  1. icky! Drug reactions can be nasty at times. I vomited all over the place with the first shot of morphine in the ER for my gall bladder. It killed the terrible pain but I got so dizzy and sweaty and up it all came. Lightweight ! Surgery is Tuesday and my son can pick me up but he has to work the next day. He and his brother will be back on Thursday/Friday so it looks like Im on my own for a day or so....
  2. My doc wanted me to lose 10 pounds and I followed Bariatric Fusion's Liver Reduction Diet. I printed out their pdf and hung several of them all over my house! Its 3-4 protein shakes (their Orange and Chocolate are tolerable- we have to remember it's a protein shake and not a meal! I made them with ice and non-fat milk = kinda milkshake-y ) and SF jello, SF pops (tropical flavor!!) and homemade broth, V8 and low sugar cranberry juice. I lost 13.5 pounds! I had a few cheat days with roasted chicken breast and steamed veggies but overall I got used to it. I whined a bunch, work was sometimes frustrating and the cravings got insane at times but I kept my eye on the prize and I did get used to it. I went in a few weeks later and he was very pleased with the loss. I got submitted, approved and scheduled within three days! You've come so far at this point. stay focused on what you want: slimmer happier healthier lighter (insert adjective here) and two weeks will fly by! Good luck to you!!

    Your favorite clear meal recipe?

Thanks Jess- actually I meant recipes for broth mostly- I seemed to tolerate that really well when I had my gall bladder out (although I hear peoples tastes change after the surgery so who knows....)
  4. I picked a weight where I was last TRULY comfortable in my own skin. And looking back over the years, as the weight crept up, I was not happy at any weight over 140. I'm 5' 4" and was always muscular so my goal is get to wherever I get after six-nine months, see where my weight lands and start training to get solid again. Gads I hate the flab and....a new word I've learned...my panni [emoji53]
  5. I'm prepping things at home and scanning the web for best broth recipes!!! Stocking up all thing Phase One LOL
  6. Someone came up with a clothing exchange for our local monthly WLS support group. It's been a great help to a lot of people!!! We bring in what we don't want and take home what fits win-win
  7. Congrats, it'll be an amazing day for both of us are you feeling nervous? I've been prepping for what seems like forever (geez it's only been six months!) but the approval came so fast and the date is in less than a month. I guess I'm a little apprehensive...

    What blender do you recommend

I have always loved my Vitamix, so amazing for all sorts of foods, looking forward to using it for the puréed stage. I got mine from QVC or HSN, one of them! They have five "flex pay" options so you can spread out payments for the high dollar items. You get it right away, it's not layaway!!
  16. That's so awesome for you!! Great job! my paperwork got submitted today so hopefully I'll have a surgery date soon!
  17. Hello, my name is Terri and today is a good day. The only persons I have told about my surgery is my two grown sons and to my surprise they are being very supportive- but that's the end of it. They're gone, they're grown with their own lives and they dont want to hear what Mom's going through on a daily basis lol. And that is A-OK with me...I haven't told any of my girlfriends and that's what hurts, I'm guessing the level of trust and faith that they wouldn't judge me isn't quite there. Chalk it up to another life learning experience. I'm happy I found this new Forum Topic, I could sure use a mentor right about now I was told by my doctor to lose 10-15 pre surgery pounds and after a very rough start with a Keto plan I said screw it and opted for the Liver Reduction Plan- I have been living on Bariatric Fusion shakes and homemade broth, SF Popsicles and SF jello, V8 and Diet Cranberry juice for the past 20 days. After about three days my body got used to the transition and I was no longer hungry, have been sleeping very well on my new CPAP machine and the days flew by. Went in to see my surgeon and lost 13 pounds. I haven't felt this great in a very long time!! Physically and emotionally. All of the paperwork is in and they will be seeking approval. Now I am faced with this thing that I've educated myself on, mentally plowed on through endless needle pricks, weigh ins and signatures. This thing that I want so bad is finally here and I feel all alone and scared shitless. Yikes.....
  18. Santa Rosa, CA (about an hour North of The Golden Gate Bridge) Hi Malin- Im new to this site! Our stats are very similar...Im pre-op, documents are in, hopefully will have a date soon!! You're an inspiration, keep it up girl

Need a mentor and a friend...

Hi Tracy- Thank you for your response! WOW, congratulations on your weight loss! You and everyone are such inspirations I kick myself for having my own little pity party over here but reading through the struggles you've all gone through is such a huge help. Im not even really nervous of any one thing in particular, at least not yet (!) I have last last week completed all of my pre-op requirements and will be submitted for approval on Monday, it hasnt really hit me that this is going to be my reality very soon! ...my life is going to change in a huge way...Im so happy that my knees wont hurt lol
  20. Hello!! I am on the last of my pre-qual visits and then the doc will submit for approval so I'm looking towards the end of September, hopefully. Would love to chat with local people! Let's help each other through this!! Best to All, Terri

Anyone in the North Bay/Sonoma County?

How are you doing R4C? My son just told me he starts his teaching credential program on August 14th and I thought of this post of yours...almost there girl! Not sure where you are in the North Bay- I am in Santa Rosa. Hopefully you have lots of support to get you through this and if not, I'm here and we can help each other- gonna be a crazy ride!
  23. Hello, Newbie Terri here. Saw my surgeon Wednesday, almost there! He wants me to lose 10-15 pounds pre-surgery. I then saw his nutritionist yesterday and she gave me a Keto food plan to assist in this weight loss. I dont have a surgery date so this isnt a pre-surgery plan...there's too many non-clear liquidy things on the list...LOL I've had some success on the Atkins plan but this looks a little different since I am allowed coffee, nuts, seeds, protein shakes and 1 serving of fruit a day. Does anyone have any good keto recipes or direct me to a good bariatric keto blog? I don't know what I don't know so please help me thank you
  24. Im just trying to soak in all of the good, positive wisdom on this site. There are a few posts that Ive got caught up in reading that has the typical Downer Debbie's but that usually gets shut down pretty quickly! Lots of really helpful 'losers' here I love that they're sharing lessons learned so I can be a little calmer when surgery day is finally here.
  25. Thank you for the suggestion and link...yesterday was my first day on this site and its wonderful, so much useful information but I did get a tad overwhelmed!!
