January bypass buddies??
I actually gained a lot leading up to finally getting a surgery date. My first weigh in I was 209 and last week I weighed in at 229, so I feel your struggle. With that said though, I started my pre-op liquid diet on Saturday and I am already down 5 pounds. Hoping for a big loss before surgery on 1/2/18 because my NUT literally went nuts when she saw the gain. Hang in there. We’ve got this! Our eye is on the prize!

It’s posts like this that keep me focused on the “big” (small) picture! I can visualize how I might look a year from now. Surgery date 1/2/18. ?

60+ years in age
Thanks! I do have the Premier protein water too, both the tropical punch and the orange mango. It’s “real” food I miss. ☹️ I know it will get better.

60+ years in age
Hi, Candy! Yes, I started my pre-op liver shrinking diet today. This is so hard, especially when people around you eat regular food. The other thing that is particularly hard for me is that my pre-op plan normally allows you to have certain non-starchy veggies, but because I MAY have gastroparesis (I have not been formally diagnosed with this condition), my NUT told me that I should NOT include the allowed veggies. So frustrating because I really think I would do well on this plan until surgery if only I could have the veggies!!! As it is now, it’s liquids only (protein shakes, sugar free drinks like Crystal Light, low sodium broth, one sugar free popsicle a day and one sugar free Jello per day). My protein requirement is 90 grams per day and I have an 80 ounce per day beverage requirement (which would include water, the protein shakes, sugar free beverages and broth). I am at the end of day 1 and I am cranky, cranky, cranky!!!!) I have actually gained weight over the past 4 months because I was taken off the Belviq/phentermine combo I was on because my family doctor felt that because I was eventually going to have the VSG, that I should no longer take the weight loss meds. When my bariatric doctor saw me today, he didn’t seem too concerned, but the NUT went, well, nuts!!!! All I can say is that I will stick to the strict liquid diet until surgery, but they better not cancel my surgery if I don’t lose enough. The NUT basically told me that because I gained over the past 4 months, they may not do the surgery on 1/2. I think just stressing over this has me cranky.

Baritastic app question.
My program gave us a card with the code on it. The codes are specific to your hospital’s program, as it allows your team can send you push notifications for reminders to log nutrition, exercise, etc.

We were also told to take MIRALAX post surgery.

Hard time with Protein Shakes
I just had my pre-surgery meeting today and NUT told us that if we use Premier for the pre-op liquid diet to also add a fiber supplement and a daily multivitamin. Perhaps adding a fiber supplement constipation would not be a problem? Just a suggestion.

60+ years in age
Hi all! My name is Maggie and I am 62 years old. My sleeve surgery is scheduled for 1/2/18. I have a number of conditions that prompted me to consider VSG: sleep apnea, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, degenerative disc disease with 13 bulging discs and 1 herniated disc in my cervical and lumbar spine. I was also recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism (aha! Probably a good reason I couldn’t lose weight!). I also had hypertension, but I was taken off medication for that when I lost 38 pounds last year on a combination of Belviq and phentermine. After 6 months, this combo of weight loss meds stopped working and I regained all but 7 pounds. I am 5’3” and as of today weight 228. I am so disappointed in myself because while on the weight loss meds, I did manage to get below 200; I reached 198 (ONEderland). I guess it could be worse because at my high point I weighed 240. I have been a yo-yo dieter for much of my adult life and I want to end this madness! I figured that VSG was my best bet for losing weight and being able to climb stairs without huffing and puffing, getting rid of the sleep apnea (my grandkids tell me I snore like a bear), and also hoping to take stress off of my arthritic joints.

Protein shake!!!
I would say I’m more excited than nervous. I had lost some weight on Belviq/Phentermine combo last year, but then it stopped working. I gave away all my size 18 clothes and now my 16’s are getting kind of tight. Only a little over 2 weeks to go. Can’t wait.

Protein shake!!!
By the way: I mix them with low-fat milk rather than water and I make sure the milk is very, very cold.

Protein shake!!!
I am scheduled for surgery on 1/2/18. My boyfriend’s daughter had a sleeve done about 2 years ago and she suggested JBN to me.
