Did you find out what kind of protein you could use? I just wanted to mention the protein shots from Amazon, they're 42g but I don't know for sure what type of protein they are. I hope you get it figured out and start feeling better soon!

    Feel so weak!

Amazon sells protein shots that have 42g of protein. they are 3.8 ounces and kinda syrupy but they really helped my mom. Her hair had started falling out because of her lack of protein. Also, Premier has a clear protein that's like flavored water. I get mine at Sam's.

On Amazon they have protein shots with 42g of protein in them. They aren't great but it's better than a shot of tequilla, lol! There's also a broth on this store that has 15g of protein and the clear protein drinks ( tastes like flavored water ) from Sam's Club aren't to bad either. Maybe you could substitute one of the shakes. Good luck!

    4 Days till RNY Surgery

I'm in the same boat as you! I'm so stressed out right now! Since I quit cooking for my family ( told them if I can't eat it I ain't cookin it! ) my kitchen is a disaster! But I'm to stressed about my surgery to worry about them. They're just gonna have to learn the hard way I guess. The past 2 weeks has gone by fast hasn't it? I bet we don't sleep very good this weekend, lol! We'll be to busy getting everything in order.

    one week to go!

I'm having Gastric Bypass on Tuesday and I'm a nervous wreck. I'm having it done in Mexico, so the stress of traveling is adding to it. I gave up caffeine 2 weeks before my liquid diet because I was a total Mt. Dew junkie and it was HARD! Glad I did it early! My only problem is that after about 5 days into my pre-op diet I started getting really fatigued just walking to the other end of the house, and also a little light headed when I stand up. I was active before the diet so it's making me a little crazy! I haven't taken a picture yet, I've been hiding from the camera so long it's kinda weird, lol!

    September Bypass Buddies

I'm going to Angeles Tijuana on Monday, surgery on Tuesday. 2 nights in hospital and 2 nights at Hotel Lucerna. Your's sounds nice and relaxing. And you get the bonus of a little mom and son time. Mine are still in school, one in college, one in high school and one in Jr high. So just me and the hubby. But Nana's gonna be busy!

I'm really starting to get nervous now. I leave for Tijuana Monday morning! Time is sure flying by! They need to invent a word for "terrified and excited" because I'm somewhere in between!

    Surgery complete

I've been researching ways to ease the gas pain after surgery. I don't know first hand if these work or not but I figured it was at least worth mentioning. 1. Ambulation: any movement helps so even when you're not walking, rock back and forth or side to side. 2. mylicon 3. pain meds (obviously these don't help that much, lol) 4. warm drinks, see if they will heat up your protein and water 5.a heating pad. 6. increase fluids but that's not very easier after wls, lol. 7. reposition: lay on left side, or on your knees, head down and bottom up (again, another one I'm not sure will be to easy after wls) I hope one of these will help you. Oh, and my sister is a nurse and she said to ask for Benedryl if the nausea medications don't help. Good luck to you!

    Rate of weight loss?

I have to disagree, the amount of weight lost has nothing to do with how much you weigh. Everybody is different. For instance, my mother was 270 before her gastric bypass, at 5'7" her goal weight is 170. So that's 100 pounds. The fact that you are only 5' your suggested goal weight would be 115 to 130. So technically you need to lose the same amount as her. I don't see how that would make you any different than her. She had gastric bypass in March and she has already lost 80". On the other hand, I have friends who have had gastric sleeve that have lost as much weight and at the same rate. Whatever surgery you choose, it's gonna be hard, but there's no way of knowing how much or how fast you will lose weight. That all depends on how much effort you put in, but you could be just as successful as anyone else. Most people do lose the majority of their weight the first year, but honestly you would have less saggy skin if you did only lose 10 pounds a month. So it's a win either way, lol!

I'm having the same problem! Don't sleep very good and I'm completely emotional! And, every time my husband and kids cook something, the smell makes it feel like my big guts are eating my little guts! Lol!

So, the BariatricPal 15g protein fruit concentrate (grape) tastes kinda like watered down grape kool aid but it's really not to bad at all. I had the protein soup (chicken) for dinner and it was actually pretty good and it has 15g of protein so win/win!

If you go to the bariatric pal store there's lots of options for getting your protein in. I just ordered some protein broth, vanilla cappuccino, a couple of the fruit drinks and 4 protein shots, I'll let you know how they taste in a few days. As for the protein shakes I have to second Ceallaigh on the premier protein shakes.
  20. I'm having my surgery in Mexico so I've had to basically research post-op diet like you and I've found that You Tube has a plethora of information. Ton's of ideas and recipes!
  21. I'm heading to Tijuana to see Dr. Lopez-Corvala on Sept. 12th. Sooooo close!!
