I was prepared to have a long wait, and I have anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield as well. I found out within 48 hours that I was approved. My doctors office was on top of everything and let me know as soon as they found out I was approved. I was approved three days before my scheduled surgery, because they scheduled me very soon after my final nutrition appointment. So once I had everything all set, they submitted everything

That is very good to hear! My doctor already told the admin to have everything ready to submit after my last visit. My last visit is going to be December 5th. So that only gives me 16 business days before the end of the year to get approved and surgery 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤷🏼‍♀️ Having my fingers crossed the whole time!

It is variable depending upon insurance company. Mine was for six months, implicitly every month but not specified as such, Between my schedule and my doc's we only had about four meetings during that six months and that was fine. Other companies, as others have noted, are a lot fussier and must be no more than a month apart (they're looking for an excuse to deny you!)

Check with the exact wording of their policy bulletin, which should be available on their website, or have the surgeon's insurance coordinator interpret it for you.

    Good luck!

Thank you for that information, I need everything to go as smooth as possible 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I hope so my 6 month diet will end in the second week of dec. and they want to get me in before the end of the month so I don’t have to pay so much. I’ll pay $800 this year compared to $5k next year!

Wow! Booked up til 2020 in July? That’s crazy your surgeon is a busy guy! Good luck!!! We are UHS not BCBS but our approval took right at a week.

He isn’t booked until then! Didn’t mean it to sound like that! He wants to get me into sugary before year end so I don’t have to pay that much!! So hopefully they give approval quick!

I have Anthem BCBS too. Your doc is right. They have a quick turnaround. However, my doctor's office did not send the referral to Anthem the day I finished my 6 months requirement. My doctor's office probably took 10 days to complete the paperwork on their end and forward to Anthem. Hope this helps. And hood good luck!! Hoping it all falls onto place for you.

Thank you so much for that!! They want to get me in and they have already told the administration person to have everything ready to submit the day I complete! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 If they approve quick I only have 14 days remaining after I complete to get approval and a scheduled surgery!! 😳😳

  6. Hello All,

I work at Wells Fargo and have Anthem BCBS with them. I am in process to complete my 6 month diet requirement for surgery in the middle of December! My doctor said if they get my approval back within 5 business days they can get me in before year end. This makes a big difference in paying $1k then to $5k in January.

Anyone who works with Wells with this insurance, I just want to know approval timeframe?

  7. Oh okay, so they did waive it for the medical reason? Did it state in the medical policy as a requirement. Did you get first letter approval or did you have to appeal it? and if you appealed it did you submit a letter of appeal or your doctor?

Just trying to get as much information as I can to get it done as quickly as possible. My deductible has been meet for this year as well so I wouldn't have to pay anything else out of pocket.

  8. Hey same thing, thing they called it both. OMG that is horrible my heart goes out to you as well. The pain is unimaginable and only people with it can understand the struggle of daily life. I am so happy for you. Did they say surgery would most likely cure this for you? I am so scared of having a shunt put in. I would think my insurance would rather do weight loss surgery than brain surgeries. My co worker has this condition and they didn't know that weight caused it when she was diagnosed. She has had 6 surgeries since she found out.

  9. Geri Marie Ill have to take a look at that app? is that for iphone? If he is still not with you when the time comes I am sure he will once you get it and he will realize that he should have been with you all along. Just do it for you because you know what's best. I'll be here to support you!!! I know it's hard to not have him fully supporting you on it but he loves you he will come around.

  10. What a prune LOL, Thank you so much she is getting big to quickly. I have another little girls she just turned 7 in July.

I love memes!!! I know exactly what you're talking about people just baffle me in how they treat others but get so made if you treat them how they treat you. So I just do what I please. I also love that I can talk freely here. Feels amazing.

I don't understand why people cant keep their mouths shut and just be happy for someone that they can live longer and enjoy them selves instead of putting them down and making them feel worse about themselves. <_<

Trust me it sucks I just had a little on in February and I thought my knees would give out. She's my little miracle though <3

  12. I need to look that up now. I am willing to do anything at this point to save my vision. I need to see my babies grow up. I haven't been able to eat very much over the past 5 days and lost a little over 8 pounds. I was at the Emergency department all afternoon yesterday my vision went out in my left eye and I couldn't feel my neck. I hope you daughter is okay I wish nothing but the best for. I am so sorry that she is going through. I this pain on no one.

  13. That's very interesting. I read a lot about the band and the sleeve. I was very confused about the two until I went to the seminar and the surgeon said the same thing as you just said Geri Marie. So I am going to go with the sleeve the other surgeries scare me so bad. The sooner they get everything fixed for you the better. Sometimes I don't think people understand how hard it is to lose weight. Some people it is easy but people just don't try to understand.

I am glad I found a site like this to discuss things with people who actually understand and are there with you. Yeah and I don't think none of us are Newbies to this, it's a long struggle.

  14. I guess so good luck!!!

No because that was first available for the psychologist. All the appointments were the first available and I had called to schedule at the end of June.

I definitely will, hopefully my insurance can see they urgency because as long as I keep the weight on the closer I am to blindness meaning they will have to pay for more medical costs. So seems like a win win for them. I just don't want to go blind and can't see very good for short periods during the day so its getting progressively worse.
