    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

My doctor still has me at only 2 oz or a quarter of a cup per meal. To stay on that I bought those little 2 oz plastic cups at Walmart. And I've been using a scale for some things. I've only lost 20 pounds in the last 2 months and I also tell myself that's ok because maybe it will prevent the skin from sagging too much, but it is frustrating. And the 2 ounces don't always satisfy me so I have cheated a little but not too much. I'm still limited though in what I'm allowed to eat. No raw vegetables or fruit, except for mushier fruit, until about the 6 month mark. Still not supposed to eat beef and I found out why. I had 2 ounces of hamburger for the past two evenings and my stomach has been upset ever since. I'm mainly eating fish and chicken, some eggs, and cheese because I can't give up the cheese. Most days I'm only getting about 600-700 calories, which includes 300 for my 2 protein shakes. I'm wondering if it's slowing my weight loss but that is what they say that I should limit myself to.

That helps me feel better, especially the way you put it. Actually put a smile on my face. Hopefully by this time next year, we'll both be down to our goal weight.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

I'm a bit bummed myself. Although I have lost some weight and I can fit into some clothes that I couldn't before, it is not what I had hoped for. The PA from the doctor's office didn't seem satisfied with my weight loss either which made me feel even worse. For the most part, I've stayed around 600 calories a day, but I can't always stay with just the 3 meals and 2 protein shakes. I get really hungry. I still can only eat about 2 ounces per meal, especially if it's denser meat, but I still get hungry later. The main thing that I am not doing enough of is exercise. I do have more energy than I did before and have done a little more at my house, but I need to work on the exercise, especially for the toning.

Same here. I have a scale but don't want to get too obsessive. Once I get to my goal weight, I want to weigh myself weekly so that I can adjust my food intake if I've gained a couple of pounds. In the meantime, I just wait until doctor appointments. The last one was about a month out, but at my regular doctor's office so not sure if the scales read the same. I had only lost about 15 pounds in a month, but I can tell a difference in my clothes. And when I shower, I can feel there isn't as much fat as before in certain places. I also notice there is not as much pain on my hips and knees as before the surgery. I also remind myself that I'm older so it will take a little longer, and I shouldn't be losing the weight too fast so there isn't too much hanging skin.

I refuse to get on the scale until my follow up on October 2nd because I'm afraid of being disappointed if I'm not losing like I want. Hopefully I'll be in for a nice surprise on my appointment.

I had problems, but I had GERD beforehand. My doctor put me on prescription Prilosec because it was causing pain even to drink.

I was only told to take a multi-vitamin and B-12 (2500 mg a week). Later I'll have to take the calcium but they told me to hold off on that until later. I never had to take a proton pump inhibitor. Not even sure what that is.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

I was sleeved on the 22nd and I had the same experience. I thought I wouldn't feel hunger for at least awhile. Still only getting about 500 to 600 calories, between the food and 2 scoops of the protein powder. I haven't been weighing because I don't want to get depressed if I stop losing, so wait until I go to the doctor's office.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

I just had mine done on the 22nd. I wish my experience was like some of yours. The surgery went well, and I was pretty much out of it the first night, but I was able to get up and walk around once. I have had problems with gas, but that is getting better. Stitches don't hurt that much but the muscles around the stitches hurt whenever I moved. That is getting better too, but still feel like I'm ripping something when I sneeze or cough. Worst part is when I try to drink. It feels like there is a lot of inflammation at the top of my ribs, in the center. Sometimes it feels like really bad indigestion when I try to drink something, even when I do it slowly. Now I did have trouble with reflux before, so that could be it. It's been hard to get down as much as they want you to, but I started the protein shakes today and it's been easier to keep down. Although I haven't been hungry, it has not affected my love of food so I still see commercials and almost salivate over them. I'll be glad when I get to the mashed foods.
  10. I noticed that our beginning weight and height are similar. Did you have problems with skin sagging? And if you did, did you have an emotional problem with it? I also have prediabetes, plus fibromyalgia, sleep apnea, arthritis and different back issues. I am hoping the surgery helps with all of these, along with giving me more energy.
  11. This is how I feel. My surgery is on the 19th of this month. The skin sagging is something that is uppermost in my mind now, but I also love food and wine and I'm afraid that the surgery will completely take that enjoyment away. I don't want to continue with the unlimited eating, but so much of our lives are built around dinners out and family gatherings where there is a lot of food. I also worry that the pain and fatigue will make it hard to go to work, because I only have enough time to cover a week off. I'm hoping that the weight loss will spur me on to exercise. It should help my joints that hurt more and more, and hopefully it will eventually give me more energy to make the time to exercise. Good luck to everyone here.
