calorie intakes of 500. I could never do that except in the early days but then I have a higher BMI. So far this morning I have eaten 3 cubes of cantaloupe and 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, wishing I would have eaten the egg and bacon instead because I still feel hungry, guess I will drink water and take a tums just in case it is heartburn in disguise

    Protein bars

The bottom line is we all have to make our own choices. Those of you having your first surgery might want to take a look at stats of those who have had 2 surgeries for whatever reasons. Ask your Drs. about the protein bars and go from there.

    Protein bars

    So true !!

    Protein bars

Its a candy bar and the manufactures put the word protein on it so people think it is good for them. Our bodies can only process so much protein at a time to begin with. ( 8 to 10 grams an hour )

    Spaghetti

Now that I am in maintenance I do have spaghetti on occasion. Spaghetti squash is a great alternative if you are in weight loss phase.

    Protein bars

Power crunch was my favorite but I no longer eat any protein bars as they are a slippery slope for some.

    Am I a sleeve failure?

Depending on your age it could be a factor from a few years ago. Your surgery weight 209 would be considered low with a 36 BMI so you wont lose like a 280 and over with a 50 BMI . 16 pounds in 7 weeks is fantastic and adds up to over 2 lbs a week. The stall will pass and you will start losing again.

    No Interest in Food?

I absolutely agree with you on this ! I just like directness though and some may find this too blatant I guess.
  21. Get rid of the juice. Most juices have lots of added sugars. Eat solid protein at every meal. Good luck !

2 weeks after sleeve need advice

Fairlife milk has 13 grams of protein per serving and if you like peanut butter add some PB fit, its yummy !
  23. With 70 more to go I would think 1000-1200 range. Good luck
  24. I would stay away from protein bars personally . They pack as many calories as a candy bar and can be addictive to some. You know yourself better then anyone though. I was eating on average 800 calories at 6 months out. Breakfast. 1 egg and either turkey sausage or 2 slices of bacon ( I still eat this today ) Lunch. tuna creation pouch and 1/4 cup of cottage cheese Dinner. 1 rib and part of a baked potato with cheddar cheese ect. Snack. Almonds This is just one day I had logged in my 6 months. Most of the time I could not finish a meal and would go back and finish later instead of snacking on other things.
