  1. Oh! That makes sense then!!
  2. That doesn’t compute: 25g fat x 9=225 65g pro x 4=260 25g carbs x 4=100 That’s only 585 on your low days. That seems really low for a guy at your stage?

How do I edit a post?

I thought it was 1 hour? Dunno... In the lower left corner within the time limit you can click the edit button to edit. Anything beyond that requires the help of Dr. Bombay, I mean Ken our tech guru.
  4. I'm so happy for you, I could just spit! You are ROCKIN' this girl! Keep it going!! Good luck tomorrow!
  5. Your fat requirements are going to be very different than mine as an RNY. I'd really want your RD or doc to tell me what ratios they want for their DS patients. I know that your protein reqs are also way diff than mine. For mine and most VSGs the loose rule of thumb for protein is 1g protein per every 10 calories. So if you have ideally a recipe with 160cals, it needs to have a minimum of 16 g protein to be a good protein bargain for the buck. Then beyond that the only rule they gave is no more than 5g sugar per serving/meal. Any other rule was individual from them and based on status and how we were doing with our diet, diet satisfaction, and if we were losing and/or maintaining and progressing well. I had to be very low fat and low carb/low cal to lose. So I'm a big outlier.

She's 2 years out from surgery hon. So she still has very lovely restriction which is awesome and I'm totally jealous. LOL.

    Sleeve to RYN No restriction

Many different opinions on this. The bottom line from my doc is that you CAN stretch your tool in some way. You can also get used to perpetually eating larger portions. And I find the more I eat, the more I want. We can all learn to outsmart our tool. So it's better to just NOT choose to do it. Right? It's doubtful at this early stage you would stretch it out, but you can pop suture lines and staple lines and put stress on your tool. So the answer is...follow your rules. Do NOT wing it. Measure and weigh all the things. LOL. Volume is king!

    Sleeve to RYN No restriction

This a million times! It can take as long as 2-4months to feel that restriction and have your tummy talkin' to your brain. That's why it's vital to ONLY eat the amount prescribed for your stage and don't allow "second helpings." Don't chase the full feeling. If you feel it, great, but if not, stop at your lower limit. If they give you a range of 1/8-1/4cup. Opt to do the 1/8cup. And try to stretch your eating window to 2hours in the early days rather than 1hour. That would be my advice. I had the same issue with my RNY.

    Help im lost. Stage 3

It sounds like you're doing everything right! Sometimes it just takes time! ((hugs)) The head part is the toughest thing to nail. And it's an evolution really. And the early days, should be a chore. Negative conditioning/feedback makes learning new habits with food easier. Because of how fats made me so sick in the beginning, I now preferentially crave light crisp, fresh foods like salads and lettuce wraps and al dente steamed veggies over dense, heavy, calorie dense foods. But it wasn't easy in the beginning. I absolutely scheduled my meals and still do! Although now, food is very pleasant again. Embrace this time!

Do you only spray a non-stick skillet with olive oil spray? Or do you use lots of butter or oil in them? How hard do you cook them?

Ok, so you still have big restriction and only eat small amounts? I also thought you were saying you could eat and finish that bowl of salad?

    Help im lost. Stage 3

Have you tried stirring in a spoon of Greek yogurt (plain) into your soft scrambled eggs at the end? Mix them up so they are wet and creamy!!! Also, try using a ratio of 1 whole egg + 46g egg whites. It lightens them up. I think for some it might be the fat in the yolks.
  13. Well, I'm an RNY, but my post surgery poop smell is for real worse. But I use Poo Pourri and I don't fart in public or private with Mr. F. so sex life isn't an issue. I also seem to be able to not fart when I don't think it's appropriate. Dunno about others. I would not let that stop me from having surgery. There will ALWAYS be a reason to rationalize not changing your unhealthy relationship (whatever it is) and staying mired in sickness.
  14. Not mine! Mine smells like lavender and lemongrass poo!
  15. Sorry you're struggling. I'm a bypass so can't speak to the band part. But the only thing I do know is the doc is the only one who can answer if your tool is intact. He would have to do imaging and tests to know for sure. But the thing that jumps out at me is that you are trying to use this tool for weight loss, but you are eating bread and pasta? During weight loss mode (WLM), I was very strict with protein first and veggies and hardly no fruit. And only a tiny bit of healthy fats. Did you receive any nutrition counseling? I'd ask for a referral to a nutritionist and also a bariatric counselor as well. It's important to work on the head as much as on the diet and exercise.

    Food Before and After Photos

Ok, ty for sharing! So how long does it usually take for the full feeling to go away? I honestly think it's time for me to work on bite timing again. I can see myself slipping back into bad habits of eating too large a bite, chewing too little, eating too quickly. And it may be time to start sitting at the table again rather than at my desk. I'm still serving myself the same portion sizes I'm used to, so I don't have the option of eating more. And this is the same amount I've been having since 1 year out. But some days I do notice I have more resistance. Like that salad wrap was the same size as would be in my salad bowl. The wrap makes 2 meals btw...but for some reason, I'm VERY full from it and have some chest pressure. But no nausea, thankfully! Does it matter if you eat your meat first or veggies/salad first? How much volume do you think it was? Hard to tell if that's a Jethro size bowl or a small side salad bowl.

    Vitamin issues after DS

I have those with RNY. I don't think it's limited to just DS although I've heard this before. LOL. Poo Pourri...google it.

Wow! That's an amazing difference! So in 20 minutes, were you full? Do you chew a ton? Tell me your ways! (I honestly could have finished your bowl in 20 minutes...just sayin')

I made it. It's a leftover from a shoot this morning. It has ridiculous numbers. 115cals; 8g protein; 6g fat; 9g carbs; 2g fiber; 7g net carbs; 2g natural occ sugars. I'm Lovely full! I channeled my inner @ms.sss

Confused about calories in Stage 4

Haha. Actually for me personally, exciting high reward foods would be the faster carb choices in your day of eating that have lower protein: refried beans and cheese and the hot cereal. I'd be hungry in 30 minutes, even at your phase, cuz it hits my blood stream very quickly and causes an insulin spike and rise in blood sugar, then a crash 30 minutes to 2 hours later. I did better keeping it to super boring, high protein choices that kept my insulin and blood sugar as flat as possible.

Confused about calories in Stage 4

I'm sorry you struggle. Just out of curiosity, have you had pre-albumin levels drawn, albumin levels? How do you know you suffer malnutrition? OP: Like @catwoman7, I was around 500 cals at that phase. I would honestly focus on protein rather than the more carby things. And btw, embrace boring. You had WLS for a reason. I'm assuming it is to help you lose weight? Perhaps to help you have a chance to change the relationships with food that qualified you to have this type of extreme surgical intervention for obesity??? Most of us did...
