carla817 got a reaction from greenreader in Maybe tmi...changes in monthly cycle?
Great question. I got my surgery on July 24- prior I would generally get my period every few months as a probable side effect of being overweight and in my late 30s- but post surgery it has come every 28-30 days on the dot. I was also told surgery increases fertility and my regularity seems to point towards this being the case for me

@proudgrammy your insurance might cover them as well- take a look here- you just need a prescription from your doctor for the nasal spray b12

They sent me chewables by mistake and They can't take them back. Completely sealed bottles. My insurance covers them so I only pay $20 a month for all 3 - I just want to recoup my co pays.
Multivitamin, Iron and Calcium. They are not bad tasting compared to other ones I've tried, I just don't need chewable anymore.

carla817 got a reaction from ClareBear1 in How can spouse help?
My husband has been so helpful as well- we talked about what I can and can't eat so he has been able to pick things up for me but also (nicely) call me out if I'm tempted to cheat [emoji4] the biggest help for me though is that he is pretty much eating what I am - I would never have asked him for this - but it is nice to not have too much in the house I can't eat or is bad for me. He is a great cook and has been testing bariatric recipes and enjoying them! I don't think he meant to give up carbs totally but since we haven't been buying them he has just adjusted. At least while he's at home. So I really think that support has helped a lot. We always cooked and had dinner together and I was afraid I would lose that time together each night.

Thanks for starting this thread. That's exactly what I'm working on right now.
I gave up Diet Coke (for the third and final time) four weeks ago and my taste for sweets totally changed - and I'm okay with that!
Love the idea of having vintage tea plates! I bought silicone toddler plates! LOL It's making me laugh now - I'm going on a hunt for fancy plates! And it will keep me busy if I go to a few stores.
I'm making myself a list of things to do to stay busy as I prepare to start the liquid diet on Tuesday:
Take extra yoga classes Start a much delayed sewing project Sort through old photos in boxes Read the books that have been piling up unread Learn how to take better care of my orchid and re-pot a few succulents (condo living - no garden) Continue working on my vision board Declutter my closets Practice meditating Write in my journal Get a head start on my Christmas list (I have 9 nieces and nephews!) with all the money I'm saving from not eating out :-) Do some travel planning for the holidays (keep searching for the ticket on miles!) Get a massage Enjoy the Big Brother live feeds (Ha!) Re-read my therapist's favorite book - Intuitive Eating by Evelyn Tribole Buy fancy tea cups and plates! I also got some popsicle molds and froze some Protein Shakes. It's okay, in a pinch!
It's also important to remember that we will eat good food again! Life is long and this period of adjustment will be over in a blink of an eye!
Good luck to us all!

As I'm doing the last minute house cleaning before my surgery tomorrow, I'm also thinking about how to continue my mental and emotional prep and support.
Mentally, I know I won't be eating the same, even the same foods. After two weeks of Protein Drinks, I can't imagine ever wanting sweets again! But, to limit temptation, I 've set up my own cupboard in the kitchen. Everything I need is/will be in there. Even bought pretty vintage tea plates to eat on. ($4-10 at antique stores). I like to make "inspiration boards" to have in my bedroom and office. Going to work on these this evening, adding pictures of all the things I want to do with this "new" body.
Emotionally, I've added lots of downtime and quiet time to my schedule in the past few weeks. Want to keep that up! Spending time in my garden and doing my art is also a big help.
What are all of you doing/thinking about?

Hey my July peeps!
I had my 2 week post op visit today. I was sleeved on July 21. My starting weight in Jan was 274, surgery weight 263 and today,,,,,,,,,, (drum roll) 253!!!!! Its 10 lbs in 10 days, yeah i will take that. Gosh i cant stop smiling!! 21lbs gone. Thank you Jesus.
Woo woo i am so excited!!!! I have no problems eating or drinking Water and Protein requirements are at 30 for this week. My Doc goes slowly upward to a total only of 45. I have been drinking at least 60oz of water a day. I was always a water drinker only. I feel good except for pain that I am having because I had a lot of scar tissue due to my previous surgeries. He even had to do 6 insicions instead of three. But i am walking and all my incisions are healed. I will be in my pool tomorrow starting slow. I have lymphedema in my legs and the pool helps with the swelling.
Another wonderful thing is that i am off all diabetic meds !!!!!!!!! Oh yeah!! Can you tell i am busting???? (Seinfeld: George: I am busting Jerry, busting!!!!)
God Bless my woderful surgeon and his team.
It does feel as great as everyone says. Hang in there July peeps.....we gonna do great!!!!!
