    Surgery didn’t work?

I am so glad you posted this -- I've been meaning to watch it for weeks, and WOW!!! The surgeon is laying out some really provocative ideas that make perfect sense! My surgeon pushes us into physical therapy both before and after surgery , so I have that covered, But what really grabbed me, and may be why you posted it on this thread -- you gotta get your head straight and your eating straight, top priorities post-surgery. I'll be watching this again, and his other videos. :-)

    Surgery didn’t work?

Amburmist, you are doing great! YOu lost 12 pounds before surgery (pre-surgery liquid diet?) and then another 13 pounds -- that's 25 pounds in 4 weeks! You know about the 3 week stall as your body recovers from surgery, so please relax -- you've got this! :-)

    Surgery didn’t work?

Sorry to hear about your stricture -- yikes, what a unfortunate development! BUT, congratulations on your weight loss! From 265 to 219 -- that's 46 pounds! 75% of excess body weight in a year is the average loss with bariatric surgery. Assuming that is about 86 pounds (you don't list a height, so I assumed a goal weight of 150 pounds), you are more than half way there and its only been 2 months. Good job!

    Surgery didn’t work?

40 pounds in 8 weeks sounds pretty good to me, personally. With a starting weight of 249, assuming you have 100 pounds of excess body weight, and using the average achievement of losing 75% of that in one year with gastric bypass, you are already halfway to your goal. Good job!!
  5. This is hilarious -- good job keeping all of the jeans!
  6. Ugh, that is terrible that they wait until you are most vulnerable to "attack". Perhaps the best way to deal with this now is just to firmly shut the family comments down whenever they bring it up. If they won't let it go, just pack up and leave. If you are firm and consistent, hopefully they'll get the message. If they don't, limit your time with them until after surgery.
  7. Good luck tomorrow! Nice to read a post about the pre-surgery diet that isn't dire, LOL.

Congratulations -- must feel great to be on the other side!!!
  9. I feel the same way -- the approval process sure requires a lot of patience!
  10. Wait -- what does this even mean, LOL. I am so NOT cool, evidently :-)
  11. Good luck! Let us know how it goes (when you feel up to it)

  16. Post away, Big Tex. I hate all of the folders -- I read and post to the "unread" thread and the status updates. I confess that I am starting to look at my clothing catalogs differently. 3-4 months to go for surgery.

    Starbucks Egg bites

I'm Camp Starbucks Egg Bites. Any they are super easy to make at home with Sous Vide equipment. I like whole eggs with cottage cheese, served with cherry tomatoes, pine nuts, basil olive oil.

    Concerns with gaining

I agree with Berry -- say something once then shut up and let her do her own thing. This is my advice to myself dealing with other to others dealing with me. More than once and its nagging. Sorry to be so blunt.

    300 pounds lost

What a great quote! SGC -- remarkable -- congratulations!!
  20. People seem to have strong negative opinions about bariatric surgery, don't they? My PCP recommended this to me -- my initial reaction was pretty negative, too, but then I started researching and changed my mind. Unfortunately, if your husband won't bother to do his own research in order to support you, you are going to be stuck doing it for him. Just out of curiosity -- is he overweight, too? What I am surprised about is your statement that your doctors think you are nuts -- why?? What kinds of doctors are they?

    Iron Deficiency

Anemia is unpleasant, good reminder to watch for it!
  22. Don't keep any questions to yourself, this is what the forum is for!! You didn't strike a nerve with me -- I get that you are just getting things together. Fluffy is exploring the same stuff we all are and asking a legit question -- I thing many women are more inclined to research things to death! :-) All the best,
  23. Great thread for me right now -- I just discovered I have hiatal hernia and this is something I am now mulling. I normally wouldn't say that I have reflux, but after today's discovery, dammit, yes, I do, occasionally, more than I admit (even to myself), and usually in the middle of the night -- TUMS, swallow, swallow, swallow, etc. 1-2 times a week, even. The sleeve seems like a more benign surgery in my head, but it really isn't, is it? On the topic of permanent, nothing is more permanent than getting 80% of your stomach pulled out. Do we need to fight about this with big fonts? Does grehlin really reduce with bypass?

    Tricare Prime First appointment

Yes, this was my experience. Check with your insurance, however, because some plans require referrals from your PCP.
  25. Radiology tests done, onward to cardiologist for pre-surgery stress test.  So far, so good!  :-)
