    Your story..

Hi - I am 54 yrs old and of course have had a weight problem my whole life. But in High School I straved myself into being almost normal. But life happens and about 13 yrs ago I weighed 340 pounds. I lost down to 190 on my own and kept that weight for 10 yrs. Then my hubby got very sick and died. My weight shot straight up to 260. I KNEW I just could not do it again on my own and looked into the Band. I was banded Jan 1st, (self pay). I am a slow loser but am down 46 pounds and look and feel wonderful. I do not excerise alot (didn't before either) BUT I walk and walk and walk. That was the big secret to me keeping my weight off last time and it will work again this time! I think my story is a perfect example of the disease of over-weight is a life long illness and we need help and it's OK to need help. Best Wishes to you Both on your new path! Thank you for this thread. Hugs - Donna in Sacramento

    Leg Cramps

HI - after 2 mos of being banded, I got leg cramps. My Band Doc said for me to drink a small V-8 very day or at least every other day. Wow, the leg cramps went away. IF I miss drinking my V-8, within 3 to 4 days the cramps will come back. Good Luck! Donna in Sacramento

    Looking for Fellow SLOW LOSERS

Thank you for this thread, I too am a slow loser, I have been banded for 6 mos and have lost 42#'s. I did not feel restriction until my third fill. I have just started walking every morning for 45 mins to 1 hour - keep your fingers crossed that will help the scale go down. Hugs Donna / Sacramento CA

One Workout Away From A Great Mood

Hi All, for over 10 years I walked in the mornings and keep my weight in check - then, everything changed - hubby became very ill and passed away and yep - the weight shot right up! The band is helping get weight down BUT I just hadn't started walking. BUT I finally set my alarm clock and I am walking again early in the AM. I like walking in the AM because nothing ever gets in the way of me doing it. If I have a chance or the weather is nice, I like to take a short walk in the evenings. But, like all of you the evenings are alittle harder because "life" always finds away to mess it up. Thanks for this thread. And let's keep moving and smiling! Yep walking in the AM really helps my mood and view about life. Hugs Donna / Sacramento CA
  6. Hi Bandsters, I have only posted one other time, but I really enjoyed the reading of this tread regarding supersized. I was banded 12/29/05 (just before the new year). I am a slow loser, but needed 3 fills before I felt anything. The day of surgery I weighed 260, I am 5'2" tall. This was not my highest weight by far. My highest weight was: more than 354. I weighed that on the Dr scale and I know I weighed at least 20 pounds more before I started loosing weight. I lost to 195 to 200 pounds and stayed at that weight for 10 yrs. Then in Dec 2004 my wonderful Hubby died and before I could blink twice I had gained 40 pounds, then another 20 while "trying" to diet! I knew (like all of us knows) I was in serious trouble of gaining it all back. That is why I got banded, to stop it from happening. Since being banded I have lost 42 pounds, my mini goal is 195 and then 175 is my true final goal. With the support of my family and YOU, I may not get there in my time BUT I know I will in God's time. Thanks for the wonderful sharing. Donna in Sacramento CA;)

    Similar Shame

Hi - I was banded 12/29/05, I didn't not lose any additional weight after surgery. I've had one fill, I could almost feel the difference with restriction, but not "there" yet. I am going on Friday for 2nd fill and I feel very hopeful (finally) that this band is going to be the answer for me. I too was feeling like maybe I had made a major mistake. I am ready to be ready! Get to that Dr with your head high and look everyone in the eye, you are great and are on your way! Remember you (we) are more than what the scale says! Donna R / Northern Calif:clap2:

I had my first fill on Fri 2-10-06 and what a difference! I too was so hungry right after surgery right up to Friday and the fill finally has the hunger in control. So good luck and hang in there, there will a happy ending to this hunger you're working through. Warm Regards.... Donna R / Northern Calif banded 12-29-05

    Here comes the shoulder pain!

I had shoulder pain so bad, I had to stay right on the pain meds the Doc gave me and not miss taking it - if I missed the pain was so bad. The shoulder pain lasted almost 2 wks. But, it finally went away..... "this to shall pass"....... Donna R / Northern Calif banded 12/29/05

    Newbie here

Hi Donna here also, I am in Northern Calif. I was banded on 12/29 and am getting my first fill on Friday. Since also being new, I can tell you I didn't tell very many people also. I didn't even tell my business partner. I just felt it wasn't anyone's business. The weight loss will be slower than the full gastric people, I "think" it will be alot easier to hide. I think I didn't want to tell people was part shame, part being a very private person and part I didn't want to have to answer questions. I want to keep the focus on myself and not get into taking care of anyone else's feelings about this. This is about pleasing only ME. I think it's ok to put me first for a change! Thanks for the lapband support on this site, I have really learnt alot! Warm Regards - Donna R / Northern Calif

getting my first fill w/dr Spiegel

Hi - I am Donna in No Calif, I was banded on 12/29/05. I am going for my first fill on Friday 2/10. I have gained back 5 pounds since surgery - yikes. I fill like I could eat normally (which isn't good). Will this fill stop this feeling and help control my hunger? Thanks !
