Me!!! I have 5 more months of supervised classes, which seems a little ridiculous. I hear that some insurance plans are moving away from this requirement, but not mine, and least, not yet.

I've lost 100+ pounds with my sleeve, reached my goal weight, and have been maintaining the weight loss for the past year. The sleeve is a great tool to get you where you need to be, and to help you stay where you need to be.

Thank you for your input, and I'll keep your family in my thoughts during the tragic conditions with flooding. I found safe alternatives, I think it's more about creating new patterns/habits over time as well. What usually worked, challenged me. Thanks again for taking the time to answer.

Dang, right now with the hurricane and flooding, and being cooped inside--worrying about if we will flood, it's been very hard not to revert to old habits of eating salty, crunchy, high reward foods! I compromised. I made some homemade queso, but served it with pork rinds and veggie dippers instead of tortilla chips. I also made sure to weigh and measure on a scale and to log it. I was able to keep within 100cals of my daily goals through planning and still adhering to some of my food rules. (I did gain a couple of pounds of fluid from the pork skins saltiness, but those are gone and took away 2 more pounds with it! Woot!)
What I learned through this is that plans and rules exist for a reason. I felt TERRIBLE for "cheating" and eating off plan and getting off my schedule...like I'd really reverted to old unsuccessful habits! And I realized that for me to be happy, I really have to work my plan regardless of stress levels. Things that are helping me get back to my good eating plan (I did this yesterday and am on track today too):
    1. Don't keep snacky/trigger foods in the house. IF I have to go out to get them, I probably won't.
    2. Don't deviate from my current plan of eating/meal schedules/diet composition just because there is a crisis/emergency.
    3. Use CBT (cognitive behavior therapy) to process the emotions/feelings of the stress rather than medicating with old, unsuccessful habits!

    Great question hon!!!

No, I am really not that strong.... lol.... The chainsaw does all the work. I can't lift even half what you do.
Glad the weather is cooler for you all. I hope the ETA on your power holds.

I'm a pretty strong woman but I don't think I'd wanna handle a chainsaw! lol. You're way stronger than me with that @Apple1 lol
no power till wed evening about 10pm, that's the eta. Hopefully it'll be sooner but with the weather cooled off, it feels great with all the windows open. I slept real good last night too.
Its very sad seeing the devastation in houston and other areas as well. I've said it a few times already, I'm so ready for all of this to be over.

So glad that tree is down, and not on your house!!!
I am pretty good with a chain saw. I cut down trees every week in the summer for my research, but I do it in a forest where I don't have to worry about hitting anything but other trees.
That looked like it was a tricky fell. You are right, our men need us to be the brains of the operation sometimes...
Did you get your power back yet? I hope you have or will soon.
It is so sad seeing the huge amount of flooding in Houston.

All is well. Haven't fallen off my "diet" in any sense, cause I don't feel like I'm on one. Lol. Anywho... @FluffyChix, those two pounds is nowhere near a two pound gain of fat, just stress and most likely salt from the queso and rinds! Yum to the queso....my favorite. Glad you're back on your track!
Well, my tree is down. We had a couple of nice fellows from church come by and help take it down. Bittersweet...sweet that it won't fall on my house now, bitter that I don't have the beautiful shade there anymore. First pic shows the leaning tree towards our tiny little house and second pic, the guys getting it down. Funny thing is...until I ventured outside to give them suggestions they weren't coming up with how to get the tallest part of the tree down, (like get a rope and pull one way while the guy who uses the chainsaw goes at it, etc....then a little later, "hey guys, why don't y'all weaken that limb right there so the tree can fall the other way?" Hahaha!!!! Men...they can complain, but they can't live without us!!! I consider my husband very smart, but I just don't know....when it comes to tree cutting. 😂
Still praying for our Texas neighbors here, can't wait for all this to be over!

@Apple1 Thank you! And you are so right! Eating is still one of the things I can control. So I woke up this morning with a renewed dedication to continue walking my 900calorie low carb walk. (And honestly, my cals yesterday were still only 1000, but the point is they were not my "lean" cals that feature lots of leafy greens and colorful veggies and lean protein. And I was 100cals over my budget and ate things that just make me want to eat more things.
So today I'm back on track and am about to go make my egg white HFBlack Forest Ham, spinach, rbp and onion scramble, then will have a green smoothie for lunch and grilled chickie boob and broccoli for dinner. And simple as that, I will be back on track. I don't want to backslide all my hard won losses! ((hugs))

FluffyChix I totally understand how you are feeling. This is out of your control, but put down the chip.. ok? I'm Trying to lighten the mood a little. Munch on some carrots instead.
I can't imagine what you all in the danger zones are dealing with. Anxiety on steroids I am sure.
Whatever happens stay safe. I really hope the government steps up for Texas and helps everyone effected by this storm.

@Newme17 Ugh. Hope you're able to stay cool and hydrated. Sip. Sip. Sip!!! I just got off the phone with my brother in Austin and he's so concerned for us. I honestly am gonna have to "pull a Scarlett," and worry about it tomorrow. I don't know what is coming in our near future. But dayum, does it make me want to eat a bowl full of chips/queso/salsa and have a couple of tequilas! As it is, I have eaten 2 bowls of queso with pork rinds and I'm up 2lbs today. So much for having a handle on emotional eating. Right? I'm very disturbed at my choices.

I saw the photo as well. It broke my heart seeing it. I heard other stories too and it's devastating and awful. I do hope, politically, this will unite many and put past their differences.
Update: No power for me until Wed evening. Thankfully it's cooler weather right now. We can always go to my mom's when they get back (hopefully tomorrow). I'll need to charge up my phone and computer soon as well. Just have to keep telling myself, "If the people of history can live with no a/c and lights, then why can't I???"

((HUGS!!!)) So glad you were able to get home. OMG, the devastation to all of you down south on the Coast! We're still bracing for it, but any way you cut it, it won't be as strong as your Cat4! The flooding here is very devastating (as I'm sure you know first hand from what you are going through)! Saying prayers for all!

Finally going home. Still don't have power but we're hopeful it'll be turned on soon. If not, there are family members in town that now have power that we can stay with. We're anxious to get home and assess what hopefully little bit damage (that tree!!!), if any. Currently driving 20 mph on the highway, guess everyone is ready to go home to Corpus and surrounding areas. My heart goes out to our neighbors in Rockport and Aransas Pass. And now for sure Houston! Prayers for all of them.

Gosh saying prayers the roots hold until you can get home and address it!! So glad you're safe. The reports of the Coast look so gruesome and sad. I too think the worst is yet to come, it appears that it is just sitting and spinning/dumping water. Such destruction! Here's hoping you and your family/friends come through this with only minor inconvenience. What a miracle after another Cat4 storm like Carla!
I'm in North Houston, so we are very safe here. Lots of tornado warnings and only light rain.
