    Follow-up

I'm so sorry, Matt. You've had a very bad month. Stay strong, don't borrow trouble.
  4. Gone, thanks to hiatal hernia repair with sleeve. My acid reflux was mild -- never took anything for it and it was only a problem when I ate stuff pizza. If acid reflux is an issue for you, I'd seriously consider bypass.

What is happening to our ‘likes’? I am losing mine!!

I clicked on your page and you still have 9 followers...
  6. Here's another article on the study: https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/892400. Do you think these percentages include the pre-op loses? From article: "Average Percentage Body Weight Loss Following Bariatric Surgery Time after bariatric surgery ≥ 8% excess weight loss preop < 8% excess weight loss preop P value 3 months, %* 42.3 36.1 < .001 6 months, %* 56.0 47.5 < .001 1 year, %* 65.1 55.7 .003 *Average percentage body weight loss."
  7. Thanks, hope I've said goodbye to the 190s forever! I'm watching the Dr. Weiner video you posted right now -- I love his set point theory, and kind of wishing I did the bypass instead of sleeve.
  8. I think its too soon to tell. My current target is my doctors' target. Once I reach that, I will reconsider. I got my first "you've gone far enough" comment today, at 189 pounds Yeah, right!

    Does the gas go away?

I don't have malodorous gas, but I am more gassy than before surgery and damn if I don't burp after I eat, as others have reported.

    Worst Day Ever!!!

I took Senekot for a few days before surgery, but I did end up taking MoM the week after. And then, when I moved to protein shakes, I went the opposite direction!
  11. Your boss is way out of line. And this is medically necessitated surgery, which is why insurance pays for it. I agree with the others -- proceed with the date your surgeon gives you.
  12. Nice! Especially since I lost 15%, haha.
  13. It was like a scene from The Exorcist tonight.  Pizza was involved.  And hanger, lol.  I stayed strong (somehow) and made my planned Curried Lentil Coconut Soup (soooooo good) and let my guys eat their #@$%& pizza without me.

Strong like a bull indeed! :D And I smell like curry still, LOL. But truthfully, this recipe is fantastic! Makes 6 cups/servings: 180 calories, 23 carbs, 9 fiber, 7 fat, 8 protein, 3 sugar. I did use S&B japanese curry (as recommended) and I used full fat coconut cream. I was carb-lean the rest of the day and made all of my targets! Try it! https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/curried-lentil-tomato-and-coconut-soup

Thanks for the recipe, sounds delicious!

Pizza night is still once a week or more at my house. I've just got to ignore it, although I have snatched the occasional mushroom!

    6 months post VSG

    Wow!!! Nice progress!
  16. 100 pounds is a big forkin' deal!!! Or is it forken? LOL I enjoy your posts, you always seem to find new challenges for me to consider -- like getting my veges and fruit to a pound a day.
  17. I understand -- I live near Hopkins and I also love having a top-notch facility nearby!! Just out of curiosity, @Creekimp13, can I ask what your weight was at surgery? Your 1,200 calories intrigues me, but I am learning that too many carbs KILLS my weight loss. ETA: for me, of course!!

    Anyone NOT lose their hair?

OK :-) So since your labs are coming back low, may I suggest that you switch to Bariatric Advantage or Celebrate vitamins and calcium supplements? Both are designed specifically for bariatric surgery folks.

    Anyone NOT lose their hair?

No, for vitamins and calcium :-)
  20. My reaction to glue was only right around the incisions -- small/tiny blisters.

    Anyone NOT lose their hair?

Out of curiosity, which product line are you using?

Costco: suggestions on what to buy.

Peeled, deveined, uncooked shrimp (frozen); organic chicken breasts (freeze); wild caught salmon (frozen); cod (frozen); fruit (frozen); asian stir-fry vegetable mix (frozen); Roa's spaghetti sauce; premier protein shakes; canadian bacon; organic eggs, and gas for your car. I get fresh fruits, veges and ground beef from local market. Otherwise, its Costco for me.

    New Here VSG in May!

My husband is 6'1" (he says 6'2" haha) and 205# right now and while he loves that I am losing weight, he is also now motivated to get down to <190#. I am staying silent on the subject and simply providing healthy, low carb dinners for us. He's on his own for his remaining meals. I think your approach to not push your wife but stand by whatever her decision is right on he mark.
  24. Over decades, small mistakes and over-indulgences, stressful jobs, medical conditions and medication can take your weight up pretty steadily. It did for me -- starting after my first baby was born 25 years ago. I weighed about 150 when I got pregs, so over 25 years I gained a mere 3# a year on average. Pregnancies, menopause, hypothyroidism, depression -- it all adds up!
