Gay male 46, with an extremely supportive husband. We have been together 18 years married 2. SW 282 CW 270 goal 180. The Sleeve for me today went really well. Able to eat Jello, drink broth and Isopure. All staying down. I do have discomfort but not crazy pain. Been on several walks today. Also an amazing nurse recommended ice packs on tummy area. Feels really good.

I have had little to no support myself so I sat down and thought about it. I asked myself who am I doing this for, my spouse or me. that is when I figured out it has to be for you. You can not make others happy, that is something they have to find on there own. This is an opportunity to make yourself happy and healthier. Do it for you first if others fall in line after even better.

Omg. The three week stall is a myth. A true stall lasts three weeks or MORE.
All your body is doing at three weeks is regrouping to the new way of living and making needed adjustments.
There is nothing to worry about if you're following plan to the letter.
You could literally sit on your arse for 4 months and if you follow plan you will lose.
Not saying this is the thing you should do, but that your body has no CHOICE but to give up the excess in The beginning IF YOU FOLLOW YOUR EATING PLAN.
You eat tacos and huge hoagies? Well, yeah, you're going to stall. Or gain.
But at 3 weeks? Nope. NOT A STALL

I didn't read the first bunch, just skipped to the "forever" plan.
I do take issue with these plans that recommend 3 meals with no Snacks. Of COURSE you are going to have to have a protein shake every day! We can't eat enough in 3 meals to begin to meet our requirements.. at least not for the first year.
For example: I am 5 months post op. I can eat 2 eggs for a meal. That is 160 calories. (160x3=480 calories, plus the 200 calorie protein shake is only 680 calories!). I can't eat more than 200 calories of ANYTHING in a meal.. so that is still 800 calories a day!
When I can eat more at a time, I'll decrease the number of meals that I eat. (I usually consume calories 6-8 times a day).

Your hair looks fabulous! I recently cut mine from mid-back to shoulder too and love it. I don't feel like I need to hide any more.
This is a great thread. It's funny how this surgery affects you in so many ways other than physically. My mind plays tricks on me all the time. Just this week I went to the beach with my son and forgot our chairs. My immediate thought was "If I try to get down in the sand on my beach towel, I won't be able to get back up". Then I remembered that I can get up from the floor now. I also went to dinner on the boardwalk with hubby and the restaurant had an hour wait. The waiting area was outside and I was freezing, so he suggested we walk up the boardwalk a bit to a souvenir shop where I could get a light jacket or sweatshirt. Well my immediate reaction was to say that they won't have anything in there that will fit me, but he made me go anyway. I saw a cute pink zip hoodie but they only had it up to a size large. I said "OMG this is cute but look how small it looks!" He said...."Ummmm that will fit you. You're not 300 lbs any more so try it on." And it did. I almost teared up over being able to walk into any old store and grab something off the rack like a "normal" person. I also find myself constantly wondering if I can fit in a booth, a chair, walk from point "A" to "B", get into or out of a certain position and am still trying to learn this new person I've become. I've realized that I don't even know what style clothing I like because my whole wardrobe has always been whatever fits or best hid my fat. The therapist I had to see pre-surgery suggested that I take weekly selfies to help my mind jive with my body. She said that seeing yourself in a photo gives you a better sense of what other people see as opposed to looking at your reflection in a mirror because your mind will distort it since it's been accustomed to seeing the same person looking back for so long. Good advise - more selfies it is! lol
