mytime4me reacted to Missy161 in What was the biggest surprise for you at or after surgery? What do you wish you had known?
I am surprised how different every protocol is. I had my sleeve on 6/22 a Thursday. My dr had me in Protein Shakes the day after surgery and yogurt and applesauce by Tuesday. My recovery has been seamless. He had me in ground meat and fish 2 weeks after surgery. I haven't had any nausea at all and very little pain. By far the easiest surgical recover I have ever had. I have had 4 c sections and a gall bladder removed and this was the easiest.

mytime4me reacted to Navigating the Wilderness in Sleeve vs RNY
Yes it has. I'm sure you know the differences between the two and their pros and cons. From my perspective I chose a sleeve over rny because it had less complications, and was far less time on the table. Those were the only two reasons. RNY is a fine procedure and can be more beneficial in certain cases like those who suffer from GERD. On a side note, I have/had GERD and have had precisely one incident in the past almost 6 months, so it is not a definite that having GERD disqualifies you from the sleeve as many say. In my case it was what I was eating that was causing all the issues.

Thanks Walker75 It looks like you are fresh out of surgery and I hope you are doing great. I guess its a good sign that you would still do it again!!
That's an excellent tip about cleaning out the pantry. I have a 2 and 3 year old and have already made my husband eat or throw out all of the kids stuff that would appeal to me...haha
Hope you are feeling great!

I like so many of you will be starting on the road of a healthier me- my sleeve surgery is set for 28-Jul. I've begun the "fun" process of withdrawing from all the bad things that I ate and drink to make myself feel better. Now the hard work begins.
Although I am so excited to make these long over due changes, I find my excitement is turning to nervousness (aka W T F am I doing...) but my course remains unchanged - steam rolling on to the new and healthier me.
As I am getting ready (both physically and mentally) - I was hoping I could lean on this group for their experience.
Was there anything you weren't prepared for the first few weeks after surgery and knowing what you know now - would you do anything differently?
How long did it take for you to feel "normal" again?
Any thoughts would be so appreciated

Allison, I am so excited that you are ready for your new journey! Just remember to breathe and take time for yourself.
I made sure to clean and stock my pantry.
I was a little scared at first too. But looking back I would do it all again! [emoji7]
