Things just cleared out this morning. I feel so much better. It must have been the meds they gave me in the hospital. Thanks all

Thanks for the update @Sosewsue61! Glad to hear all is going well so far after surgery for you!!! So I know you're just like my mom and have multiple sewing machines - which one are you going to play with the most during your recovery time?

I made it!!! I have been in my private room since 10:46 am. I have walked twice, longer the second time. Pain tolerable w meds - 1000mg tylenol in IV, an anti-inflammatory, two little boost of dilaudid. Sat in chair for a couple hours, short nap. Will have swallow test tomorrow morning, then try sipping.
I have a nausea patch - scopolamine and it works for me, a little drowsy from it but I'll take that over the nausea.

My doctor gave me a rx for Emend (which was 110.00 without insurance or 60.00 for one pill on Cigna). So, my insurance told me I could get the generic APREPITANT- ( for 10.00 and it worked great. The trouble wasn't paying for it, it was finding it. I tried 3 pharmacies before locating it. So I highly recommend asking your weight surgeon for the rx far enough in advance that the pharmacy can order it in time for your surgery since it is obviously not something they keep on hand. I had zero nausea after surgery.

FluffyChix reacted to Berry78 in 56lbs down and seen my doc and he asked me to try to decrease my Omeprozal as he said
Nope, you need the meds. You aren't even 2 months out, and you'll likely need it for 6 months. (Hopefully you'll be able to decrease or cut it out after that point). Just go back on your med until you can find out if there would be benefit to taking less PPI and adding an H2 blocker. (or something like that).

Don't throw in the towel yet, you have come WAY too far to try and turn around now. I see you have lost 56 pounds, that is a great feat, and I know that you're body is feeling better and deep down it feels absolutely AMAZING to fit in clothes that you never thought that you would be able to fit in again! I would go and talk to you're surgeon and ask him if he can reduce the dose of the omeprazole. Tell him how you are feeling and what your PCP said to you and the two of them can come to and educated decision as to the dose that you should maintain. This is a easy fix so please don't go back now! We both have more pounds to loose and quite more life to live at a much reduced weight!

Thank you everyone. I used to put everything aside for my significant others and now I have not patience for it. I have been living in a shell of myself and as I slowly break out of it, I want more independence and I want to spend more time with myself. I want to buy nicer things. I now have pride in myself more than ever and I cannot bottle that up for anyone.

Good for you darlin'. I remember that relief, flooding relief when I asked my alcoholic husband of 18 years to leave because I had filed for divorce and assistance....I could wake-up and know exactly how the adult in the house was going to behave - because it was me!
Great attitude. Keep up the good fight.

So glad you liked your guy and that it went well! I really enjoyed the guy I went to and talked to him about helping me in the future. He was very onboard with it. I used the computer to take all the tests. Yay!!

Passed my psych eval! SO MUCH PAPERWORK!!!! My wrist literally ached -- paperwork alone took over an hour. I forgot how nice it is to just talk to a good psychologist, ahhh. He's gonna be my go-to resource if things go off the rails for me after.

You did it before and can do it now. Try to remember how you handled this in the past. I write intermittently in a journal and can look back to see what was going on that made me make bad choices. Honestly I had anxiety over something that didn't even deserve my attention - and then think - 'you fool it all worked out in spite of the drama and it got you nothing.' A lot of the time it was other people's problems and not even my own. It's hard to give ourselves the attention we need and deserve but we HAVE to do it. No one else is going to do it for us.

@FluffyChix I never had a high BP. However, because I measure everything I eat, I tend to keep the intake low because I retain water easily. Most people are able to keep their BP low afterwards with a balanced diet.
