Thanks all. I'm just like you I drink a ton of crystal light, ice tea with Truvia, Powerade Zero etc but very little plain Water. I try to switch to see if it helps. Fingers crossed !

I stalled, too, at the end of week 3 and didn’t move until today, 4 weeks later. My nutritionist helped me figure it out. It may not be the same for any of you but for me it was Water. Plain, nasty, no flavor, stomach filling water. I had been using Crystal Light and Propel and although I have been drinking my fill of Fluid every day, I haven’t been drinking plain water. Sometimes the artificial sweeteners make you hold on to weight. I switched to plain water two days ago, replacing my Propel and Crystal Light and bam! I dropped 3 lbs. I still use Splenda in my coffee and I drink Premier Protein shakes twice a day, but the plain water was ticket.
Its not the same for everyone. I’m older and my metabolism is lower but if you aren’t drinking enough water, taking your Multivitamin, or getting the Protein, your body can hold on to every single pound.
Just some friendly advice from someone who was there...just 2 short days ago!!
    Good luck!!

First off congrats on taking the first steps to having a healthier life. I'm sorry your friend is making it into a competition. You should both just be supporting each other. But as far as her coming to the appointment with you, I personally wouldn't have her go. There is so much information that you and the surgeon need to discuss and if she tries to start talking about herself things might not get discussed. As much as you want to make it enjoyable and simple for her, you have to remember you are also doing this for yourself. If the rolls were reversed would she let you piggy back her appointment? I think you probably know the answer to that.

Hopefully everything works out and you get alittle more support!

Dr's offices are not going to be very understanding about a 'double booking' - just tell her it is against HIPPA laws - confidentiality and all that. And then stop thinking about her issues and concentrate on yourself, this is a distraction ad will not help you on your journey.
Stop sharing your appointment dates with her, stop sharing the details, just say you are still thinking about some things and when you have a decision that is when you will share, then just keep that up.....she will get the message unless she is the type of person that requires a '2x4' upside the head, metaphorically speaking
You don't need this type of friend setting you up for issues.
    Good luck.

To be honest I kind of wonder why your surgeon didn't revise you to bypass in the first place.

We go out after church sometimes and I get a Water with lemon and then order a la carte like 1 scrambled egg with cheese and 2 slices of bacon or once I offered the turkey club sandwich no bread, so I had the turkey cheese and bacon. The other day we went to subway and I'm not allowed lettuce yet so I ordered a 6 in chicken bacon ranch no bread, they put the chicken breast in a salad container with cheese melted on top and bacon on top, I ate half for lunch and the other half for dinner.

Hello Everyone. My name is Chasity. This year has been 7 years since I had my band placed. This worked great and approx 5 years into the process I had completely changed my life. I was down 130 pounds and at the lowest weight I had seen since high school. I had energy I long ago forgot I had. This was great and this energy greatly improved my children and my lives. We were so active and eating much healthier. One of the reasons I did the surgery was to ensure I was using all the tools I could to provide a healthy lifestyle for my children. Coming from an obese family I feared my kids would pick up the same bad habits. Although, even at my largest I was very strict about what my children consumed.
The last two years I started having great difficulties. My band ended up prolapsing and all the Fluid had to be removed. My stomach relaxed down and we started filling the band again. Shortly after my second fill I had problems beginning again. The doctor felt the band prolapsed again and removed all the fluid. I went back and had another upper GI to find even with no fluid the band was still moderately restricting. This was causing great difficulty with eating. I was vomiting and having a hard time eating any foods beyond Cereal, Soup, turkey bacon, and yogurt. It was decided the band needs to be removed and the thought is to convert to the sleeve at the same time.
I know very little about the sleeve and worry about if this is the right choice. I had no problem with the band up to this point and had no significant health side effects. I have heard some concerns about the dangers of the sleeve and worry being a single mom of three if this is the best choice for me. I would really appreciate any feedback on the conversion. The dangers, side effects, and potential risks. I have not met with the surgeon yet to discuss this as I have testing I have to complete prior to meeting with him. But I would like to have some idea of what I am facing at decision time. I would appreciate any advise. Thank you and best wishes to all as you go through and continue through the process.

    Chasity

Yeah you don't need to bring your own Protein powder.
Order Soup and a salad. Don't touch the salad, just push it around, no one will notice.
Eat the soup, just the liquids, you should be able to have most of it. Have your protein before and after.
Honestly it isn't worth going out at 3 weeks but I am assuming this is some social event you can't decline.
Eating out is something you have to learn. I have a lot of tricks to make it seem like I am eating but not really eating.

Trust me, don't bring Protein Powder to add to the Soup. A single meal without Protein isn't gonna kill ya. Potato soup, french onion soup.. something along those lines will work well. Even ordering a sweet potato can work, just take tiny bites and keep it in your mouth until it's nice and smooth/runny.
Do try and avoid anything like chicken noodle soup. It's soft, but those noodles... (maybe it's just me, but I can't handle noodles even now, and I'm 3.5 months out). Even the broth has noodle juice in it.. so doesn't work for me. YMMV

During the pureed stage I went to Panera bread and had Turkey Chilli. I ate real slow and chewed very well. Once I could have fish, I ordered Shrimp Tacos at Chilli's. I basically picked out the Shrimp and avocado from the taco and at that only.

I went out last night on day 8 . I had a mango lassi ( yogurt drink ) and two spoons of lentil Dhall which was too spicy. We left quite promptly as I was a little over whelmed by the heat and the food - but I was so glad to be out and sociable. I also developed back and hip pain. Staying at home I would not have known how weak I was

Look for Soups (call ahead to find out what they will have) and bring some Protein Powder you can discreetly add in. Milk is my go to when I'm out running errands etc...
I went to one restaurant around 2 weeks and just had Water as I was still liquids at that point. I got to be with my family and stayed with my plan.

This is a tough one, because at only 3 weeks, there's not much experience with solid foods yet, so unless the restaurant has something you've already tried and know won't bother you, it could be challenging. My suggestions would be to make sure to research the menu and see if there is anything that you KNOW will (1) be gentle to your new sleeve, (2) give you the nutrients you need most right now (protein) and (3) actually be on your eating plan.
The surgery is meant to kickstart your new eating habits so try to choose something that won't derail those plans. It's hard enough to get enough Water in at 3 weeks so beware of the excess sodium restaurants (even "healthy ones") put on their food....you'll probably want to ask them to leave it unsalted and then you can control it by adding it yourself.
Also you'll probably want to choose something that saves well because you will undoubtedly have leftovers
    Best of luck!

How far out will you be? I went out for the first time at a regular restaurant 8 days post op. I ordered a hot tea and a glass of milk. Got some strange looks from the waitress, but I just explained I was on a liquid diet. Was fine after that.

I say enjoy yourself. If you know where you will be going, look up the menu beforehand to see what bariatric friendly options they may have. Call with any questions. Ask for a to go box in the beginning so you can separate your portion. Eat slow and enjoy the conversation! I'm only 3 weeks post op, but I've been out with my sister.
