I've had my CPAP for so long I'm not sure if I could sleep without it. I plan to have a sleep study done when I get to goal or close to it. However, I think I'm one that has always had it. My mom said I snored like a bear as a child and when I had my septum corrected the doctor couldn't believe my nose had never been broken.

CALM is kind of fizzy so be careful. But it does work! -
I'm 4 weeks out today and have not had problems with anything yet. My surgeon okay'd me to move on to real food since I'm handling everything well. I need to use up the cans of chicken salad i have but can't wait to start incorporating real, whole food. I still have to chew, chew, chew but that will be a forever thing. Interesting fact - I was reading through the new literature he gave me today and said the stomach opening is only the size of an M&M. O,O

Anyone else plateau 2-3 weeks post-op?
gotime0810 replied to dgal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I stalled at the end of week one for about 10 days. I weighed on a Friday and then then again on Sunday. I dropped 5 lbs between those days and am losing again. During the stall I noticed inches and bloating go away. Work the plan. Keep the Faith. -

Is there anyway to avoid all of the sugar substitutes, especially in the beginning? It has been shown that they are not good for you and I have ALWAYS hated them. As of today I feel like they are making me feel yucky and affecting my bathroom visits.

I'm so unbelievably bored! I live in Richmond, TX (far west side of Houston). While I am incredibly grateful that we did not get a direct hit from the hurricane, we have been hunkered down due to reports of impending catastrophic rain and flooding. Well, parts of Houston are getting slammed today, but the rain bands seem to keep splitting over the area I live in. Technically we could have had a normal day today and gone to a movie or something. Instead we have been at home all day binge watching Netflix waiting for the sky to fall. Seriously, we are about to go see if Wal-mart is still open just to walk the aisles. On top of the boredom, the reality of not being to eat comfort food has set in and I'm really, really sad. Normally we would have ordered pizza, made queso and chips, gone for a burger...pretty much anything revolving around food to break up the boredom. It's tough to realize that my hobby was food. I can't think of anything else to do today besides sit on my butt and dream about junk food. I don't mean to complain, I just wanted to voice my feelings to an audience who can relate. My husband is supportive but he doesn't get it.

Well today is completely a different story. Thankfully our neighborhood has not flooded. I also decided to make a variety of meals for the week. Thickgirl5683 I hope you are doing okay. -

How Open Are Support Groups?
gotime0810 replied to Véronique's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would think you should be able to attend any support group in your area. A lot of the hospitals in my area offer them so they are not surgeon specific. Making it out to meetings is hard for me, so I consider this forum a great support group. I'm also part of a small Facebook support group. -
I just found his videos. They are awesome!

I haven't felt full yet either. I am noticing as I get to the end of my 3 oz my stomach starts to gurgle. I'm taking that as my sign. It is so different for everyone. I tend to eat distracted and am working to break that habit. I've literally been eating with my eyes closed so I can really concentrate on how my body feels and reacts to what I am eating. Since I don't really feel full I'm very careful to portion everything to keep from overeating.

I'd start with 2-3 ounces. My surgeon told me my tummy could only hold about 2-2.5 oz at this point.

Anyone else plateau 2-3 weeks post-op?
gotime0810 replied to dgal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm two weeks out today. I'm a "lightweight" so I don't expect to lose a lot quickly. That being said, I lost 10 lbs the first week and basically nothing this past week. I have noticed my stomach is not as poofy so I'll take that. I have a feeling my stall might be due to water and possibly vitamins. My protein goals are being met with no issues. I do have trouble getting in 64 oz of water a day. I can drink it fine, I just can't seem to get that much in a day. I had trouble meeting that goal pre-surgery, so this is not a shocker. I am also having trouble taking my vitamins, they are chewable and I HATE chewable vitamins. I I have my first appointment with my NUT tomorrow and have a long list of questions to make sure I'm doing this right. -
Herbal tea worked for me when I couldn't handle water.

Have you tried herbal tea? Peppermint and chamomile are usually easy to get down.

Can sugar substitutes be avoided?
gotime0810 replied to gotime0810's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have started to move to real food and thankfully I am leaving the artificial sweeteners behind. I'm working hard to move towards a much cleaner way of eating to get in the habit. I drink water or unsweetened herbal tea for my hydration. -
Has anyone had Kidney Stones?
gotime0810 replied to KKLive's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very good explanation. Thankfully I haven't had a bad stone in a while. The high protein diet and kidney stones was one thing that kept me on the fence for a while before deciding to go forward with my surgery. I'm praying I'm consuming enough water to keep my kidney's happy. -
Okay, I have 2 oz of tuna. I'm eating really slowly. (Just because, not because I'm having issues eating.) My 20 minute "times up" timer goes off. Can I finish the meal?

So how are the August post-ops doing? Any words of wisdom or nuggets of knowledge you would like to share?
-
I do because I was told too not because I understand it. My doctor said that water flows right through the pouch so if there is nothing in there why can't we drink? I get the concept of not drinking during and after though.

There are a lot of threads on here that talk about the 3 week stall. It is a thing and sounds like almost everyone has encountered it.
