How long is that stall? Have you also been tracking your measurements? Because you might be losing inches even if it doesn't quite show on the scale. This might be a good time to change your exercises to give your system a little shock.

4 weeks, sigh. I joined a gym late last week (great minds think alike...), so I have that underway now. Its always been extremely hard for me to lose weight -- my RMR must be rock-bottom low.

Do you know where to get RMR tested?

  2. Thanks for the post, Matt. Its really emotionally hard to stop losing weight for 4 weeks. There was a cruise in there where my weight fluctuated up then immediately back down.

I joined a gym late last week, so its still too earlier to gauge how that is helping, but I know it was the right thing to do.

My Water intake...it may have dropped off, so I'll shoot for 128 starting today << that's a LOT, btw, lol, but I think I can do it.

I see my RD in 2 weeks for my 3 month checkup, not sure what her advice will be.

Cibu platinum is by far the best purple Shampoo I’ve ever seen or used (I’m a hairstylist). Be careful with purple shampoos and conditioners though because if you leave them on longer than suggested you end up with lavender.

Thanks for the tip-- going to try this out!!

    So...what you're saying...is that my carb rich 1200 calorie diet...works great:)

LOL, yes! I agree that your carb rich 1200 calorie diet works great at pushing you into ketosis and losing weight!

YOur salad sounds fantastic. You may be surprised to learn that my favorite salad has quinoa, chickpeas and a homemade cashew-based viniagrette dressing. 2 more weeks... I wonder why the exclusion of leafy vegetables until 3 months -- do you know?

Apple....I have a suggestion. Perhaps you could stop being an expert on MY diet...and I assure you I won't pretend to be an expert on yours. Thanks!

Maybe you'd like to talk about your diet instead?

My diet is an open book, Creek. 20-40-40, 800 calories. Lean and nutritionally packed as I can get it in the limited space available in my altered stomach. If there is a god in heaven, I will be cleared for salads when I hit 3 months, because I miss them. If I ate 50-20-30, it wouldn't make a lick of difference -- I'd still go in to ketosis and burn fat.

Wrong. I eat a ton of low fat dairy (carbs), fruit(carbs), whole grains(carbs), lower glycemic breads(carbs), brown rice(carbs), potatoes(carbs), Beans (carbs), nuts and seeds(carbs), etc. I eat a massive amount of carbs. I just don't eat sugar, high glycemic carbs or processed foods. I eat very little animal fat.

On average, a full 50%+ of the calories I eat come from carb based foods.

So... 600 calories worth, right? As I stated?

There's no need for the attitude  I politely disagreed with your assessment of Creekimp's diet as low-carb. That's all. I appreciate your responses on this thread!

You may politely disagree, but the facts are nevertheless the facts. If your carbs are so low that your body goes into ketosis, your diet is defacto low carb -- there isn't much room for disagreement.

150 grams is 600 calories a day and Creekimp eats fewer than 1200 calories. So her carbs are over 50% of her diet which makes her... decidedly not a low-carber. ;)

Um, wrong. CreekImp BURNS 2,400 calories a day (probably more -- that is what I burn a day at about the same weight and height, but she is able to exercise more than me). So, in terms of her caloric energy demand, her carb consumption is definitely on the low end of her energy demand. A typical person in maintenance at our weight/height would likely eat AT LEAST 1,200 calories of carbohydrates. A person eating a "fuque ton" of carbohydrates would likely be in a gaining scenario, or eating a very unhealthy, processed diet. CreekImp eats 600 calories of carbohydrates (probably).

And here I thought my thermodynamics classes were a waste of time, LOL! ;)

  9. I think with our restricted ability to eat a crap-ton of food, we all persist in a state of ketosis. I limited my diet to whole foods, mainly Protein, veges, fruit and dairy. As much as I love bread and Pasta, the nutritional payback (weighed against bulk) is sort of low (IMO). Today my carbs are from lentils, cottage cheese, mangoes, strawberries, and miscellaneous veges. Proportionally, carbs today are 20% of my calories, so I am technically a low carber!! My protein is from lentils cottage cheese, turkey, swiss cheese, and half of a PP -- and I barely cleared my goal of 60 grams. Oh, ETA, I love nuts and seeds, and regularly add them to my diet, but not today, and I feel as though they are best consumed raw as a snack (so I can enjoy them more!!!).

I just got the Fitbit Versa last week, and I love it! I had a Fitbit Flex 2 and gave it to my mother; now we challenge each other. :)

The sleep tracking and heart rate analyses are great. I love that the Versa is waterproof and can't wait to take it in the pool once I am cleared to exercise in the Water again. Very happy with this purchase, and much cheaper than the Apple Watch.

Exactly! I've been using the interval timer to exercise in our pool -- love it!!

  11. The final tally was +6 pounds, 4 of which are already gone. How shocking is that?? I was hoping to break even because calories were higher than normal, but evidently I retained significant water! I really do wonder if cruising is such a great idea for bariatric surgery people like us.

  12. My story is very similar to Matt's -- my husband was reluctantly supportive. Just this week, on vaca and seeing a food number of overweight and uncomfortable people, he actually thanked me for having the guts to get the surgery. He gets niw that this surgery was for my health. It was very sweet and reaffirming, especially because I am only half way to my goal.
