  1. GOOD LUCK, I hope everything works out for you. I am so ready to start this journey as well.
  2. I guess so good luck!!! No because that was first available for the psychologist. All the appointments were the first available and I had called to schedule at the end of June. I definitely will, hopefully my insurance can see they urgency because as long as I keep the weight on the closer I am to blindness meaning they will have to pay for more medical costs. So seems like a win win for them. I just don't want to go blind and can't see very good for short periods during the day so its getting progressively worse.
  3. OMG! Congrats that is so awesome I am happy for you! I would schedule those appointments as soon as possible sometimes they schedule them months out. they scheduled my psychology appointment 2 months out. Hopefully they don't do that for you! SO EXCITING!!!! Keep me updated.
  4. Yeah I would just to be sure but that sounds awesome if they don't. Someone told me that the first time I called and then the second time the lady argued with me and then sent me their medical policy. What type of insurance do you have? I have Anthem BCBS of GA

AWE thank you so much. Handfuls come out everyday makes me so sad lol.

I appreciate the compliment though makes me feel good. :D

      You're too sweet.

  6. Yeah three months sounds quick. Might be the case for me thought. I did the seminar. I meet with the surgeon next Monday, and then 8/14 I meet with the nutritionist and on 9-6 I meet with the psychologist. That would be my last required appointment for surgery however, my insurance requires a 6 month supervised diet. But recently I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension which is causing me to lose my vision and my neurologist doesn't want me to wait that long to get surgery. My weight is causing this disorder. I could have permanent blindness from this. So hopefully my insurance will approve since this is a serious condition. Also I have insulin resistance due to my PCOS which makes it hard to lose weight. Keep me updated with how everything goes for you. I would definitely call insurance and get a clear answer on all the requirements and most of the time the can send you their medical policy for this surgery.
  7. nice. I have lived here all 25 years of my life LOL!!!!!

    Insurance requirements for Anthem BCBS

I too have Anthem and have meet my deductible this year. I haven't started the six month thing yet. I am due to start that on 8/6 just incase but I had a neurology apt scheduled on July 24th for over a month and discovered I had Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension which is causing vision loss and my neurologist doesn't want me to wait that long to get the surgery. She is going to try to get my insurance to waive the 6 month diet which I hope they do. I have heard good things about BCBS though and them approving fast. SO just stay on top of it and it should work out.
  9. Still waiting on my neurologist to contact my insurance company so they can get the approval process going and the 6 month diet plan waived. My eye sight is getting worse as the days pass.

    Bcbs insurance anyone?

I live in North Carolina I have BCBS Anthem (Wells Fargo) of GA. They require a six month diet within the last two years which I have done but without a supervised physician. I actually was just diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension on Monday which is causing my vision loss so they said they could probably waive it for that reason they just need to documentation from my neurologist. I had given birth earlier this year so my deductible has already been meet so this surgery will be $0 cost to me. My neurologist said this would be the best option for me since I have PCOS as well and insulin resistance. It's been so hard to lose weight only to keep gaining it back after my body gets used to what I am doing. She said the only thing that will get rid of the PCOS symptoms like insulin resistance and the IIH would be to have drastic weight loss through weight loss surgery. Looks like they took a long time with you I hope they don't do that to me. My neurologist should be sending them something to day hopefully. My last appointment I would need before surgery is on Sept 6th which is the psych evaluation. I hope they approve everything and get surgery before the end of the year. If I get it next year ill have to pay $4,000 out of pocket.

    Sleeved Today.

HELPP!! I am looking to get weight loss surgery which my neurologist said is the best option for me. I have PCOS(Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) which makes it extremely hard for me to loss weight. I have been diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension, my neurologist is worried about me losing my vision and said and had a significant amount of Fluid on my brain causing a lot of strain on my optic nerves causing my vision changes and loss of vision. I have pain, pressure and headaches all day long. I can't really enjoy anything because of the pain and now I am worried about losing my vision. I have insurance through Wells Fargo which is BCBS Anthem of GA. They require you to do a six month diet. My neurologist said that I should not wait that long to have weight loss surgery as this will help the IIH and PCOS. I called my insurance today and they agreed that it was a serious issues and could talk with my neurologist about waiving the 6 month diet plan. I already have my appointment scheduled for pre-op so hopefully they can get it waived and my psych eval is on Sept 6th so after that hopefully I can schedule surgery. I really hope they see the urgency with this issue as I don't want to do any further damage to my eyes and my neurologist agrees. Has anyone else been through the same issue and getting approved for WLS through insurance? Or experience the same issues?
