Struggling GAINED 5 lbs this week

^^ this ^^ Hop on the scale when you get out of bed.
  3. Being a wine drinker beforehand, I can understand you worries, but I can guarantee you that you will feel better about it as the weight comes off. I dabbled with wine briefly after surgery and it stalled my weight loss big time.

One year later! Update and Photos

Getting hit with cancer on the heels of this surgery was a blow but I greatly admire your pragmatic, can-do attitude. Hope the dilation helps with food volume and diversity!! I didnt realize that this was so commonly needed. ETA: Nice new boobs, btw! I remember reading (and laughing) when someone described hers after weight loss as tennis balls hanging from tube socks, and now this is becoming me!!

    KETO

I sent it the article to my son (T1 diabetes), but he is mostly vegetarian so not sure how easy this kind of diet would be for him, tho I know it can be done. Fortunately, insulin pumps these days do a lot of self-correcting.

    I AM NOT STALLED!

Way to go, "loser"! I suspect you will be rewarded soon.

    KETO

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/07/well/live/low-carb-diet-type-1-diabetes.html Excellent results for people with Type 1 diabetes.
  8. Have you tried various types of protein shakes? I hated PP before surgery, but it was the only thing I like after surgery. Sorry you are having this problem.
  9. Hey, that protein shot is pretty cool! Is it a volume thing? I didn't get any protein for the first week -- just clear liquids, so you should be OK nutritionally so far.

Struggling GAINED 5 lbs this week

So, what are you eating? Are you logging your food into an app like MyFitnessPal?
  11. Week 8:  Lost 4.2#s this week, 38.8 pounds overall (including what I lost 2 weeks pre-op).  I am feeling optimistic that surgery is working for me!

      Sounds great! Congrats!

Yay!!!! Woot!!!! That's wonderful!!!! Congrats girlie!!!!

  12. I still drink 8 ounces of PP with a cup of coffee, iced, in the morning in order to meet my protein goal. I could technically not do this, but it gives me the flexibility to have cottage cheese, lentils, etc (less dense protein sources) as my protein source for another meal. I am 8 weeks out today.
  13. I didnt have pain at first, but at 10 days I developed sharp pain at the main incision site. It felt like there was an embedded knife, and it hurt when I moved. That pain went away after about a week, as suddenly as it came.

    May 30th Surgery

Nurses always have the most interesting work stories in my experience!

    Non Scale Victories

I crossed my legs! Unintentionally, and it was comfortable! I finished my walk a few days ago, and I realized that my lower back and knee didn't hurt.

    Keto and RNY

My surgeon asked me to, and my PCP also thought it was a good idea. Its been 10 years!! Its been going OK --sometimes I get flushed/anxious, and I'm not entirely sure if its the Paxil or my Synthroid is too high for my current weight, or some combination therein. I absolutely know what you mean with the crazy dreams -- I get those if I miss a dose or two!!!

    Keto and RNY

@Creekimp13 Me, too -- on sleep (from losing weight in general -- no more sleep apnea), blood pressure meds (ditched them at surgery), and almost there on antidepressants (slowing transitioning because I've been taking Paxil -- sigh -- I have to go down 0.5 units every 2 weeks, currently down from 30 to 15, so another month to go).

    Keto and RNY

I use the same macro ration as @FluffyChix (that puritanical little putz ) -- or at least I try get close. Its the same ratio that my RD required for the 2-week pre-op period: 20% carbs, 40% protein, 40% fat. Back then, I ate 1,200 kcals per day, now (weeks 6-12) I eat 600-800 kcals per day. I actually have no idea what happens on week 13 - ! I'll meet with the RD before then, tho.

    moving goal posts LOL

I was thrilled when my weight got lower than my husband's, too, and now I have him by 15#s! Its funny how you feel like a hamster on a treadmill until all of a sudden those 2-3-4#s a week start adding up.

    Longest stall

That is an interesting observation! I don't know if I prolonged my stall by drinking wine, but I cut that our and scale is moving again. What a crazy month!! Hopefully things are more smooth next month.
  22. My surgeon's tight 40 may be the same as your surgeon's lose 32... source: https://www.nationalbariatriclink.org/bariatric-blog/gastric-sleeve-surgery-whats-your-bougie-size/
  23. I didn't have specific pain right after the surgery; it came a week and a half in at the main incision site and lasted for about a week. Hurt like heck when I moved, so I stayed as still as much as possible. Hang in there.
