  1. Hey so I’ve been healing really well. I was sleeved 2/2 and I haven’t had any complications besides gas. I started walking immediately after surgery and had my first bm two days after surgery(sorry tmi!) It’s great overall, but I can already hold down liquids and my protein shakes. I even had a small bite of an egg and was fine. I’m a little worried because of how easy it is for me to get my fluids in. I have also been feeling hungry very often. I just don’t want to mess up and not lose weight. I start to feel full after about 3-4 oz and then I stop for a few minutes and am able to drink again. But I’ve read a lot that many can’t even drink a lot after surgery?? Is this normal?? Looking for any support buddies!!
  2. Hey all! I’m a big huge worry wart and have been constantly worrying about a leak. For those who have had it or have done a lot of research, what were your symptoms? How many of you are worried about a leak as well? Thanks!!
  3. Oh good! I would just keep making sure that your lungs don’t get worse. Has anyone had any pain on their right side as well? It feels like muscle soreness on both sides.
  4. Did they have you do breathing exercises after surgery? I’m a little sore in the ribcage when I breathe deeply as well. I contribute that to the soreness my lungs felt after they took the tube out. Have you been passing gas regularly?
  5. Thanks so much for the advice!! [emoji177] I’m glad I’m not the only one in the same boat and you made me feel sooo much better about the fluid intake! I feel like with this surgery I will take moderation! I know that once I can I will let myself take small bites of things now and then because if I don’t then I will end up going crazy! When were you sleeved? [emoji4] so glad things have been going good for you!
  6. This might be a little tmi, but how has all of your visits to the bathroom been? Has the liquid diet changed how often you go?
  7. That’s great! I’m so excited for that too! I have been having extreme lightheadedness since my surgery. Hoping once I make the switch to full liquids I’ll be better. Right now I’m only doing clear liquids with one protein shake a day until Friday.
  8. I’m so sorry! I heard that some people have different taste buds after surgery! Luckily I haven’t experienced any of that yet but there is still a chance it could happen once I switch to actual food!
  9. How long did you stay on protein shakes? How did the protein shakes and switch to puréed go for you? [emoji4]
  10. I am extremely scared of the possibility of leaks and freaked out for a full day after taking that bite of an egg, worried I would cause complications. Trust me, I am taking it very seriously.
  11. I’m not eating solid foods, it was a teeny tiny bite of an egg, not even a centimeter! I know I shouldn’t have and I’m definitely making sure to stick to full liquids only! I’m taking this seriously. I’ve been sticking to protocol and making sure to be in contact with the nutritionist and surgeon. I appreciate your concern
  12. Hey all! I’ve been having gas pains like many but dizziness and lightheadedness. It started two days post op and usually gets worse at night. Could it be due to lack or calories? should I be worried? Thanks all!
  13. Thanks everyone! I went to the doctor and got my vitals checked and it was all normal, so I’m guessing it’s lack of calories! I’m getting a good amount of fluid in because my pee is clear. Thank god I stopped taking my bp meds because it was normal today!

Who has been sleeved in MX?

Sure. It included two nights in a hospital and then one night in a hotel. There was a valet st the hospital at all times that spoke fluent English. Most of the nurses knew English, some was broken but I never had an issue communicating with them. The hospital was super clean. I was never in any pain while I was there and the nurses were really attentive. There was also always a doctor there on staff. I met the surgeon who spoke fluent English and also the nutritionist who gave me a goodie bag with some Powerade and coconut water, and broth for the hotel stay. After the hospital, the valet took us to the hotel and took us around Tijuana to see the markets and the beach. We had to pay for the uber to take us there but the valet translated for us and showed us where to go. Also the doctor made a hotel visit to make sure that I was healing okay. Overall they were really attentive and it was as good if not better care than the United States.
  15. Thanks so much for your concern and advice! I’m definitely staying on liquids for the full time- I am a little scared of going to solid food lol!
  16. I’m so sorry about your constipation! I’m lucky in that aspect that I haven’t had any issues with that. It’s definitely been an adjustment but I’m getting used to sipping! Have you been having any issues with dizziness and fatigue? I have noticed that since I’ve been on the pre op liquid diet!
  17. Healing well as in I’m not having any pain, no nausea and very little issues with gas and have already begun passing bms, etc. I understand your concern but I did check with the surgeon and nutritionist and they okayed me starting protein shakes a few days early.
  18. I was supposed to be on clear liquids for a full week but my nutritionist allowed me to start protein shakes a little early due to healing so quickly and also my blood sugar was getting extremely low and I was almost passing out. After you start getting the pains how long do you stop before you start taking in more liquids? Do you feel hungry soon after or are you still full? Sorry for all the questions!

Who has been sleeved in MX?

BariatricPal has their own hospital in Tijuana. It was 4600 for the sleeve. I just got it done and it was a great experience.

  21. So my insurance requires me to lose 5% of weight before they approve me for surgery. I started off at 258 and needed to be down to 243. When I started my nutritionist appt I had gained at was 264. I’m supposed to be down to 243 by end of January and I am still 258! I have completely changed up my lifestyle, going low carb, going to Zumba a few times a week and taking my thyroid meds. I am just so discouraged because I have been working so hard! I’ve thinned down but the scale won’t budge!! What have you guys done to help top the scales in your favor? Thanks so much
  22. Did anyone get approved without meeting their 5% weight loss? I’m so close and working really hard to make sure I meet it but I’m worried I won’t be able to. my body hasn’t been my friend lately.
  23. And unfortunately I’m working with Medicaid and they do it in stages. They won’t even approve the weight loss surgery until I’ve completed stage 2, which includes the weight loss. So not sure when the liquid diet is gonna start :/
  24. I’ve been drinking lots of water. Also I’m hypothyroid so the nutritionist has me on lower carb but not keto. Do you think resistance would be better than cardio? Just worried about gaining weight due to muscle. Just wondering how to make sure I weight the lightest I can at my weigh ins. What did you do to lose the weight? Thanks so much for your help.
  25. Hi everyone! I am going to be done with all of my stage 2 requirements in mid January! I already had an appt with the weight loss surgeon and they ordered the blood work, ekg, and egd, which is all being done in the area that I live in. I am still trying to get my sleep apnea figured out but I have just been diagnosed with high blood pressure. My BMI is 38. I was worried about not being approved due to no comorbidity but I think high blood pressure now counts? Does anyone know how the process works once I finish my stage 2 requirements? Does the weight loss surgeon send in the approval paperwork or is it my primary care doctor.
