One thing I've learned from this board is that everybody's situation and everybody's surgeon is different! I'm just curious, what did / does your liver shrinking diet consist of?

I looked into it. The cost is cool.
The issue is they have some Vitamins together that should be taken apart, and the doses are way too low for Bariatric patients. Like If I used their product. I would have to still take other vitamins, none of their doses are high enough. If they made their formulas better I would purchase right away.

For the entire nine months that I've been doing my program, I kept saying "IF I decide to do the surgery...". And then last week I went in for my pre admission appointment, and had the realization that this is really happening and I am going through with it.
i think it's really good for us to note our fears and concerns, and to write about WHY we are having the surgery. It will really help us in those first few weeks after surgery when we start having regrets.

I just got my call today too....and am totally freaked out and excited and nervous and any thing else you want to add!! Lol I have 2 weeks of Liver Shrinking Diet and Surgery on the 12th ....best of luck to you!!

Very normal. I had my surgery just three days ago. The first two days had its moments, but coming into day 3, I am home and its going well. My pain is well controlled as is the gas with a host of meds they send you out with. As for the pre-op nerves, I went through multiple waves of this and continually debated should I do it, should I not. But at the end of the day, I thought of the consequences of not doing it in terms of the future health problems that most likely would occur and I kept on. It is not a minor surgery and there will be some challenges. But the worst is the first few days after surgery and it isn't anything that isn't manageable. So what you are feeling is very normal and just the process one goes through to get from here to there. Good luck!

So for some crazy reason I was really worked up and worried about my psych evaluation. Partly because I just hate tests and the other reason is because I already know that I have a bad relationship with food and I was just worried that she was going to tell me that I was too messed up and I can't have the surgery. However as probably many of you know since you've been through it, it was a breeze and it was actually really nice to talk about and air out a few things before going into this and of course I passed with flying colors! I only have one more visit to the nutritionist and then my paperwork all goes to insurance and I start praying that they are going to cover it and I can get scheduled!

Everyone's body and how they react to this is different. For the first 6 months following surgery I rarely had anything to drink and when I did it was a small amount of wine. I'm 2 years out and still limit my consumption. Usually the only times that I drink are when I'm out with friends. I try to drink slowly as it can hit me hard and fast otherwise. I have found that I can have some beer, but it's usually flat. Overly carbonated and I don't get along. The only times that I have beer is following the completion of a 5k or 10k race where it's waiting at the finish line. But as I said, I'll have maybe 1/8-1/4 of the cup and throw the rest away. It's a treat. Wine I'm good with, and occasionally can do sparkling, but again it's not often and I only pour a small amount and don;t always finish what someone else pours.
The point is that you need to keep in mind the following:
Limit your consumption. Don't drink daily and don't drink excessively. Watch how much and how fast you drink because your body will act differently than before surgery. Give your stomach time to heal, and follow the doctors guidelines on how long to wait until you have your first sip. Different beverages will affect your stomach differently. So don't push yourself to drink something that doesn't agree with you.

Im 6 months out and used to ne able to drink shitloads. Now a small glass ( and only half way ) you can tell its going to my head. Then next day feel ****. New experience for me. So at this stage i dont miss it.

Hi,

I was sleeved June 8th 2016, have lost 140lbs, so far I can drink sliver rum and do okay whereas sparkling wine, wine have a harder time the sugar dumps into system to quickly. Anyway no one anywhere endorses drinking alcohol post surgery but just be smart and for me I waited until I hit major goals to partake. I am on a bocce team plus work in the wine industry so its hard to not be tempted. Now I weigh exactly 140lbs lost 1/2 of my body weight, now maintaining. Again, be smart they do not want us to hurt our new pouches and to get alcohol poisoning or have transfer of addictions. Good luck

Yes of course I know there won't be binge drinking, but what about social drinking? Thus may sound silly but my husband and I are on a bowling league and a softball team and in both cases we usually hang out and have a beer or 2....will I be able to do that? I mean if my stomach can only hold 4-6 oz I'm thinking I won't be able to? Just trying to get mentally ready!!
